The questions regarding Brian Westbrook’s potential return from a concussion are over. We think.
Westbrook will return to the lineup this Sunday according to coach Andy Reid, barring any unexpected setbacks.
Reid says Westbrook is “ready to roll” and will practice with the first team offense as the Eagles prepare to play the Broncos Sunday. Reid said earlier in the week the team will be careful not to play Westbrook the whole game.
“[We will] make sure we keep track of how many plays he plays,” Reid said.
The Eagles have gone 6-1 without Westbrook this year, but he should make their backfield of LeSean McCoy and Leonard Weaver more dangerous.
And with his playing future still somewhat uncertain, Westbrook could provide an emotional boost for the team. Win one for Brian?
UPDATE: Reid said that McCoy is expected to start and take most of the running load.
Nice to see him back I hope he doesn’t get seriously injured while playing. He is one of the guys that I think deserve a championship before he retires.
I would hate to see what happens when he takes a hit. That’s walking a tightrope.
Fresh legs for the playoff run. Use him sparingly against Denver, blow the doors off Dallas then get serious about the whole thing…
Let’s hope they continue to run the ball. I’ve been extremely impressed with the pass/run ratio in the last five weeks or so. It’s amazing how you can control the tempo of the game when you’re not running the ball one time for every three passes.
Oh yea baby, healthy at just the right time. It was a blessing in disguise. A healthy and rested Westbrook going into the playoffs? It don’t get no better like Cassidy use to say.
Here’s the plan for Sunday (hopefully): Give Dawk his moment, go up on the Broncos by 3 TDs early, pull everybody by halftime. Then go home and root for the Redskins.
I’d like to see Bwest and Shady split in the backfield. LBs will be hopping all over the place pre-snap to figure out who to cover.
I seriously hope he doesn’t play scared. Good way to get hurt even worse…
It amazes me why the Eagles don’t run the screen more often! It was Westbrook’s bread & butter. I don’t know why they didn’t run it as much with McCoy. Hell, just ask Antonio Pierce about it last year…I think he’s still trying to catch BW.
Just stay healthy Brian. I hope this guy doesnt get another concussion this year. Play him wisely!!!!!
So Mr Glass is back! You Iggles fans are kidding yourselves if you think he’s gonna help you do anything this post season. When you need him most in a game, you know what’s going to happen. He’s better off on IR and so are the iggles.
I love having him back as a player but I hope he doesn’t take any more hits to the head this year. He’s a class act and I am concerned for him as a person more than I am for the Eagles need of him, especially his blocking in the playoffs.
Regardless of what happens on the field, I hope he can stay healthy. His presence will provide a spark for the offense as well as lift the morale of the team. He and Dawkins are 2 of my favorite Eagles of all time. Now I just hope that this weekend one of my favorite Eagles of all time doesn’t knock the crap out of my other favorite eagle and knock him out of the game.
@ Rickah99… the Birds HAVE been running the screen alot… they run it to all different positions though… and the broadcasters pointed it out also… they’ll run a screen to almost everyone – TE, HF, FB, WR – Heck, i’m waiting for them to run a screen out of the wildcat for Vick or McNabb…
Last game, I know that Shady had at least 3 looks and I think Weaver had one as well… that’s at least 4 that I can remember and most likely there were 1 – 2 more…
Tom Brady, Randy Moss, Dwayne Bowe, Asante Samuel, Ronnie Brown.
just want to see them turn red
I just hope they don’t rely on him too much. No offensive, but the Eagles have been doing fine without him.
2 concussions in 3 weeks, yeah it’s a brilliant idea to get him back on the field this year!
ANOTHER classless move by a classless organization in an attempt to satisfy a fanbase and city of classless human beings.
reports are out bwest wants to retire after this year due to his concussions so why waste the time. just put him on i.r. bwest is a great player but if he is just going through the motions and really will retires after this year he is worthless to us.
As a GIANT FAN, I seriously hope they play him
sparingly, if at all. This guy’s MENTAL HEALTH
is for his life is on “the Line”!
BRIAN: You got nothing to prove! GET TO THE BOWL, then, think about playing. EAGLES 6-1
without getting you DIZZY. lol. Jman.
As a giant fan you have to respect Westbrook, he has always been a class act and played the right way, without the dancing and running his mouth. I hope they are making the right decision about this guy. 2 concussions in 3 weeks is rough. there is no need to play him this week, the playoffs are clinched and for the amt of carries hell have, he wont be much of a factor, but one 3 yard run where he gets hit head on might be trouble. I dont get why reid and the rest of the staff is bringing him back, just evaluate him come playoff time. Hate to see a guy go off like that if something was to happen, especially someone that has been good for the sport.
If the Eagles, by some miracle, win the Super Bowl this year, Westbrook should just hang ‘em up while he’s ahead of the game and still has his health. He certainly doesn’t need the money.
I would use him more as a receiver. With Maclin being out, he will take coverage away from D-Jack. How in the world are teams going to cover D-Jack, McCoy, Celek, Weaver, Avant, and now Westbrook?? If Donovan can just hit someone in stride for once, look out!!

Haha. My thoughts exactly. Don’t know how he can put the long bombs on the money but miss the short crossing routes.
“Stop” and “drop” come before “roll”.
