Broken arm for Carolina's Steve Smith

When last we heard from Panthers receiver Steve Smith, he was explaining that Steve Smith isn’t his real name.

He’ll now be able to sign his real name on the cast on his left arm.

Smith suffered a broken radius during Sunday’s 41-9 win over the Giants.  Per the Associated Press, the injury apparently occurred while catching a 26-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter.

Smith will have surgery on Monday.

The development is good news for the Saints, who need to beat the Panthers on Sunday to lock up the top seed in the NFC playoff field.  And it’s also bad news for the Vikings, a team that Smith has bedeviled since launching his career in 2001 by returning a kickoff for a touchdown in the only game the Panthers won the entire season.  Minnesota needs to win their next two and root for the Saints to lose in order to swipe the top seed.

Except unless the Vikings lose on Monday. Then the Saints don’t have to win next week…..

Are you kidding me ? Are you kidding me ? As if home field will matter to the Saints. The Saints will loose their first home playoff game. One and done. Trust me the Saints are the most over rated team in the NFL. Second time in league history a 2-12 team beat a 13-1 team. Come on you loose to the Buc’s. The Saints are a Joke! One Big Joke! The Saints are last years Tennessee Titans…… Only thing you will be able to say about the 2009 Saints is they had a good season. They are not a SuperBowl team.

Noooooooooooo…. It was all shaping up so nicely. But then again had we beaten them last week today would’ve been enough.
    Go Vikes!

How’s that Karma taste “LIL YOUNGSTER”?
Keep your mouth shut Steve Smith, especially when your team is eliminated from the playoffs. You should been doing all that talking when your team was getting worked all season long.
    Sincerely,
    Benny Sapp

It appears neither the Vikings nor the Saints are going to be advancing to the Big Dance.
Isn’t it ironic how the playoffs as of late are 180 degrees from how everything unfolded 20 years ago? Top seeds were a guarantee. Now, being the top seed is almost a curse.

lol at the vikings.. I just love thinking of that ass whipping.
good game today panthers, smitty is a man on a mission.. I just wish delhomme would have broken his finger in the first half of the year.

Vikes Swept packers, if Packers Vikes meet again… the only thing different will be the amount of points the Vikings will win by.
The Packers cannot and will not beat the Vikings… no chance in hell that happens.

  16. MNFANINAZ says: Dec 27, 2009 6:22 PM

Vikes are undefeated at home and undefeated against the packers this season… oh and undefeated against the Packers in the playoffs.

im willing to say as a panther fan that the panthers are probably the 2nd best team in the NFC right now, shame they are eliminated from contention already, they would scare a lot of teams in the playoffs

anyone that counts ONE victory over the Packers in the playoffs as undefeated is a clown.. but im not suprised seeing you’re a Vikings fan..

Is there such a thing as home field advantage for the saints? Where were there last two games played? No matter what happens, no matter where the game is played the Saints will have a better away record than home record.
