Stafford likely out again, but Lions won’t name starter

Taken in the second round of the 2007 Draft, Drew Stanton was once a candidate to be the “quarterback of the future” in Detroit.

With Matthew Stafford expected to miss another week, he may at least get to start a few games in the present. Stanton replaced Daunte Culpepper to open the second half of Detroit’s loss to Arizona and the offense quickly turned around.

“We put 17 [offensive] points on the board in a half of football and in the National Football League, that’s a good half of football,” said Jim Schwartz, the football coach of the Detroit football team. Football.

Culpepper has not been playing well, so the Lions may as well get a look at Stanton. Despite the offensive improvement Sunday, however, Stanton’s numbers were dreadful: 72 yards on 19 attempts, with an interception.

There was one positive to draw for the Lions from their close loss. Along with Tampa’s victory, Detroit moved up to the second slot for next year’s Draft, according to these opponent winning percentage numbers.

Cue the “Who cares about the Lions?” comments.
