With Maynard questionable, Bears sign a punter

Chicago Bears punter Brad Maynard is questionable for tonight’s game with a groin injury. In case Maynard can’t go, the Bears signed a punter today.

The Bears announced today that they’ve signed punter Richmond McGee. He’ll play tonight if Maynard’s groin tightens up in the cold Chicago air during pregame warm-ups.

McGee played for the Bears during the 2009 preseason before being released. He punted and handled kickoffs in college at Texas.

To make room on the roster for McGee, the Bears placed defensive end Adewale Ogunleye on injured reserve. Ogunleye suffered a small fracture in his fibula last week.

Ahhh, a Punter story. It’s been a few weeks. I was starting to get worried.

I’m not counting on it, but if the Bears win it can really redeem my football weekend.
Laid an egg in fantasy, and got knocked out of my suicide pool because the Saints decided to lose to a 2 win team! Awesome.
And yeah, I know this has nothing to do with the article, but give me a break, it’s about a punter.

Is Shane Lechler still on pace to break that record?
