We addressed in some detail during PFT Daily the situation that has arisen between Vikings coach Brad Childress and Vikings quarterback/coach Brett Favre.
We addressed it in even more detail with Vikings play-by-play man Paul Allen of KFAN on Tuesday. In lieu of transcribing my own words (I think I said “blowed out” twice), I’ll merely run the link to P.A.’s podcast page.
The segment starts roughly two-thirds of the way into the one-hour clip from the show.
I also touched on the Favre-Childress schism with Dan Patrick, along with a bunch of other issues. You can listen to it right here.
“situation” ?? This is BS, let it go. Coaches & QB’s have heated arguments all the time.
If Favre gets constapated do you make it front page news ?
all hail lord farve the coach killer… you wanted him , now got him in his prime me, me , me attitudes. what a tool he is…….
“Childress is in a no-win situation with Favre” Hey he went out on a limb to get himself into this situation. He can hardly complain now.
Only I win. Well, except when I throw too many picks. Must by my (insert malady here) acting up again. Did I ever mention how much I love the game and how much fun I’m having out there? And don’t forget to buy Wrangler jeans for your friends and family for Christmas.
I don’t believe in imaginary deities, but I am PRAYING that the Vikings lose their last two, drop to the 4 seed and face Green Bay in the first round of the playoffs.
Don’t laugh, Minnesota “fans”, the way your team is crumbling, it’s very possible Favre quits in the cold in Chicago, and an inspired Giants team with something to play for could do it week 17.
How great would it be for Green Bay to go into Minnesota and knock off the Vikings?
Do it for Ted!!!!!!
11-3 a no win situation??? Rediculous
2 of the 3 losses have looked really bad no doubt, but the vikings still won the NFC North ( first time thats been done in back to back years since the 70′s), are in the playoffs, and got a shot at the title…this will be a non story again, after they destroy Chicago again…Come on Floihoe
So PFT is now gone full TMZ huh?
Florio you should have red OMG Breaking News! hues behind every headline. Pathetic.
*milk milk milk milk*
Florio, it does a body good!
Seems like you are single-handedly trying to keep this one alive. Good luck with that……ooooorrrrrr……maybe you realize that Brett Favre IS the NFL and will generate the most hits and MAYBE some of these idiots will listen to your crap on those “radio shows”.
Go ahead guys….start ripping Favre. Florio gets paid by the comment. Hence three or four threads about the same thing. Lemmings.
SCHISM!!!!
man i miss Emmitt now
he was what made NFL primetime an official ESPN product
another great player with no business analyzing anything
but there’s certainly no shortage of bodies there, didnt know it took 11 guys to fill a pre-game show as well
gimme Deion and Eisen, Mooch all day
but even Emmitt could call a game better than Bob Pappa given his myriad of broken words and sentence fragments he’s now trademarked
“none and void” = null and void
“rites of patches” = rites of passage
Whats the story?
“Do it for Ted”…..now that may be the funniest posting ever.
Packer fans are just lining up in support for Ted “alternative lifestyle” Thompson after trying to run him outta town when Brett handed the Packers their collective asses…..twice. I guess beating the likes of the Lions twice, Bears twice, Cleveland, St. Louis, San Fran, and losing to Tampa gives you Super Confidence in your GM now.
Chuck Norris’ enemies always face a no-win situation.
this is what Chilly gets, should of never brought in the douche bag…
I love how Viking fans get SO defensive now that there’s issues with Favre. You guys get so pissed because you know what’s happening to your hopes and dreams, and its hard for you guys to accept reality.
The Vikings should win this week against a pathetic Bears team, but you guys haven’t had this QB on your team when temps get low. He’s a totally different guy. I’ve watched him his entire career, and the last 5 years, its gotten worse and worse. Being a Viking won’t change things.
I’m not here to talk shit. I’ve learned that its pointless arguing with opposing fans because it’ll get you nowhere.
Hmmm…it would appear to me that Childress is in an 11-win (and counting), clinched the division before his team even played it’s 14th game of the season situation….but that’s just how I see it.
Hmm, let me see who wrote this…Mike Florio aka BobNelson aka JimmySmith aka douchebag. Seriously, quit making a mountain out of a mole-hill. No win situation with someone who took the team to an 11 win season huh. You make me hate sports writing you know that.
Well as a Packers fan i’m lovin it!!! The Vikes don’t wanna play GB again. I knew Chilly wasn’t strong enough to control Brett (i called it before he even signed) Only 3 men ever told Brett who was boss 1 being big Irv and 2 being Mike Holmgren and the other chastised for “forcing” him to make a a decision.
Go Packers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Viking fans in denial! haha! Go watch ESPN- they must be just dragging this thing out too for ratings purposes!
“Nothing to see here….move along….” hahaha!
Oh yeah congrats on the NFC North crown, gotta have something to brag aboutright?- put that trophy right next to all of the Super Bowl Lombardi troph..y…awwww….wait a minute….
Adam Chris…..I’m hurt. Didn’t know you literally took it in the can for Florio, like others have mentioned. My bad. BTW…I’m not new here. Just had to change my name because Florio can’t handle the truth. Surprise you don’t recognize me. I’ll probably be coming up with a new name again since I’m ripping on the guy that constantly has Florio’s nuttsac resting on his chin. See if you can guess my next name!
Mikey……I was being good. I’m just responding to your rump wrangler.
All Childress needs to know is that he can drive Favre back to the airport when he’s done. When he decides and all.
Favre got Chilly his contract extension.
Favre is the ONLY reason the Vikings sell-out their games. Last year they couln’t even sell-out a playoff game.
Favre is the main reason the Vikings have won as much as they have.
Get over it Chilly………you’re Favre’s bitch.
“That’s the way Florio runs this ship. 20-30 threads a day on 8-10 different topics, and 8-12 threads a day on one topic if it happens to involve Moss or Favre.”
Fixed.
Damn Florio, talk about beating a dead horse. Did you bring this shit up non stop when T.O. had worse disputes then this with all of his HC’s? Hell no.
Let this shit go already. The Vikings are the division champions, a playoff spot locked already and have 11 wins. Now if they were under .500 and the Favre signing totally blew up in their face, then I can see all of this. Its not like that, so let it go.
We all realize that the only thing you are good at is stirring up shit. Its not our fault that you sucked as a lawyer (if you really were one) and you suck at what you do now. All you do is rehash old shit to get people going. You are by far the worse sports reporter, writer, journalist I have ever had the displeasure of crossing paths with.
packerfanfornot4life –
Couldn’t agree with you anymore. Favre’s douche-o-meter starting heating up as soon as Irv passed on.
Keep the stories comin’!!! I love it.
Does it bother anyone else that Childress was calling all run plays when they couldn’t even get a yard on each one yet he gets mad at Favre for doing the right thing and throwing to get a first down. Maybe Favre is wrong to stay in the game but this is very telling of Childress’s approach to the game when only ahead by one score. He will never get a team to the SB (any team)no matter the talent level when he has a flawed approach.
Unless I miss my guess- this is one incident and the Vikings are still have a pretty good team. I guess this is another example of Florio beating a dead horse and stiring up the Favre haters to get web hits.
Laywers turned NFL bloggers cannot change their stripes. Florio you are the consumate shineola salesman, keep up the good work!
And to think Chilly even picked him up at the airport when Billy Joe got to town. Ungrateful bastard.
Oh yeah…one more thing viking fans- wait til you find out about the real Percy Harvin! His honeymoon will end soon enough- he was a complete assh*le at Florida, he actually had teammates transfer to get away from him. He’ll flunk another drug test wait and see!
I also know FOR A FACT that once he gets bored etc. he starts faking things such as headaches so he doesn’t have to practice during the week….but somehow on gameday…whoallla!! He’s all better!!
It’s a miracle!
Schism in Minny? Where are you getting this B.S., Florio? Besides, ESPN, SI, Pioneer Press, Star Tribune, your contacts. . . .
Oh and Twiz, since you struggle with acronyms: BS = Bull Sh*t and SI = Sports Illustrated. Got it?
@gregjennings
Yeah, except for the fact that the Vikings haven’t had a blacked out game since 1997. You forgot that part.
LOTS of misinformation around here today, and it’s coming from the PFT authors as well.

You must be an idiot or new to this whole sports/espn thing.
OF COURSE they are dragging it out on ESPN for ratings you moron!! You were probably one of the people that bitched about the non-stop Favre coverage in the off season because there were pointless stories when there was no update to report.
But NOW since the excessive coverage of this story suddenly supports your stupid little opinion the ESPN coverage must really “mean something”
Go watch your ESPN and get stupider ny the day please.
myballshurt:
I know what you mean. Florio is like the birth control pill. He blocks 99.8% of my posts just cuz he doesn’t like what I write!
BTW, so you all know – the only reason florio posts these is to plug his radio shows he is on….does it every week. Fine by me, no reason to get worked up.
Why all the fuss over a quarterback who has won exactly one SuperBowl in about two decades? We’re not talking about Joe Montana here … but more like Trent Dilfer – with hair.
Packer fans … you’re talking like you’ve been through a bitter divorce.
And Viking fans … let’s face it – you’re sleeping with the neighbor’s wife.
Chilly did win, even with the fact that he is a lousy, weak coach and Favre is an ass.
He got himself an extension.
I love how Vikings fans get so defensive & accuse Packers fans of sour grapes. Hey, you guys have a good team. Good for you. But please remember that we Packers fans have been dealing with Favre’s BS for a lot longer than you have. A Favre meltdown is inevitable. Always has been. I’ve always viewed it as a foregone conclusion, so I’m not even slightly passionate about the issue. It *will* happen.
Favre isn’t about “team,” he’s about Favre. Chilly had him under control for a little while, but the real Favre will come out. You saw a glimmer of it when he disregarded Chilly’s call to run out the clock against the Packers and instead threw a long bomb to run up the score. (Unsuccessfully, I might add.) That decision nearly lost you the game. You saw more of it this week when Favre refused to come out of the game. Agree or disagree with a coach’s call, as a player you do what he says. But Favre isn’t a “just a player,” is he? In Favre’s mind, he’s the coach, the play caller, the offensive coordinator, the GM – a one man football team, without whom the team is hopeless.
Give yourselves a little credit, Vikings Nation – you had a pretty darn good team without Favre. And you’d probably be in the exact same situation right now had you not signed him, minus maybe one game or two. Just because T-Jack isn’t the answer doesn’t mean that Favre is. Just think where you’d be, this season and 5 seasons from now, if you’d made a play for someone like Matt Cassell – a hard-working game manager minus an ego bigger than the Metrodome.
People unfamiliar with or uncritical of Favre chalk his antics up to “huge heart, burning desire to win.” Yeah, he wants to win. Singlehandedly. And that’s the problem with Favre. He’s about “me,” not “us.” He’s about “Brett,” not “team.”
Just as the sun rises and sets, Favre will ruin your season. Bank on it.
Skol Favre!
“I guess beating the likes of the Lions twice, Bears twice, Cleveland, St. Louis, San Fran, and losing to Tampa”
Last time I checked, the Vikings beat those exact same teams but you idiots go around bragging that you are better than the Saints. Hyprocrites. Oh, did I mention that you lost to the Panthers? Actually, they didn’t just lose to the Panthers, they got humiliated. It’s even more humiliating when their starting QB was a backup.
For those morons saying that the Vikings don’t want any part of GB again, get real. The Vikings completely owned your team and you know it. We sacked the holy hell out of Rodgers in both games and disrupted your game both times.
I will not lie, if Rodgers has time to throw the ball, he is a very good QB. The problem when he play us is this, he is on his back more then on his feet. I don’t care how good of a QB you are, your are nothing when you are on your back all day long, and GB doesn’t have the man power to stop Minnesota’s DL.
So we have 3 losses and now all of a sudden or season is over? Please. What does that say for GB who has 5 losses, and is not even close to locking a playoff spot down? You GB fans act like you are without question heading to the playoffs, and its not a certainty. Get there first before you talk shit.

Why? We have absolutely zero to do with the product on the field. You realize that, don’t you? You’re not a member of the Vikings. Therefore, you can go ahead and draw some feeling of personal self-worth out of the Vikings’ success… But don’t expect anyone else to do it.
You’ve made your name on this site by idiotic drivel. Whether the Vikings finish in first or last won’t change it. And it certainly won’t change anyone else’s opinion of you.

I wouldn’t deny there’s more stories about the Packers and Vikings than probably any other teams here… But let’s be serious here. If Peyton Manning and Jim Caldwell got into it on the sidelines, then Peyton threw Caldwell under the bus in his post-game press conference there’d be 8-12 threads on that, too.
Like I said, this isn’t any different than Florio’s normal stream-of-consciousness posting style.
For those Viking fans who keep talking shit about Florio, why do you come on his website and read his posts then if you think he’s an idiot?

You’re that Magik fag aren’t you? I think he’s the turd who always called Thompson “alternative lifestyle”. Hey, I’ve got news for you, Fagik… Childress is the cross-dresser. He also talks at great length about his QB’s groin.
If anyone’s leading an alternative lifestyle, it’s that guy.
Favre & the Vikings would’ve beaten Tampa Bay in Tampa, I bet.
AD4MVP- you are right I am an idiot. I’ve known that for some time now….I’m not proud of it….but I’ve just learned to accept it.
Sorry I made you mad….I really mean it. I didn’t come here to make enemies, I really didn’t. Dummies like me cannot afford to do that, I need all the friends I can hang on to.
One more thing, when you sit in your recliner on Sunday February 7th 2010, preparing to watch the Super Bowl…I want you to take a moment to reflect. Reflect back to today…the day you called me a “stupider” & an idiot. Then I want you to turn your attention back to your TV & wonder why the Viking aren’t playing in the Super Bowl…..think of me….think of this date…the lonely idiotic LaughingClown sitting saying I told you so dumbass.
You know Florio, you really are a little B!tch. For years you took every opportunity you could to dump on Favre and then this year when he comes back and started playing lights out Football you couldn’t stop kissing his A$$.
I bet you were to much of a pu$$y to ever play the game yourself weren’t you ?
Funny thing is, I bet your one of those tools that would kiss Favre’s a$$ if you ever met him face to face but since you’re such an insignificant little girl in the real world of Football you know that will never happen so why not be the puss you are and take a bunch of cheap shots with your blog ?
I know, the PFT readers won’t see this since you’re a little candy a$$ princess but it felt good to say.

…and a few “Access Vikings” premium stories
Where do you think Florio gets his stories from? You think he comes up with all that information on his own? No, he reads all the publications and puts out his own posts with links to the original articles.
Chilly is an idiot. Let’s just face it. His keep them close and win at the end strategy is not working great. We need the team to become more audibles, passing, etc… Chilly cannot realize that.
Now onto more pressing issues. This is not a problem in Minnesota…We are 11 and freaking three! Sure the Eagles are breathing down on our neck, but we are in the playoffs, we will host at least one game, and if you expect AD and our D to become complacent come playoff time, you’re a moron! The fact of the matter is that even good teams have bad games. Every team in the NFL gets hot and every team gets cold. The Bucs beat the Pack earlier in the season, Washington nearly beat Dallas and the Saints. Upsets happen all the time. Sure the Vikings are not looking like the best team in the NFL, but then again, neither are the Saints. Oh yeah, Didn’t Philly lose to Oakland at one point? Yeah.
Now for the Packer’s fans. Every Vikings fan knew what we got when we aquired the services of one Brett Favre. He will win games, lose a couple, and run his mouth. That’s just Favre. But I would sure take 11-3, division champs, in the playoffs over 9-5, not in the playoffs yet. So Packers fans who want to tell the Vikings that Favre is a drama etc, etc, etc, can save it. I actually kinda hope the Vikes face the Pack in the Playoffs, a chance to watch A-Rod get sacked 8 more times and lose the game is a good thing.
What is up with this site….

Adam, this isn’t smashmouth talking here, so don’t take it personally… but man, you need a hobby!
Arguing on an internet site doesn’t count… I’ve been down that path man, it gets quite ridiculous after awhile, trust me, I’ve been there!
LaughingClown
sorry… get “more stupid” by the day
When did I make any mention of the vikings playing in the super bowl? I am confused how you can say “I told you so” to something I never even said! Nice argument jackass…
My original point was that obviously ESPN is blowing this whole story up for ratings just like every other favre story.
I actually kind of hope the vikings lose out, that way on wild card weekend when the packers roll into the metrodome we can stomp them for the 3rd time and you can sit there in your recliner and read about favre stories all day on ESPN! Of course, these will be real stories… not just for ratings.
Childress gets what he deserves…BTW, Chilly’s headset is the best in the NFL.
Is that the “My Little Pony” or “Dora the Explorer” model?
Vikings fans. In the Childress era, your teams have gone 6-10, 8-8 and 10-6. Tarvaris is a year older and you had the same cupcake schedule the Packers have had. Let me ask you something.
Do you really think you are better off with Favre?
Last year, with T-Jack/Frerotte, you were playing your best football in December. You bring in a guy known for playing poorly down the stretch and in the playoffs. And suddenly it’s, “Well, Favre is still better than what we had.” I understand the few Packer Favre-apologists. How can you guys justify it?
@Adam-Chris Scheftersen:
My mistake for thinking there are people smart enough to figure out I was talking about TODAY only, not Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
You did get me on the Star Trib one, they have posted a whole two stories so far today, one being an update. One would expect that though, being the home team newspaper.
Grow up, get a life and come back when you have something intelligent to say!
If Childress was coaching the AFC Pro Bowl team against the St Louis Rams, I bet the Rams would cover the spread. You don’t go out and get a HOF QB and then try to reteach him to play chillyball.
Florio
What is this infatuation? Let it go man. Even the 4th graders are getting tired of it (man I’ll be glad when schools back in).
Pack fans–don’t be so anxious to face the Vikes again. It will be at their house, which as bad as it is, it is indoors. That would be some heavy crow to have to eat getting swept 3 times by Favre. My hope is that if the Pack does get to the payoffs, and they do end up matched against the Vikes it will at least be in the NFCCG game, not the first round.
Just sayin, keep emotions in check and use some logic. Let’s see how the next 2 weeks go.
Still much better than Tjack.
Vike fans, you have won the division, yes, clinched a playoff spot, yes, but those things came when you were winning early in the season, by pounding the rock with the best player in the game……to think that Favres temper tantrums wont impact anything based on early season success is ignorant. It is obvious he wants to throw it around instead of run Peterson. Its obvious he has a problem with authority, and its obvious his production slips dramatically when he begins controlling the play calling and in essence the organization.
If he is not held in check, he will ruin the rest of the season for you, and be playing golf after the 1st round of the playoffs.
“The Vikings are the division champions, a playoff spot locked already and have 11 wins. Now if they were under .500 and the Favre signing totally blew up in their face, then I can see all of this. Its not like that, so let it go.”
The vikes are probably the worst 11-3 team ever. Man this is not a play-off team, they really stink outside the dome…hell they kind of stink at the dome too, but hey they win there right, LOL!
Wow…..Pretty easy to get under your skins. I’m not a viking fan….not even close. I am a GBP shareholder…..just not a hingehead.
Adam Chris’s post gets through while others don’t because he is that little dweeb that does those dumbass PFT videos with Florio. He will deny it but trust me he is. He’s been pissy since Florio sold out to NBC and left him behind. Relax Adam Chris Mikey will be back once NBC cans his ass just like ESPN did.
Ruvell100
If you watched Tjack in the playoffs last year it is pretty obvious why all vikings fans feel much better off with Favre. Hey, we may still have to deal with TJack in the future since Chilly still refuses to be proven wrong with him…. so why not take the chance on Favre?
Put a fork in the Vikings. They are done. Can’t win in December means they won’t win in January either. One and done. You heard it here.
Do you Packer fans forget the Vikings whipped your asses TWICE this year also????
Hey Chilly- Favre rules the roost!
Chilly needs to watch more classic movies and learn from them….
“What we’ve got here is failure to communicate. Some men you just can’t reach. So you get what we had here last week – which is the way he wants it. Well, he gets it.”
As a Vikings fans watching them fail on that slippery surface in Carolina was not fun to watch obviously. But let’s not forget that they obliterated a potential first round bye AFC team the week prior on turf. Not all is lost just because they had a couple poor road games. This is still basically the same collection of guys that has obliterated a lot of teams this season.
As for the Favre/Chilly schism or whatever the pundits want to over exaggerate things into, Favre has the same power as any other starting QB on a playoff team. If Aaron Rodgers starts yelling at the coaching staff it isn’t like they are going to bench him and essentially forfeit any chances at a post season run just because the kid doesn’t have the clout of a Brett Favre.
Even great teams can look terrible in a couple games. It has me worried and I’m sure the team is as well, but having watched this team all season it is obviously all correctable. And as long as they play on turf in the playoffs we’ll be in the super bowl. You heard it hear first folks.
Stop saying “you heard it here first folks”!
No, we didn’t. Someone, somewhere, already said it, because half the drivel you people spew (Vikes and Pack fans alike) is old rehashed fanboyism, which has been around since the advent of sports teams.
Get over yourselves.
If any of you morons who think it was Ted Thompson who drove Brent out, WRONG. That’s just a convenient story for all of you to glom onto. It was probably McCarthy actually holding him to account for his knucklehead ducks he’d throw into double coverage or giving him lip that made him “retire” (cue crocodile tears).
See, he didn’t have Mike Sherman around to give in to him and kiss his rear anymore and he HATED the fact that McCarthy *actually* made him work in the off-season and got in his face and was a coach, not his lapdog.
Sherman thought Brent had his back when the talk of firing him was coming up and guess what? He didn’t…just like now, #4 was and is in it for himself.
Maybe Chilly should make peace and get a better look at Bretts groin again (headset and whisker burns optional).
God you people STFU your so annoying do you even watch the games the fact of the matter is the o-line with 2 new starters is beginning to show cracks. IE December football and Thats why Favre is getting pressured and why Peterson is strugging plain and simple. What did you all expect really anyway. Get over it, it is what it is and that is not Favre’s fault (fudgepacker fans).
Peace out!
csaber…you are an idiot….Rip on Sherman all you want…. he just won…never had a losing record until Teddy came along. This is Thompson’s 5th season and he has had one winning record until now and that was when Favre carried his ass.
Why you dumbass Packer fans continue to open your mouths and revise history is amazing. You were blowing Brett every F-ing season until Ted “alternative lifestyle” Thompson decided he blew…..so now he blows and always did to you. This is why as a TRUE Packer fan I get sick everytime one of you assholes open their mouths.
Mynutshurt: Quit acting like something you’re not…you’re no Pack fan, you’re just a Favre jihadist.
keep these FARVE-CHILLY stories coming FLORIO, reading these responses are great, besides we get the media windbags defending FARVE’s actions as being “a great competitor”, instead of this being the third team he’s had issues with…besides FARVE probably mistook CHILLY for his limo driver, or a coss dressing stewerdess, instead of HIS HEAD COACH
No question Childress was thinking about shaking
it up with Jackson. Pretty obvious Favre had
no footing on that field. Jackson may have been
able to move around and jump start the offense.
No tjack fan here. But he would have done better.
Childress wasn’t concerned about Favre taking
a beating. He knew he needed to change things
up. Now we have a huge problem. What happened to when Favre said he may not be able
to go the whole season? A dual headed QB
situation could possibly get the Vikings into and
beyond the NFC championship.
Very disappointed in Favre. Sure Childress is
a knucklead but I thought in 2nd quarter we

anyway.
favre was ignoring the fact that their best weapon is still peterson. reason enough to chew his ass.

classic post lurch
It’s really quite simple once you get over the blame one person or two (Chilly, Favre). The Vikings were flat in all phases of the game and they got beat because of it. To say that Favre is the sole reason for the TEAM’S performance against the Panther’s is quite shallow. Football is a team sport. Win together, lose together. If you can’t block or tackle, you can’t win the game. SIMPLE! STOP blaming Favre or chilly alone. That’s just plain stupid, but then most of the posts on here are just that, both by the author’s of said posts as well as the responses.
Childress in a no win situation? Yeh, “Hey Brett, I was thinking of sitting you because I’m afraid you will get hurt.” “Thanks coach, I will sit because I was afraid I was gonna get hurt too.” I would have called them BOTH pussies if that happend…….
Not even Lord Favre can grant Chilly’s wish of winning ONE playoff game. No, the bye week does not count.
where is John Madden in all this craziness? is there ANYONE who has a bigger man-crush on Farve, and perpetrated all these phony myths about Farve, than Madden? unless you’re a Vikings fan, this stuff is funny, because the mainstream sports media, continues to perpetrate the Madden myth, while most people see him as something totally different…
Florio is such an incredible phony, and this non-story is just more Olbermann-ization of the news. I heard Florio today on a radio show comparing Favre wanting to stay in the Carolina game to what Peyton Manning said after their Thursday night game – that he would do whatever the Head Coach Caldwell said, in terms of playing some, most, or all of the last 2 games. What ??? Although Manning DID admit he wanted to play all of both games ! Guess Florio “forgot” that !
That’s not even comparing apples to oranges, it’s comparing apples to elephants. First off, the win by Indy took them to 14-0 and guaranteed them home field advantage throughout the playoffs – in the Queens game they were still in the hunt for a #1 seed and homefield advantage themselves, not to mention they are trying to hold off the Eagles from getting the #2 seed away from them. What coach would pull his starter then ??? Maybe if he’d had 3 intereceptions, but Favre didn’t have any.
Does anyone think Caldwell or Dungy would have “EVER” taken Manning out with him up 7-6 in the 3rd quarter in that situation ??? Not … a … chance. And the idea that Manning, or Brady or McNabb or Brees or whoever wouldn’t have bristled at being taken out in that situation, is complete bull$hit. They would have pitched a fit. Ofcourse no other coach would have been that stupid to even suggest it to begin with but such is the mind that is Childress, but the idea that ANY quarterback in that situation would go “oh, okay, I’ll just sit on the bench” with all that was on the line for the Queens in that game, is simply ridiculous. I’d be more concerned if Fvare DID want to come out in that situation.
Hey Florio: a.) name another Head Coach that would take out his star quarterback in that situation ??? And b.) Name another quarterback that would just willingly go sit on the bench in that situation ??? The answers are none, and none. But of course Florio doesn’t ever mention THAT. Even as a lifelong Packers fan this is amazing that this is even a story, but I’m sure Florio will milk it for everything he has and there’ll be another 50 posts about this non-story over the next several weeks, even if (god forbid) the Queens make the Super Bowl.
Besides, didn’t Manning wave off Dungy when he wanted to punt on 4th down a couple of years ago and he kept the offense on the field and went for it ??? I guess Florio “forgot” that incident too !
I can only IMAGINE the $hitstorm Florio and the other hypocrites in the media would drum up if Favre ever waved off a 4th down punt and went for it, against the wishes of his Head Coach.
Florio is a West Virginia lawyer trying to make a living trashing a legend. Any other quarterback would have been called competitive, but Florio is making a living on trying to convince people that Brett Favre is a football diva, however, more and more understand his blog is starting to sound like a desperate x ambulance chaser. But I give him credit, he is much better than Adam Schiffter, the orginal hobbit.
