Wilf not interested in talking about Childress-Favre rift

Before the non-heated heated discussions between Vikings coach Brad Childress and quarterback Brett Favre were declared resolved, Charley Walters of the St. Paul Pioneer Press called owner Zygi Wilf for comment.

The response was simple.  “Don’t bother me, OK?

Hey, we’d rather hear a response like that than the talking-without-saying-anything stuff that so many football types offer up when asked questions they prefer not to answer.

    Ziggy is embarassed.
He knows he screwed up BIG-TIME in extending Chilly’s contract and now it’s blowing up in his face.

Wonder what the next post about this non-story will be – maybe Florio will talk to the Dumptydome groundskeeper.
Just watched “Inside the NFL” on Showtime and listened to Phil Simms talk about how the quarterback should always listen to his head coach. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Ummmmmmm, didn’t Simms and Bill Parcells “go at it” ALL THE TIME on the sidelines ??? I seem to recall several videos of FARRRRR more heated discussions between the two, than what happened Sunday night between Favre and Chilidog.
Simms is as big a hypocrite as Florio is.

  12. JimmySmith says: Dec 24, 2009 6:26 AM

Can you blame the guy? He is just coming to the realization that he has been hoodwinked not once but twice by Childress, a bozo with the IQ of a houseplant.
Going back to when Childress was hired, Ziggy bit on the threat that if he didn’t hire Mr. Noodle on the spot, he was going to get on an airplane and accept another head coaching position. Only problem there was he only had a job interview scheduled, no job offer, so Ziggy would have been smart to wait. He would have been smarter never hiring the guy in the first place.
Then Mr. Noodle convinces Ziggy to extend his contract without even winning a single playoff game, in fact, only qualifying for the playoffs just once and then losing the game (at home no less)
Now Ziggy realizes that his head coach cross dresses for a reason, he’s Favre bitch. I swear, if you made this stuff up, no one would find it even remotely believable.

    I’d be pissed too.
Cal me at a decent hour, at the office, and I’ll tell you I have no comment. Maybe Wilf should call this jackass at 3AM to tell him “Hey, I just want to let you know that I’m not going to talk about Brett Favre”.

  20. Glitch says: Dec 24, 2009 8:05 AM

Give Charley Walters a break. This is the first time he’s ever gotten a direct quote from anyone in the sports business. When’s the last time you saw someone write an article based on “no comment”?

  21. leatherneck says: Dec 24, 2009 8:15 AM

You missed the rest of the story.
It was an EARLY phone call.
Let me spell it out for you: reporters can really, really be jerks. Furthermore, there is no story here.

“Just watched “Inside the NFL” on Showtime and listened to Phil Simms talk about how the quarterback should always listen to his head coach. ”
Phil Simms has been a well known Favre hater for a couple years now. Funny, I would have never pegged him as the jealous type.

  24. Sparrowhawk says: Dec 24, 2009 8:36 AM

Viking fans don’t want these inner conflicts exposed and made into a story, but it already is a story to the rest of the league and a pretty humorous one at that. Who would have imagined that bringing someone like TO or Brett Favre on to your team would have caused conflict? Especially when the HC practically prostitutes himself the first day by leaving a team practice and picking up the new TO at the airport. How could Wilf possibly respond other than admitting that he’d made two major mistakes?

When owners are required to spend x amount of time at the podium then you just might…
Other than that, some “football types” prefer to go the no comment route. While others recognize the benefits of offering fluff to kill their required time on the main stage with idiot reporters asking idiot questions.

As usual Jimmy the idiot, your comments are old and untrue. I’d have thought you’d try to come up with some new material but your cheesehead mentality makes that impossible. What a tool you are.

  27. bluestree says: Dec 24, 2009 8:59 AM

Yeah, Phil Simms is a real hypocrite. He had words with Parcells all the time, and then after the game he’s go to the media and….oh wait, no he didn’t. He stood up to Pacells like a man, then shut his trap. But like Brett said yesterday…”I’m an emotional player.” He just can’t help himself.

So why is Simms a Brett hater Phil has not one but two rings he was MVP and held the record for best passer rating in a SB
While Phil did not play as long as Brett he has done things that Brett never will
Anyone recall PS going after Ronnie Lott after a cheap shot he went right into the niners dressing room
While again brett has played longer PS has nothing to hate about
Phil has a great job with CBS and does not have to get his ass kicked every sunday to earn the check

PFT Headline: Wilf not interested in talking about Childress-Favre rift.
Let’s see- both sides of the “rift” and settled and say it’s no big deal. Disputes are a common part of the NFL. But then again you have PFT which has a “rift”-style story more than daily.
Hmm, which side to believe- an 11-3 three team that has clinched it division and his headed for the playoffs or the site which is a parasite to of the NFL, run by guy who is trying to make a name for his site and is known to make huge deals out of nothing.
    Hmmm, so hard to decide.

Untrue? Are you sure that is even a word?
Maybe that is just a reflection of your MN public school system. Which part is “untrue”?
Certainly, not losing a playoff game or Childress being Brent’s bitch, the only part that cannot be proven is that Chilly wore that dress just to get Brent excited.
