Roethlisberger wins AFC offensive POW award

Browns running back Jerome Harrison may have put up the third highest rushing total in history, but he wasn’t even the best offensive player in the AFC of the week, according to the NFL.

Ben Roethlisberger was announced as the AFC offensive player of the week award for his 503-yard performance over a previously strong Packers secondary.

Harrison had an easier opponent in Kansas City and his game lacked the playoff impact, but we suspect he had one of the greatest games in history ever not to win the award.

The defensive winner in the AFC was Ravens cornerback Dominique Foxworth, who picked off two passes in Baltimore’s win over the Bears.

In the NFC, Jonathan “The Daily Show” Stewart won the weekly honor for his 109-yard effort against Minnesota, and Cowboys linebacker DeMarcus Ware won the defensive award for his gutsy effort against the Saints.

Ware has enjoyed a lot of great career moments, but none top his second forced fumble to seal the victory over New Orleans.

PFT previously told you that Josh Cribbs and Ben Graham won the special teams awards.
