It’s no secret that many NFL players thought Vick should not have been imprisoned for “just ” killing dogs. I am sure many players from around the league participated in dogfighting and dog killings as guests of Vick. And as reward for Vick taking the fall, not pointing fingers and keeping his mouth shut, Vick was given another job by the league, and the players gave Vick some sort of an award. The NFL is filled with creeps, crooks, coverups and cheats; look no farther than in New England.

I read a few of your replies about Vick and his nomination for the courage award and that in itself says that he qualifies. Some of you Christian types don’t seem very Christian as you set in judgement. The real deal is opinions are like A–holes everybody has one. His teammates thought he should be nominated and they are the ones who vote, so why don’t you nay sayers shut the f— up and get a life. The real shame is there is no room in your heart to truly forgive. I bet you are the same people that allow your kids to talk back to you.

As one of the biggest Vick haters that visits this here website I must say ya’lls are being a bit critical of Mr. Florio.
He has taken the same stance as most respectable media outlets and called this a award a sham.
Most every other Vick article has been unbiased towards Vick, and I have read them all. Got to a point where I started to hate Florio a bit.
He promoted Vick’s official website unbiasedly even when it is obvious Vick didn’t write the article authored by him.
He wrote about Vick’s ghost written blog entry on Russel Simmon’s site which was supposed to be written by Vick as well, but obviously wasn’t.
Yada, yada.
Stop throwing rocks at everyone who says something bad about your convicted felon hero. You’re gonna run out of rocks soon.

Not Brian Westbrook, who had surgeries on his knee and ankle in the off-season and is trying to return after two concussions in one month.
Not Antonio Dixon, a long-shot undrafted free agent defensive lineman who was homeless as a child.

It’s understandable to want to honor a player attempting to turn his life around, but giving him an award based on preventing child abuse is not the way to do it.
The local Philadephia papers were not alone in pointing out the Eagles had plenty of other deserving candidates to choose from — guys who were longshots just to make the NFL, or whose comebacks they judged more inspiring because the starting point was injury and not recklessness. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals predictably piled on, saying the decision by Vick’s teammates was “not appropriate and does not mark a joyous moment in NFL history.”

Why doesn’t Michael Vic give a HUGE doantion to “Dog Town” Thay are the real heros with courage, saving and rehabilitating all of his PittBulls from the horrific things they were forced to do. As a Master Dog trainer I am sick to my stomache over this. He will always be a Dog Killing, masocist, in not only in my eyes, but in the eyes of everyone with morals, including the Lord. Do you people even understand how bad it really was?
Pulling the teeth out of the females so they can be raped over and over to reproduce in a small cage. Some were dragged to fight, and they threw innocent, non fighting dogs in the ring for practice to be malled and discarded like trash. Shame on Vic the Dick, and anyone whom is on his side. Mike is a very mentally unstable person whom needs real help. If he gets the Awrad I will never watch Football again. What does that say about the Philadelphia Eagles ? I only hope that Mike will be malled by a pack of abused PittBulls, then we shall see how tough he is. He does not deserve to have an Award for courage, because he is the biggest COWARD of all !

Regardless of what any of us think about Vick, there is something no one has talked about…he will get his just rewards when he goes before God. In many of your opinions he has displayed great courage in coming back from prison and returning to the NFL. Gee Whiz…what else was he going to do…go flip burgers at McDonalds? In my opinion Vick is one of the worst human beings who ever walked this earth (yes, you might say I am an animal lover even though Pit Bulls do not rank high on my list of favorite dogs). However, my opinion doesn’t really matter. I would not want to be in his shoes when God opens His Book of Life and looks down upon Vick! So Vick, go on and accept all the awards given to you…but I hope you tremble with fear at night when you try to go to sleep thinking about what God is going to do with you come judgement day…AND THAT DAY IS COMING!!!

Vick deserves a second chance, as any man does. But, allowing his teammates to honor him with this award is a disgrace. He has far from redeemed himself either on the field or off yet. A role model he is not. We are talking about a man who’s own father stood up and told the world he warned to change his ways. This does show how out of line with normal thinking this was. The Eagles organization should be ashamed at allowing this. Vick, himself should have declined. That would have showed some character.

I love dogs and our dogs were always treated with respect and forgiveness when they chewed the rug. What Mike Vick did to those poor animals was horrible. Having said that, Vick has served his sentence and he has paid a huge price for the actions he took. But get over it, the Eagles and the NFL have given the man a second chance. End of story. Since most of us never heard of this award I believe the world will continue to turn and the sun will come up tomorrow. Merry Christmas to you, Mike Vick and all the people who received a second chance. Peace!

How about someone go over to the oriental part of the world and stop people from making dogs and cats into delicassies. Then, after you’ve protested this, come back and rescue a hundred pit bulls from bad homes and adopt them, then go volunteer Vick’s prison sentence in a Humane Society, then come back and comment. If you’re not part of the solution, you’re a part of the problem.

Ok! The man did not kill humans.. How many children were killed today and we are still talking about animals. I don’t think what the man did was right however, how about we attempt to protect our kids from getting killed instead of worrying about Michael Vick and something he did years ago. I asked myself….. and my answer was that i’d feel ashamed recieving it. i dont lie to myself, so i’d know i had yet to do enough to be celebrated and that i hadn’t struggled more than even 15% of the world at any point in my pampered life. It would, however, serve as a reminder to me to continue to do more good ((karma’s a bitch))… & then i’d try to find a low-key way to return the award or have it nominated to one of the other (from what ive heard) 4 good candidates on the team.

During puppy-killer-turned-Eagle Michael Vick’s interview, a reference was made to a team of PR and image consultants who were working to help rebrand Vick to the masses following his release from federal prison. One of the consultants shown was Washington, D.C.-based Judy Smith. Smith, a former White House press aide under the first President Bush, came under fire earlier this year while working for New York Gov. David Paterson, and was blamed for telling reporters that Caroline Kennedy would not be considered for Hillary Clinton’s vacated Senate seat due to problems related to taxes, her marriage and a nanny. Smith was reported in February to have orchestrated the public attacks on Kennedy and her character, though signs later pointed to Paterson as having approved of the leaked info. Smith did not return an e-mail yesterday asking when she started working with Vick and whether she was hired by him or by the Eagles organization. Regardless, I can’t understand how a group of individuals who undoubtedly haven’t had any primary contact with Mr. Vick, can justify this stance. You have dismissed the votes of an entire organization? Based on what? Given the fact these players interact with Mike Vick on a daily basis I would expect them to best be able to judge the character of Mr. Vick, not your staff.
