Saints call up a cornerback

As the Saints prepare to try to lock down the top seed in the NFC playoff field, they’ve added another body to a depleted secondary.

The team announced that cornerback Greg Fassitt has been signed to the active roster from the practice squad.

To create a spot for Fassitt, the Saints have waived tight end Tory Humphrey, who had signed with the Saints earlier in the week.

The move suggests that tight end Jeremy Shockey, who is questionable with a toe injury, will be able to play. If also suggests that cornerbacks Randall Gay (concussion) and Jabari Greer (groin) likely won’t be able to go.

UPDATE: And, of course, Shockey is inactive.
