PFT's Week 16 picks are live

Despite our Schrutian vow to not shut down on major holidays, folks far more normal than us won’t be working on Friday.

And that has required us to accelerate the timetable for some of our weekly content that doesn’t appear exclusively on PFT.

For example, our game picks were submitted a day earlier this usual, and they’re now live for your amusement.

But, please, don’t wager the $10 Christmas check from Nana on the outcome of any of the games.

Man, I’m a Cowboys fan, but anyone that knows the history of this series should not count on a 35-14 blow-out, no matter the record.

i don’t really disagree with the titans chargers pick, but i do hope the score is more charger friendly ;-)
    titans are playing amazing though
no one wants to see them in the playoffs aside from indy

Nana is dead, but thanks for bringing that back up near the holidays. Ten bucks? The bitch gave us socks or fruit or coal. Glad she’s dead. Thanks again!
    Merry Christmas!

Florio is right. The cards did basically shut it down last year after they clinched the division.
Then they went to the super bowl as NFC Champs. Just thought I would mention that.

  5. SmellyPhartz says: Dec 23, 2009 11:29 PM

Florio, Are you sure you aren’t retarded? It seems as if you have no clue what you are talking about.
So you have a Eagles losing to the Broncos which can happen easily but you also point out that the game doesn’t really mean anything to the Eagles.
HOWEVER, You have the Bears beating the Vikings on Monday night….
If that happens and the Eagles DO win, they will then (by tiebreaker) take over the #2 seed.
So lets review once more….this game doesn’t mean much to the Eagles….you sure about that??

  6. Captain says: Dec 23, 2009 11:33 PM

I hope your picks don’t go against Chuck Norris’ picks. No one disagrees with Chuck Norris without a blow to the head. No one.

  7. gopher says: Dec 23, 2009 11:44 PM

Mike, thank you for picking the Bears to win, you just made my Xmas. I have insiders feeding me rumors that you have not a clue, so who am I to believe.

  8. Favre On HGH says: Dec 23, 2009 11:53 PM

Florio picks the NFC road teams.
Rosenthal does the AFC road teams.
    Direct your criticism accordingly.
No mention of last weeks record?
It is December. Phillip Rivers hasn’t lost a game in December dating to pee-wee football. Look it up.

Starting to think Florio throws darts @ matchups, and decides the winners that way.

  10. Favre On HGH says: Dec 24, 2009 12:04 AM

See the Colts putting up 28 by halftime, would take 3 games for the Jets offense to score that.
Think Cowboys 35, Redskins 14 might be a little favorable for the Skins. Will watch just to try and catch some more great play calling.
Bears 20, Vikings 14 seems plausible. Viqueers can’t play on grass, at night or in the cold. Bears have the advantage of getting all 3.

  11. Twiz says: Dec 24, 2009 12:16 AM

    The Bears over the Vikings?
Thanks Lord Florio, I needed the laff! That has got to be one of the more stupid picks you have made all year! Picking the Redskins to win the Super Bowl ranks number 1 no matter what other stupid pick you make, but this is real damn close!

  12. Q-in-Memphis says: Dec 24, 2009 12:32 AM

Here’s hoping Florio doesn’t know what the heck he’s talking about (Broncos 28 – Eagles 24). Go Eagles!!! It’s our time to shine, as in Lombardi shine!

  13. QotSA says: Dec 24, 2009 12:34 AM

Panthers will ruin the Giants’ final game at the Meadowlands. Carolina’s defense is playing lights out right now.

  14. Reginald says: Dec 24, 2009 12:43 AM

You’re picking the Eagles to lose simply because they’re “overdue to have one those inexplicable Eagles games”? Wow great logic. And saying it doesn’t matter much to Philly is absolutely ridiculous. 2nd seed? ringing any bells? No Eagles fan wants to rely on the Dallas game (In Dallas) to decide anything. That’s a lot more dangerous game to the Eagles than playing a horrible Denver team at home.

Yes, I know it was against the Redskins, but the attitude and energy of the G-Men pass rush has returned. Peppers will get to Eli a couple of times, but the defense is solid.
Also, how are the Colts gonna put up 31 against the best pass defense in the NFL?

  17. Adam says: Dec 24, 2009 2:17 AM

Cowboys should be cautious of Redskins. I thought they were gonna give the Giants hell…maybe they’ll save it for the boys.

You’d be tempted to say that corn florios pick of the bears would be bulliten board material, but thats assuming that people that matter actually read this site. yes, thats right, I’m one of the faceless, so what?

Still can’t understand why 7-7 Tennessee remains a 3 point favorite over 11-3 San Diego on a 9 game winning streak, and have won 18 December games in a row, Rivers having never lost a December game since being their starter, having won their last 7 games against Tennessee, Vince Young being 0-2 vs. San Diego and Titans putting 2 starting linebackers including their captain Keith Bullock on IR 3 days ago?
Of Tennessee’s 7 wins out of their last 8 games, ONLY one of those wins was over a team who is OVER .500. And it took converting three 4th down and long conversions on the final drive to beat Arizona(who played without Kurt Warner that game) by 3 points on the very last play of the game, a 4th and goal from the 11 to win it.
San Diego on the other hand has beaten(several very recently) of those 9 wins in a row these teams who are over .500 – Philadelphia, New York Giants, Cinncinati, Dallas and Denver.

Dude, like Dallas hadn’t won a game in December in a few years and the Dolphins hadn’t lost a game in December in a year and change as well. Look what happened last week.
    Streaks come to an end.

  21. dave says: Dec 24, 2009 9:19 AM

I love this sights best bets because against the spread if you go the opposite way of their pick you’ll win 90% of the time

  22. chunky soupy sales says: Dec 24, 2009 9:25 AM

“Dude, like Dallas hadn’t won a game in December in a few years ”
Actually Dallas beat the Giants in Dec last year.
People have blown up the Dallas/Dec thing so much you’d think they never won.

  23. dave says: Dec 24, 2009 9:40 AM

it’s not hard to understand why tenn is favored by 3
home team gets 3, chargers just won the west, as much as people deny it, teams main goal is to make the playoffs and win their division, they did that all in one day, the natural thinking is they’d be more relaxed and not try as hard (there is historical proof in the way of trends that backs this notion up)
also you have to factor in it’s not really 11-3 vs 7-7, it’s 9-0 vs 7-1 and the 1 for tenn was a loss to an unbeaten team.
obviously oddsmakres believe johnson will run all over a low ranked run D that the chargers have.
i hope they’re wrong, i hope sd kicks their asses, but it’s a road game, in the cold (even though sd plays decently in cold weather) and it’s vs another red hot team like themselves.
oddsmakres are counting on a letdown
the fact is, the game isn’t all that important for sd because with a NE loss (and NE is playing very inconsistant) or a sd win vs the redskins week 17 in sd (washington looks like twice baked shit) they’ll get the #2 seed anyway.

Here is an interesting twist to the next two weeks of NFL play in the NFC. Minn at 11-3, Philly at 10-4 and Arz. at 9-5, all three still have a shoot at the #2 playoff seed . . . so all 3 still have to play hard. Dallas, Green Bay and the Giants are most likely in a 3 way fight for 2 wild card spots. So in week 16 all 6 of these teams need to win to either keep control of their own destiny (Minn, Dallas and GB) or to keep their best possible outcome alive (Arz, Phila and NYG). So week 16 should be an excellent week of football with Minn and Dal both facing divisional spoiler rivals in Chi and Wash, and Philly facing a Denver team fighting for their playoff lives.
But week 17 could shape up to be an even better NFC week with Philly (going potentially going for the #2 seed) playing at Dallas (fighting for a wild card spot), the Giants (possibly trying to steal the last wild card spot) playing at Minn (trying to keep/win-back the #2 seed) and Green Bay (trying to hold onto one of the wild card spots) playing at Arizona (possibly having an outside chance at the #2 seeding). It doesn’t get any better than possibly having 5 of the NFC playoff seedings being competed for head to head by 6 teams in the last week of the season.
Oh one last thing for all fans of Minn, GB, Arz, Philly, Dal and NYG . . . depending on exactly how the playoff seeding settles in the last week of the game, there is a decent chance that 2 of these 3 games end up being rematches the very next week, as the first round of the NFC playoffs could line up to seed these teams against one another in back to back weeks.
No way the NFL schedule makers could have possably dreamed that the last week of the season could have shaped up so well.

Obviously, you are an idiot. He’s been here all week. His screenname is changed, he was banned under pervy.
You’d think you’d pick up on the similarities in the new names posts, not to mention it has pervy in it’s name.
