Diehl, Smith also make it to Pro Bowl

Joining center Shaun O’Hara at the Pro Bowl will be two of his Giants teammates.

Per a league source, left tackle David Diehl and receiver Steve Smith have been named as alternates to the 2009 Pro Bowl.

The official release of the teams is coming at 7:00 p.m. ET on NFL Network.

UPDATE: Chris Snee, like Diehl and Smith, is a first alternate. So all three will need an injury in front of them to make the official team.

Alternates don’t count, there are too many alternates for it to mean anything in my view. Starters and reserves are what count.

Must have been a terrible year for NFC left tackles…Diehl was the worst of the Giants underachieving O-Line.
