Brohm expected to get the call

Last night, we passed along the first rumblings that the Bills may be forced to start third-stringer Brian Brohm at quarterback this Sunday against the Falcons.

The Buffalo News says it's going to happen.

Brohm is expected to get the start with Ryan Fitzpatrick hurt and Trent Edwards out for the season.  A pair of crutches rested at Fitzpatrick's locker Monday.

Bills fans were hoping for Brohm to get some action this year, but he's getting put in a difficult spot.  He hasn't practiced with the regular Bills offense since joining the team a month ago.

For Brohm, it's a chance to wash off the stink of his Green Bay days, when he couldn't even make the active roster this year despite being taken in the second round of the 2008 draft.

Look for a lot of handoffs to Fred Jackson and Marshawn Lynch.  If ever there's a game to break out some Wildcat shenanigans, this has to be it.

Maybe now the Falcons will finally get those back-to-back winning seasons so we can all shut up about it already.

"A pair of crutches rested at Fitzpatrick's locker Monday."

What, is he supposed to be Tiny friggin' Tim?

Wow! As a Packer fan, I feel SORRY for Bills fans. You guys have no idea how terrible Brohm is. He had so many high expectations when we drafted him, but he looked pathetic throwing the ball.

If T.O. thought he had it bad with Trent Edwards, he is in for a surprise this week.

To all of the fantasy owners who have T.O. or Evans in your lineup, BENCH them now. They will not see the ball.

With only Bills and Bucs left, it looks like they may be able to pull it off. But then again, at the beginning of the season who would have thought they would be at 7-7 in week 16.

    LOL

I don't think the Indy-Buffalo game for 16-0 will be nearly s compelling as the New England-New York Giants game in 2007.

I think Brohm will do fairly well, and eventually become a respectable starting QB somewhere. Probably not Buffalo, but somewhere.

Of course we all know Ted Thompson can't differentiate between talent and a lump in the snow, so it wouldn't be the first time he cut someone just to watch them go on to do great things elsewhere, all the while paying millions to keep Jarrett Bush.

Buffalo will keep it close, but never beat them, the ydon't get blown out, they jsut can't close games.
I am goign to stay positive and say I see changes in the future around Buffalo, but I also want to be realistic as I remember tha t 93 year old owns the team and makes all the decisions....wan wah.

Hey Emoney - In case you have not been watching the Bills QB play has been horrible all season. Any fantasy owner with TO and Evans has surely buried them deep on their bench by now. In 2 of the last 3 weeks the QB has thrown for less than 100 yards and in the other week he threw for under 200 yards. Understand that Brohm is likely a dud, but the Bills need to throw him out there for 2 weeks and determine whether or not they should bring him back next year. This is preseason for Buffalo and the top 2 QBs already really suck! Nothing to lose here in Bills land by playing Brohm.

That's true. I hope the guy works out for you, but he was a major disappointment for us. I just don't think he's the answer. Maybe I'm wrong. Hopefully I'm wrong.

With the smell of the paper mills and the B.O. of packer fans who don’t bathe that smell can last a long time.

Yeah like he had any chance of being successful in Green Bay. Dude, had he stayed in Green Bay, he would of been nothing more than a backup. So I am not sure why you are making a big fuss out of this. Plus, he couldn't even beat out Matt Flynn, who is becoming a decent backup.

This will be worse than a Jamarcus Russell ugly performance. The guy has no confidence or decisiveness so every time he drops back he forgets everything he's ever learned about moving his feet and reading defenses.

But not quite as long as the musty smell of a trophy case which has been waiting almost 50 years for just one World Championship trophy. Or a worn bandwagon which has had so many Mud Duck backsides skid on and off of it over and over and over again. Case...... dismissed!

it's hard to believe he went that bad that quick, can't help but think he'll devolp into a good QB---WITH GOOD COACHING, in the right situation

  15. last starfighter says: December 22, 2009 5:06 PM

    Good Job TheBaySay-

Packer envy has gotten pretty bad. People reach for things to knock the Pack for, come up empty and have to resort to riddiculing the middle class. Pretty pathetic IMHO.

Brohm will never be anything in the NFL. That is about as closed to a guarantee as there is. You do realized that 5-6 other teams were interested in Jarrett Bush as a restricted free agent, right?

  17. ParkerFly says: December 22, 2009 7:59 PM

Beer Cheese Soup, did you ever watch Brohm play with the Packers? Cutting him is one move the Packer fans will never question Thompson over. He was just BAD.
