Browns-Chiefs one-liners

Browns LB David Bowens wouldn’t say that a desire to save Eric Mangini’s job was the impetus for their strong play in a 41-34 victory against the Chiefs.

Jerome Harrison’s 286 yards rushing erased one of Jim Brown’s Browns franchise rushing records.

Said Browns KR Joshua Cribbs of his teammates helping him to two kickoff return touchdowns, “All they kept saying was, ‘We’re going to get you to the Pro Bowl.
We’ll get you a new contract. Don’t worry about that.’ My own guys.
That’s teamwork right there — selfless play.”

Terry Pluto of the Cleveland Plain Dealer concedes that the Browns franchise needs a new leader, but he isn’t so sure about a new coach.

Browns WR Chansi Stuckey had five catches, half the total number of receptions by the entire offense.

Chiefs S Jon McGraw said it was probably for the best that the game was blacked out in Kansas City.

Said Chiefs coach Todd Haley, “They had two tight [ends] in there a bunch of the game and we were just unable to fit and make the plays to keep
their forward progress from going. You give up 350 yards rushing, that’s not a good thing.”

The poor defensive effort overshadowed a 154-yard rushing effort by Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles.

QB Matt Cassel had his first 300-yard passing game as a member of the Chiefs and threw two touchdown passes.

Cassel could have thrown for close to 400 yards if Chiefs receivers didn’t drop eight passes.

I always thought NOT using Harrison and using Jamal Lewis as well as using Anderson at QB and NOT Quinn were 2 of the dumbest things Crennell and Savage did with the Browns.

Obviously, Bob S is another of the Brady bunch. I’m referring to his comment about keeping DA as QB and not using Quinn. Bob S, please look back at Quinn and Anderson’s throwing strength. DA could accurately throw for over thirty yards while Quinn can’t lobb the ball for twelve yards.
Go DA. Be free of the Browns. Get traded and go to an actual; playoff game. Win the SB for all of us believers..

DawgsRus…we’re talking about Derek Anderson right? I’m assuming DA stands for Derek Anderson. As in the Derek Anderson who had historically bad numbers in his past 16 games worth of starts.
“DA” has zero chance of ever being a winner in this league. He has no confidence or leadership ability. He can’t read defenses. He has one skill that led to half a season’s worth of success and that’s a good deep ball. Once you take that away, which the NFL did, there is nothing else.
Good luck to you and all your “believers”.
    Sincerely,
    Reality
P.S. I don’t know that Quinn is the answer either, and I doubt that he is, but he can at least manage a game and command a huddle.

At least we’ve been getting some fun games to watch lately.

    286 yards rushing?
    Yet another home loss?
    To Cleveland?
    League leader in dropped passes?
    No identity on offense?
    No credibility with the media?
No credibility with the fans, as evinced by this past weekend’s first blackout in recent history?
What’s happening in KC is chilling. The one extra win this year is a false indication that this team is better than the one to take the field last year. Before the new GM discussed “changing the culture” in KC and made thinly veiled criticisms of the outgoing mgmt crew and last year’s record, he should have been more diplomatic and waited to see what kind of product hit the field this season. Now he’s choking on those words and Clark Hunt is silently embarrassed with this year’s results after all the energy he spent last year trying to assemble the right pieces to turn the franchise around.
So far Matt Cassel looks like nothing more than fool’s gold. Strategically, there was logic to trading Tony Gonzalez to Atlanta for a future 2nd round pick, but what they did was trade an icon for an intangible promise. The new coach, with great credentials as an OC and clearly a smart offensive guy, changed the offense after preseason week 3, instead of two months into the job or at least during training camp. Now the team has no star players (many good players), lacks any kind of identity on offense, and has reached a new low of dropping a home game to a poor Browns team.
This organization needs an intervention. It needs credible, experienced leadership. And if not for the deep pockets of the Hunt family, this crew would be putting this organization out of business.
