Osi Umenyiora thinks he could be done as a Giant

New York Giants defensive end Osi Umenyiora was so upset after today’s loss to the Carolina Panthers that he told reporters, “I’m about to say something that would get me really messed up, so I’m just going to leave now.”

But before he said that, he suggested that he might be done with the Giants.

“It’s an unbelievable situation, man,” Umenyiora said. “Last game at Giants Stadium, probably as a Giant, just the way everything has unfolded has been unbelievable.”

It’s not clear what Umenyiora meant by “probably as a Giant.” He still has one more game this season, and his contract runs through 2012. But maybe he thinks the Giants are going to trade him or release him after the season.

And Umenyiora suggested that he wouldn’t mind a change of scenery, if it gets him more playing time.

“What did I play, five snaps today?” Umenyiora said. “I don’t know, I don’t know what happened. I thought I was the problem.”

Umenyiora described himself as “disappointed, disheartened, discouraged.” That’s how a lot of Giants fans are feeling right now.

Hey Osi, the grass is greener at Lincoln Financial Field. A defensive line of Trent Cole-Brodrick Bunkley-Mike Patterson-Osi Umenyiora would be absolutely amazing, especially considering he’s played in Jim Johnson’s defensive system under Steve Spagnuolo that Sean McDermott runs. Hey Eagles, make it happen.

He’s still living off that 6 sack game against the Eagles. That made him a Pro Bowler and since then he’s been average.

    Osi Human Urine

This guy owes half his gamechecks to Winston Justice as it is.

  10. kilo31actual says: Dec 27, 2009 9:37 PM

Osi is like Simeon Rice, he’s only good during passing situations. He’s useless when it comes to stopping the run

We might find room on the Vikings for you, big U.

Traded to the Chargers for a second round draft pick!
Or so I wish, we could use a guy like this not that we need much of anything, but it wouldn’t hurt

    Hmm, I could go for a Haynesworth-Umenyioria swap…

  16. mnmaverick says: Dec 27, 2009 9:50 PM

I agree, the Vikings would love to have another dominant end opposite Jared Allen.

im wondering how Osi would do as a 3-4 outside backer……i think he would absolutely kill as an outside backer in the ravens/steelers schemes. i would hate seeing him on the vikings…..a-rod spends enough time on his ass against the vikings the way it is.

Get rid of the OC leave the players alone
They can do the job stop with all this highend D and play what we play smash mouth football

  20. PolegoJim says: Dec 27, 2009 11:33 PM

Osi is learning that he fed off Strahan MUCH more than he thought.
Giants D owe Strahan some game checks for the sorry effort they’ve put out.

  21. dlmcc0909 says: Dec 27, 2009 11:56 PM

its the defensive scheme that kills the Giants. new defensive coordinator this year has led to disaster. Osi is best at rushing the passer and playing the run. I have seen him dropping back into coverage this year. Why? I still dont know. But he definitely isnt the problem thats for sure

  22. Bob S. says: Dec 28, 2009 12:07 AM

    coughlin must be fired!
this started when he walked out on sheridan at start of season giants defense PURPOSELY since have forgot how to cover and to tackle
    fire the old man

  23. troll_aikman8 says: Dec 28, 2009 12:16 AM

Maybe he needs something more potent than 5-hr energy. Do they have a 16-week energy drink?

  24. jkorn1818 says: Dec 28, 2009 12:17 AM

dlmc0909 dont forget boley playing S and having canty at 6″7 over 300 playing LB and going in coverage when sheridan makes that switch. They had it out since preseason and him playing a few snaps today was sheridan saying eff you. I hope they nip this in the bud, fire him so Osi doesnt go or become an even greater cancer. Hire dick jaroun, or bring back romeo to be a D coordinator, theyll be able to do something. I cant think of a team with a worse defense to be honest, they never make stops. tuck was saying all week how this feels like 07, they played well against wash and people were thinking this d was back, it never was. kawika mitchell is gone, gibril wilson who was solid is gone, madison who turned it up and was a leader is retired, pierce 3 seasons ago was a lot better and a huge leader and most of all strahan is gone, tuck and osi can have a blast out there when strahan was being double teamed. sheridan is completely clueless, but coughlin is usually loyal to his coordinators (tim lewis)

  25. fusionhead says: Dec 28, 2009 1:03 AM

    Fire Bill Sheridan. sign it

  26. Adam says: Dec 28, 2009 1:41 AM

cool thanks for the petition…Osi needs another year to recover. Damnit, make him or Kiwi a linebacker. They both move well enough. Alternate them at DE. Get a new DT. New Safety. Get Ross and Webster healed. FIRE Sheridan.
btw, Giants fans know our team sucks right now.

  27. Route36West says: Dec 28, 2009 2:04 AM

Sheridan is just an idiot he doesnt know how to use the talent on his team. Philly makes average ends(Trent Cole not included) look good.
Send him to Philly he’ll put up 16 sacks a season in this system. Exactly like the other guy said he has already played in Jim Johnson’s scheme and thrived in it he would do the same in Philly.

  28. Treima says: Dec 28, 2009 2:47 AM

If he can learn the 3-4 I reckon he could be a star for the Patriots. He seems like the kind of player they’d go for.

  29. Weeb1 says: Dec 28, 2009 5:55 AM

It’s time both NY teams loose their problems. Trade Osi to the Jets for Kerry Rhodes and a pick.

  30. DonTerrelli says: Dec 28, 2009 7:02 AM

Start doing some more 5-Hour Energy commercials, Osi

  31. Branephood says: Dec 28, 2009 7:54 AM

Osi you suck. You’re not even good enough to start on a team that got it’s ass kicked by the Pussnthers, lol…Overrated chump

  32. Nobe says: Dec 28, 2009 8:20 AM

Osi was on the list. He’ll soon be a Raider.

  33. Percy Nugz says: Dec 28, 2009 9:05 AM

Hey Osi, ask Justin Tuck if you can be in his next Subway commerical.

  34. GiantsDefenseRules says: Dec 28, 2009 11:52 AM

    @ Bigbluefan
“Get rid of the OC leave the players alone
They can do the job stop with all this highend D and play what we play smash mouth football”
Can we get rid of Sheridan too! Maybe a new Dc can use the players we have instead of taking an amazing defense and DESTROYING it.
Bill Sheridan should be NY Public Enemy #1!!!!

  35. Woody Paige says: Dec 28, 2009 3:58 PM

Bullshit Osi as soon as he got replaced by Kiwanuka he gave up on the Giants like a baby. Every game they would pan to him on the bench pouting.

  36. Chris says: Dec 28, 2009 9:01 PM

Osi, your always welcomed to St. Louis! Reunite with Spagnuolo, it is for your own good!

  37. DonRSD says: Dec 28, 2009 10:35 PM

    fire bill sheridan
this guy ran the defense into the ground
