I was curious about this alleged report since Lovie hasn’t been fired. $11 million to pay off Lovie and$20 million or so for Shanahan? The money doesn’t add up for cheapskates like the Bears.
Shanahan is simply trying to bring the $$ up for the Washington contract. Come to think of it, Jim Zorn hasn’t been fired yet, either.

Someone referred to Cutler as a “franchise QB”. I don’t see how you can call him that at this point. He has demonstrated nothing but arm strength to this point.

I still don’t understand, how after nothing but failure in the NFL, people still think of douchebag Jay Cutler as a “franchise quarterback” who should be catered to. What has he won?? The interception crown???

Shanahan would be a good fit BUT i think Lovie needs one more year to prove himself. He had his offense set up with orton and a running game. Then at the last minute he got hold of a real QB but didn’t have time to change his overall scheme. Give him the off season to reconstruct his offense around Cutler. Then if he can’t get didley done, punt him. No one should be judged on a game when the players are changed in mid-stride esp when the qb and the coach are from two different offensive systems.

What BS. Shamahan had a strong GM in Denver, but he kicked him out because that GM had his own ideas. Ultimately replaced him with Ted Dumbquist, the epitome of the sycophantic yes-man.
Look for more futility if he winds up in Chicago, Bears fans. Shamahan still believes he won those Super Bowls, not the all-star talent his rosters were stocked with (the majority of which he had nothing to do with bringing in). How’d his “final say” work out once those stars got older and retired?

You can’t blame Jay Cutlers bad playing on Lovie…he doesn’t throw the ball. 27 INT….he needs better decision making. Cutler will never be a winner……he is not that good of a QB…showed it in Denver.

Of all the Superbowl coaches that are available, I like Cowher. But what about Rivera? If Chicago cleans out the garage and lets him put together a staff. Or Frazier? These guys are ex Bears and big prospects.

Cutler and Shanahan blew a 3 game lead and missed the playoffs in Denver last year. Hire Shanahan and you’re basically saying Cutler is running the team . I’d hire Bill Cowher instead, he made the AFC Championship Game with Kordell Stewart who had no talent. Cutler does have talent.

Lovie has done plenty to instigate his own firing here.
A lot of Bears fans saw enough of him during the 2005 playoff game against Carolina and he has only pissed off the entire fan base since then.
He cannot develop the players that are drafted, he plays too many guys out of position, he refuses to ever make an adjustment and he cannot even figure out how to use his timeouts.
He is also in charge of a defense that is stopping no one and he has no answers for that.
He is way too confused for a guy making $5.5 million a year.
The Bears have already made their investment in Jay Cutler and they have to focus on giving him an O line, a real WR or two and some offensive play calling that does not look like it was drawn up in high school.
They also have to dump the stupid Tampa-2 and that is all Lovie knows.
He is just in the way on both sides of the ball.

Sounds like a great fit. Shanahan likes Cutler but they have more issues than coaching. They need a WR and players that can play. Forte is obviously not going to pan out as a solid RB. Trade their 2nd and 3rd for Dwyane Bowe. With that 1st pick target a stud CB. Trade Forte off while he has some value b/c he’s a flop. Pick up some line help in FA.

Shanahan would be hands down the best thing to happen to the Bears since Ditka.
After the Broncos the Bears are my favorite franchise and I’d love to see this happen.
Shanny brings a LOT to the table with experience and offensive brilliance. Sure things got stale in Denver for him over the years but a change of scenery will do all some good. You see, you build championship teams step by step, and each step takes a certain amount of patience. You’ve got your QB, now make a move with a coach who has two SB rings. Build the defense through the draft and hope to get lucky on a couple of picks.
A little patience (Don’t give up on Cuttler after 1 year) and some right moves and Da Bears are major NFC contenders in no time.
