With Jon Gruden’s former lieutenant in Oakland and Tampa, Bruce Allen, the new General Manager of the Redskins, Gruden’s name has emerged as a potential candidate to coach the team, if the attempt to land Mike Shanahan falls through.
“I’m not coaching,” Gruden said. “I’m gonna stay with the team I’m on. The only team I’m gonna coach is my 13-year-old son’s flag football team.”
So there you have it. Gruden won’t be back on the NFL sidelines in 2010. But at least he’ll be helping to expand the vocabularies of America’s youth.
