Brady Quinn’s season is over

It’s anyone’s guess if Mike Holmgren sees Brady Quinn as a possible starter for next year’s Browns team.

We do know that Holmgren won’t get to evaluate Quinn any more this season.

The Browns announced on Twitter that Quinn has been placed on injured reserve with a foot injury. Derek Anderson will start Sunday against the Raiders.

The news is a surprise because there were no reports previously that Quinn was even hurt. His numbers, however, were hurting during Cleveland’s current two game winning streak. Quinn completed only 16-of-36 passes for 156 yards combined in the wins.

It’s hard to evaluate any quarterback on an offense as bad as these Browns, but Quinn hasn’t proven yet he can a viable NFL starter. His accuracy and ability to go down the field looked shaky in nine starts.

Out of 33 qualifying NFL quarterbacks, Quinn finishes second to last in completion percentage and yards-per-attempt. The only player Quinn bests in both categories: JaMarcus Russell, of course.

2007 was clearly not a good year to select a quarterback at the top in the NFL Draft.
