Rams have no plans to trade Steven Jackson

On this Christmas morning, we have a message that should warm the hearts of the remaining Rams fans that still care about pro football: The team is not dealing Steven Jackson this offseason.

“It’s something that’s never even crossed my mind,” Rams G.M. Bill Devaney said recently. “It’s something that I couldn’t imagine. We’re trying
to bring good players into the building. Why would we want (to trade)
our best guy — one of the best players in the NFL regardless of position?”

That’s a great question, and one we think every time fans suggest trade scenarios that deal away quality talent.  The Rams need to bring in more Steven Jacksons, not get rid of him.

Jackson has battled a back injury for the last month and rarely practices, but continues to suit up on Sundays.

He’s second in the league in rushing yards to Chris Johnson and third in yards from scrimmage behind Johnson and Ray Rice.  Posting those numbers on a one-win team is rather impressive.

Just like feeding your PFT addiction on Christmas morning.  Merry Christmas everyone.

That sucks for him. He deserves better.

Mmmh, I think Florio might have been tempted to quote a trade that brought a RB from a very bad team to a SB contender, and in the end made the very bad team win three Lombardi’s and the fairly good team still looking for one, with a guy who cannot decide whether he wants to quit or not.

    ______
    Thank you. hehe.
Be interesting to see how active they are in the off season. Watch them play and they are a good QB short from a few more wins, few more players short of a .500 team. Take Jackson away and it hurts them bad.
Quite a few pieces away from a playoff team but they play a lot of teams close until they make a mistake that screws them.
Aside from the Colts there is not many contenders that need a running back bad, maybe Chargers but LT still looks sharp. Not likely he can be asked to be traded to a contender so he could win the big game.

They need to bring in another Jackson at QB and they’re Super Bowl bound next season.

Well thats def a smart move/thinking for once and trying to keep your best players But he better get amove one because they have alot of work to do and Jackson isnt gettin any younger! Sooner or later he is going to want out

Sucks for SJax. Sounds like he’ll waste his career on a sub .500 team.

They’d be better off selling high this offseason. They need as many picks and vets as they can get.
Jackson is a great runner, but teams have shown you can pretty much insert anyone in there and continue trucking.

    You too Gregg.
Tell Florio Merry X-mas and to not get Jr. Florio that Red Rider BB gun for x-mas.

With a good QB and Raheem Morris as their head coach they are Super Bowl bound.

time for a herschel walker trade

Trading him would make them better, overall, quicker. They aren’t winning with him, so losing him wouldn’t exactly be catastrophic.
He’s been good about not bitching, but you know he wants to play for a winner. I imagine there’s a few teams who’d ante up to acquire him.

By the time this Rams team can turn it around, he will be on his last legs. I would definitely trade him while his value is at its peak. It will help them rebuild a lot faster.

O.J. Simpson only played in one playoff game his whole career. And lost to the Steelers.
    It happens.

I’m in the trade him camp, assuming they can get enough for him (not a certainty the was backs have been devalued of late).
The team needs a lot more help than one player, even one as spectacular as Jackson, can provide. Maybe they can trade him to the Texans and finally get Andre Johnson some help. That’s another guy wasting away in the wilderness.

I can see the Seahawks ponying up for Jackson, but they won’t (and shouldn’t) trade him. He puts butts in the seats, and I think that’s more important to Rosenbloom than putting together a competitive franchise.
