Cute. When things go good it is all because of Favre. When things go bad it is all because of Chilly. Dilfer is a genius.
I think I can apply this logic to make any player or coach in the NFL to look bad.
Seriously, this is just stupid. The Vikings were dominating most of the season and just about every home game using Chilly’s terrible play calling. They have a few bad games and now it is because Chilly isn’t letting Favre do the plays he likes?
What a joke. Favre’s ego doesn’t need any more massaging. Bottom line is the Vikes suck in grass games compared to turf games for whatever reason. Their line play, offensively and defensively, was atrocious in the 3 recent road losses. Brett and Chilly don’t control that.

Favre’s Int % of 3.2 is right in line with other HOF QB’s of recent vintage. Elway – 3.1, Marino – 3.0, Aikman – 3.0 & Moon – 3.4. A couple of other successful seasoned veterans like Manning – 2.8 & Warner – 3.1 are in the same ballpark. He has more interceptions because he’s thrown the ball more, that’s one of the reasons why he has more TDs than anyone as well.
The reason the Vikings brought Favre in is because he gave the team the best chance to win. His experience, not the least of which, being a key to his value. Now Childress is upset he’s using it?
I have to agree with bluestree, now I doubt Favre will be back in 2010, where I thought he might be if he got thru the year healthy.
By the way all you GB fans claiming you’ll have Rodgers for the next decade – this is the NFL, you can’t count on longevity because injuries have a way of changing the scenery. You know, like your claims that Peterson’s career will be cut short.

When Chilly picked up Farve at the airportm he gave him the keys to the franchise. Now he has his extension and he wants them back. I don’t think Farve will be back next year.

Chilly isn’t even qualified to be a head coach. While Favre is a three-time MVP, 11-Time Pro Bowler, and has a Super Bowl ring.

I don’t get how you Viking fans sit here and say that Dilfer isn’t entitled to his opinion on Favre because of his lack of credentials (in your own opinion).
Sidenote: Let me know when having a Super Bowl ring is considered a lack of credentials. That ring says ‘Baltimore Ravens’, not ‘Ray Lewis, Sam Adams, Michael McCrary, Tony Siragusa, Rob Burnett, Adalius Thomas, and Rod Woodson’.
If that were the case, the Giants’ rings should just say, ‘Eli Manning, Brandon Jacobs, Jerry Reese’s entire draft class, Osi Umenyiora, Michael Strahan, Justin Tuck, Plaxico Burress, and David Tyree’.
Having said that, I sit here all the time and rip the shit out of whatever player I feel like hating on for that few minutes, and I’ve never taken a snap in the NFL. So how does that make us different than Dilfer?

I said this weeks ago when the whole “heated discussion” occurred on the sidelines. Just give Favre free reign like they do for Peyton Manning. Forget the traditional organizational chart and work together as a team to come up with the best strategy, then point Favre in the right direction and let him go.

A Pop Warner coach might be better at calling plays than Kol Klink so that can hardly be the standard.

He doesn’t read defenses, he simply looks for an open guy and fires it. He is playing sandlot football in the NFL.
This style of play will eventually bring about a pick that gets you beat when playing against disciplined defenses in the playoffs. Brett’s record speaks for itself.
Bradshaw, Montana, Aikman, Brady, all were on great teams,but they also worked within the framework of what the coaching staff was trying to implement.
This is a team game, and when one guy thinks he is bigger than the team, it won’t end happily for the fans.

Yes, by necessity the guys who attempted the most passes and had the most passing TDs generally speaking also had the most passes intercepted.
However, only half of the top 10 QBs on the list of career passing TDs are also in the top 10 on the list of career INTs.
They are:
Favre – 1st TDs, 1st INTs
Marino – 2nd TDs, 8th INTs
Tarkenton – 4th TDs, 5th INTs
Unitas – 7th on both lists
Testaverde – 8th TDs, 4th INTs
The others on the top 10 career passing TD list are Manning, Elway, Moon, Montana and Krieg.
Manning and Montana put up pretty amazing career TD/INT ratios: both near 2:1. Phillip Rivers is-at this point-on pace to beat both of them in that regard (2.33 TD/INT). As is Drew Brees (2.35 TDs/INT). And Aaron Rodgers is on a ridiculous pace of 2.76 TDs/INT. But this is only Rodgers’ second season as a starter and it’s way too early to draw anything from that.

“there are only 3 situations in the nfl where you should run the ball. short yardage, red zone, and running out the clock.”

It’s because the Vikings are “all-in”, meaning….do whatever it takes to win ASAP and make us all look good and let us keep our jobs. It’s now or never. Next year and longterm don’t mean anything to us. We are desperate.
That was the message. And now they don’t undertstand why Brett wants the reins?
Now or never. Brett did not like the fact that he couldn’t call his own shots in GB (player personnel decisions, play calling, training camp attendence, etc.), so he orchestrated his way out. He found a team that was desperate enough to let him do “his thing.” So let him do it….and let him demonstrate firsthand why the Packers (Ted) did the right thing in keeping Aaron over Brett (Ted) and have put the future of the team (Ted) in the best position of any other team in the North Division (Ted.)
