Bears fans get in on the billboard act, too

Several weeks ago, a group of Raiders fans wasted spent some money on a billboard aimed at getting owner Al Davis to hire a General Manager.

Now, someone in Chicago has plunked down three G’s on a billboard aimed at getting the Bears to get rid of the G.M. they have.  And their coach, too.

Per the Associated Press, a group called Bears Fans United has financed the project, and they’re hoping to come up with another $13,000 in order to buy full-page newspaper ads.

It’s an admirable project, but we think they need to raise another $20 million to trigger a full house cleaning, since the McCaskey family would need that much or more to fund the various buyouts.

The more likely outcome, in our view, is that G.M. Jerry Angelo will provide coach Lovie Smith with an up-close look at the undercarriage of the bus, and then Angelo will hire a new coach.

After all, someone has to take the blame for the horrendous performance of quarterback Jay Cutler — and it’s either the guy who thought it made sense to make the trade or the guy who wasn’t able to coach him up, or both.

Bear Fans United is a bunch of mouth breathing losers. They were exposed on 670 The Score earlier in the week. I’m being nice because it’s Christmas Day.

I emailed this to you last week… It is funny though, people saying others are wasting money…. While they are surely wasting their own money on things they enjoy. Our country is free, to speak, to enjoy and to waste money as we see fit. To say that all Bears Fans United are “losers” shows either immaturity or a lack of intelligence.
I’m a Bears fan, yes, I’m not a Lovie Smith fan and I for one am proud that Bears fans got together in action and produced an effort worth media attention…. While others post on websites lame “breathing losers” and the like. This is the difference between the ones that move the world forward and those that complain about how others are moving it forward.

13,000 dollars… no that wouldn’t feed any needy people. let’s spend it on a newspaper ad to try to get some guy who we don’t even know in real life fired.
Over a game played by multi millionaires whom we also don’t really know.

  9. Badbuff says: Dec 25, 2009 1:04 PM

Cutler is the problem….you can change coach’s….you can change GM’s…but as long as you have this loser Cutler as QB, you are doomed to failure….
This guy is a Jeff George clone……10 great plays then at the 3 yard line he’ll make a terrible decision…..
Chicago gave up Orton and 2 #1′s for this joke…..Denver is laughing all the way to the playoffs…

Or a novel idea.. put the blame on Jay Cutler. c’mon man, you have to put effort into tossing 25 int’s.

Jerry Angelo has to throw Lovie under the bus because he see’s the bus himself. He made that dumb ass trade for Cutler. Will someone think back and realize that Cutler wasn’t but sooo much with Shanny coaching him! OH YEAH, WASN’T SHANNY THINKING OF GETTING RID OF CUTLER BEFORE THE BUS RAN OVER HIM!!!!

And the Bears ownership is free to spend it’s money as it see’s fit on whomever they see fit to spend it on. regardless of a retarded bill board.See how that works?
And I would hazard to say that if these fans were as good at their own jobs as the guys they are trying to get fired, raising 13,000 dollars would not be an issue.
Imagine if Angelo took out a billboard every time one of these guys missed a spot on the floor with their mop.

  13. downwithdansnyder says: Dec 25, 2009 1:23 PM

Umm…how about Jay Cutler taking the fall. Put his a$$ on the bench and maybe shake him up a little bit. Anyone behind him surely deserves the chance to get some playing time at this point.
I haven’t heard ANYONE bring up the fact that maybe Cutler’s diabetes(sp?) could be impacting him??? Not an excuse, but it could be.

  14. marshall70 says: Dec 25, 2009 1:31 PM

Chi Chi Land is a tough guy land. Cutler and Lovie need to stay and work this out in tough guy fashion.

  15. Piro says: Dec 25, 2009 1:48 PM

Really, we’re blaming Cutler’s diabetes now? Has he missed a practice, game or even PART of a practice or game because of it?
Blame Turner, whose offense has never been any good regardless of who is under center. Blame Smith, who’s still living off one trip to the Super Bowl and doesn’t even look vaguely interested on the sidelines. Blame Angelo for extending the contracts of the two previously mentioned parties, for drafting like crap and for holding onto veteran players way, way past their prime.
Then, blame Cutler, who still has elite physical skills but is clearly suffering from poor decision making that stems from a lack of confidence at times and too much confidence in his arm at others.
But leave his diabetes out of it, will ya? That’s just a lazy argument.

$3,000 and coming up with another $13,000. I guess peoiple in the mid-west are not that strapped for cash. Great prioritizing going on there. $13,000 could have went to help a bunch of families out on Xmas, instead a bunch of go-no-wheres will do what they can for their team. So much for actually giving a care about anything that actually matters in life. You all deserve to get Mangini on a life long contract without a buyout provision.

    Merry Christmas, People!
In my humble opinion, acquiring Cutler was a mistake, but let’s look at offensive coordinator. If I’m not mistaken it’s Norv Turner. How long has he been there? How many Super-Bowl-magicians has he turned out? Lovie can only work with what he is given; that doesn’t excuse him, however. The Specialists, the Offensive and Defensive Coaches are to take responsibility. Where is the killer notoriety of the “Bears’ Defense”? It used to strike fear in the hearts of quarterbacks around the league. Where is the simple “Jam It Down Your Throat” Offense, that would wear down opposing defenses with time of possession, and ball control? Where is that? Mr. DeAngelo, enough with the infantile prima-donnas. Get us a FOOTBALL team, or find someone who will!

It is the GM’s and Lovie’s responsibility to pick Great Players for the Bears. It is their responsiblity to then, place these athletes in positions that help the Bears to win Championships! They have failed miserably! We had a return man that scared opposing teams to death…they made him a receiver. I do not even want to discuss the QB situation…my point is…if you do not win…YOU ARE OUT OF HERE!
    3 years is ENOUGH!

  26. Endy9 says: Dec 25, 2009 3:41 PM

Lovie and Angelo should be fired for running Ron Rivera out of town, more than for bringing Cutler here. That’s where the Bear’s big, bad defense went. To San Diego.

  27. Joseph Blough says: Dec 25, 2009 3:57 PM

How about dumping Ron Turner, a dork of the highest order as one of the worst offensive coordinators in the NFL. Then kick Smith and Angelo out the door after him.
Yeah, you have to blame some of this on Cutler, but the team was out-coached and out-played this season – a huge understatement. Many of my co-workers live out in Denver, and like us “mouth breathing losers” here in Chicago, they couldn’t wait to rid themselves of their QB. To us, Orton was an uneven commodity, not worthy of a starting position. Yet my Denver cohorts were happy to see “cry baby” Cutler leave as well.
Who knew. Perhaps it says a lot about a change of scenery. Heck, we’re cursed here in Chicago! :P

  28. tpm58 says: Dec 25, 2009 3:59 PM

Well, Cutler does have 25 picks. The Bears have 9 losses and counting. If my math is correct, Peyton Manning has 15 picks and his Colts have no losses. And also, doesn’t Manning have a real offensive line and real wide receivers? And maybe the Colts have a defense that can actually stop the opponent a time or two during the game. My point being, give Cutler a better line and a defense and maybe he would have less picks and less losses. He has been running for his life all season. And Denver sports writers are starting to long for Cutler’s ability to win a game or two for you since Orton is only a game manager. All of the Bronco’s wins are because of Denver’s defense and Brandon Marshall’s ability to get more out of a play than most receiver’s should. And definitely more than any of Cutler’s receivers can get out of a play. Blame Angelo for no depth and a lack of talent on this team. Enough of the Cutler bashing until he is given some tools!

  39. David5372 says: Dec 25, 2009 7:43 PM

    Thanks for the correction, Alewatcher!
Turner, given the talent (and he DOES have some in the Offense, somewhere!) has the unique capacity to shove victories into the Jaws of Defeat mor often than average, don’t you think? Cutler aside; ineptitude aside; Smith and DeAngelo aside — who is running this team? The string-puller is McCaskey, I don’t care what the stories tell you. He counts on the loyalties of these frustrated fans, to fill his pockets. Please correct me if I am mistaken (it’s happened once already TODAY!), but aren’t there bonus clauses in Pro contracts, and performance bonuses as well?
If that is true, then it’s all about the money, and we here in Chicago are gullible enough to over-look that minor detail. We are wishing for a foorball team like the championship team of the ’80′s —it will not happen again. No matter who’s running the team, no matter the talent; if the owner doesn’t want a winner, that are you gonna do? By buying tickets and paraphernalia, you are underscoring the McCaskey logic; “Con them, raise false hopes, Fleece them!”

Ditka said it best…”you’ll never win a derby with donkeys.” Unfortunately that’s what the Bears are stocked with now and no amount of coaching can change that and I don’t much care who the coach or the GM is! We’ve got a roster of donkeys.
