Ohio teams get blackout extensions

One NFL team headquartered in Ohio likely will play in the postseason.  The other won’t.

Both are having trouble selling out their Christmas weekend home games.

It doesn’t help that they’re each hosting one of the two teams that typically battle for the bottom of the AFC West.

And so the Browns have received a 48-hour extension of the deadline for selling all non-premium tickets to Sunday’s game against the Raiders, and the Bengals have received a 48-hour extension as well for their game against the Chiefs.

The Bengals are riding a 51-game sellout streak.  They’ll clinch the AFC North crown with a win on Sunday.

Extensions usually are given out in 24-hour increments.  With Friday being Christmas, the league apparently decided to give both teams until Saturday to get the seats sold.

You failed to mention that the Browns haven’t been blacked out since coming back into the league in 1999.
Considering how bad the Browns have been over that stretch, that’s more impressive than the Bengals selling out 51 in a row (which includes sweating out a few blackouts during a playoff run).
But why show Cleveland fans any love, right Florio?

Of course, no mention of the fact that the Browns are riding an 80 some game sellout streak…

I don’t know about the Browns but the Bengals have not been able to sell out their games all year. Krogers and Ochocinco bought out the games and Krogers gives the tickets away. That does not count as sellouts in my opinion.

You can’t blame the Browns fans much.

How about the Los Angeles Browns and Bengals!
Two teams in L.A. that could play to empty stadiums!

    Go Chiefs!

Once again: Mike Brown has the sweetest stadium deal in history. The Bengals will be in Cincy for decades to come.

Way to go Ohio fans. Knock Philly fans all you want. The scumbags from yesterday know who I’m talking about. Shame on your towns. What a bunch of fair-weather losers you are.
Here’s a little video proof of the fans of both teams acting like the neanderthals thatthe Philly fans supposedly are:
    Browns fans:

Bengals fans are likely saving their $$ for a home playoff game.

@CountSack – Whats the big deal? A Bengal fan drank too much? Don’t you ever get out of the house?

The Browns have legitimately sold out every game since 1999 until the tail end of this season. And we suck. The Bengals have been granted an extension to be bought out by Mike Brown and players every week since week 4. And Philly boy, if you guys sucked for 12 straight years you wouldn’t have a fan in the seats, let alone sellouts every week.

The biggest difference is that the Cincinnati stadium will be full and the Cleveland stadium will be lucky to be half full. The Browns did not even fill the stadium for their Monday night game.
When the Bengals played in Cleveland last December and shut the Browns out, the stadium was not 1/3 full. The next week in Cincy against the KC, when the Bengals were 3-11-1, the stadium was full. The Browns fans are not loyal – they have proven that. The may be stupid enough to buy the tickets, but the do not show up when their team is down, unlike Cincinnati last year.

alright im a browns fan and i gotta say our sellout streak is a tad tarnished since the browns and WKYC and bud light and numerous other companies had to buy remaining tix to a couple games this year, but still WOOF WOOF WOOF WOOF WOOF GO BROWNS

My lord you people have short memories – 18 years of losing doesn’t get wiped out with one good season.
The team’s winning. Fine. Doesn’t mean the fans have to come back after being mistreated for two decades. How gullible are you people?
Cincinnati is one of the smallest markets in the NFL. OF COURSE the Eagles will have an easier time selling out games – it’s a TON bigger than Cincinnati.
We paid for the stadium. THE ENTIRE THING. Mike Brown STILL refuses to add a GM. He refuses to add scouts. He refuses to add a cover to the practice field.
We’re in a recession. We’re in a city and state losing (and has already lost) a significant amount of jobs. And yes, we’re the bad guys for not selling out a stadium for a 9-5 time.
    Riiiiiiiiiight.
People here have every right to still stay away and root at home. Has nothing to do with whether we’re good fans or not. We love the team. We just have no interest in giving any love to a man that has tortured us for two decades.

    @Count Sacula
So hard working blue collar fans decided to throw bottles at the refs who blatantly went against the rules of the NFL and cost us a playoff spot. To reverse a challenge TWO PLAYS LATER… I was there and would do it all over again. Philly fans boo your own teams on a consistent basis and you attacked Santa… Please spare me the excuse and debate on how Philly fans aren’t the worst and scummiest of all sports. Hey why don’t you go put some batteries in snowballs and then throw them at your own players.
For a losing poverty stricken city to sellout every game since our return in 99 is quite an accomplishment and shows what kind of fans we have.

It wouldnt be a day without people dogging the Browns. All you Bungles fans are fairweather tools. YOu wish you had what Cleveland has. When any fans of anyother team can show me a world wide backers orginzation like the Browns I might start listening to you but until then keep trying to be as loyal as us Browns fans
