Ozzie says Seahawks haven't called about DeCosta

We identified on Tuesday the list of candidates for the G.M. position in Seattle.

Later in the day, Patriots coach Bill Belichick was asked about the report as it relates to two of his front office employees, Jason Licht and Floyd Reese.  Belichick offered up a typically vague non-answer.

“There’s a process in place for those types of thing, right now, we’re
focused on Jacksonville,” Belichick said, per the Boston Globe.  “Any questions about that
should go to the league office, or the people involved.”

On Wednesday, Ravens G.M. Ozzie Newsome was asked about the presence of director of player personnel Eric DeCosta’s name on the list.

Per Ken Murray of the Baltimore Sun, Newsome said that the Seahawks have not contacted him to request permission to interview DeCosta.

The question of whether the formal interview process has begun is separate and apart from the compilation of the list of candidates.

So if Newsome has yet to get a call, he likely will be getting one in time.  As will the bosses of the other candidates who currently don’t work for the Seahawks.

Interesting contrast between Newsome’s straight forward answer and Bellicheat’s BS non-answer.

I hear Vinnie Cerrato is available.

Ozzie didn’t get a call about DeCosta because DeCosta probably identified himself as a candidate to PFT. He is a well-known self promotor and PFT snitch in personnel circles, which is why his name always comes up here when it comes to either something “brilliant” in Baltimore or GM job openings.

Ravens will lose to their arch rivals Sunday. That is all Ozzie is concerned with. Go Steelers! Even though I can’t stand your team either.

@MrLBCrazy13 – do you know Eric DeCosta? Have you ever spoken to him. How do you know he is a PFT snitch. On what basis do you say that he is a self promoter. I’ve been in Bmore since the Ravens got here. His name has NEVER come up for a GM opening. He was a college scout just 4 years ago. I listen to every sports radio station in the area and read every blog about the Ravens in the area and I have never heard anyone say anything even remotely bad or controversial about Eric Decosta.
If you are going to mouth off something incredibly stupid like the tripe above, have some back-up. DeCosta said in an interview on a sports station here that Phil Savage’s experience (and now George Kokinis as well) was enough to make him realize that IF he goes it will be well thought out and not just for any situation.
If you don’t know WTF you are talking about then STFU. You may be anonymous, but you are anonymously stupid.

-Thanks Eric, Eric’s wife, Eric’s brother…whomever. There is no way on earth you could get so riled up about my post if you’re just a fan of the Ravens…and apparently Eric DeCosta.
“His name has NEVER come up for a GM opening”
-Then you obviously either can’t read or can’t hear.
“I listen to every sports radio station in the area and read every blog about the Ravens in the area and I have never heard anyone say anything even remotely bad or controversial about Eric Decosta.”
-That’s because he talks to the people who write these blogs or the radio stations so they make him sound like he’s the greatest thing since sliced bread. Try talking to some of the people who work with him and see what glowing things they have to say about him…and no, I’m not one of them Sherlock.
You’re the one who lacks “back up”…if you’re basing all of your credibility on blogs, interviews, and radio, then you’re just another clueless fan who thinks he knows everything.
Nice acronym usage as well…what are you, 13 years old?
I’m as anonymous as you are, but somehow I’m stupid because you don’t agree with what I have to say. I’ll bet you think Todd McShay is a draft guru too.
If you want to see someone who doesn’t know what they are talking about, then go buy a mirror.
