Colts player popped for DUI

If the first day of 2010 provides any indication as to the overall quality of the New Year for the Indianapolis Colts, it could be a long one.

Per 6 News in Indianapolis, Colts receiver Tajiddin Smith was arrested Friday for drunk driving.

The police report, according to 6 News, indicates that Smith was pulled over after an officer noticed him “swerving and crossing the center line.”  Police also said that Smith “had to pull himself from his car,” and that Smith smelled of alcohol.  He then failed a field sobriety test, and his blood-alcohol content was determined to be in excess of the legal limit.

The 26-year-old Smith, who played college football at Syracuse, has spent the season on the Colts’ practice squad after being cut following the preseason.  Though 6 News says that Smith  “played for a short time” on Sunday against the Jets, the official Game Book does not show that he was on the roster, or that he played.

You can count on the Colts cutting him as soon as possible. They don’t keep law breakers around long.

Why couldn’t have Pusrtis Painter have robbed a bank last week then.

He had to get drunk so he could forget about his coach and GM’s decision to flush away any chance of a perfect season.

Any idea what this means–to pull yourself from your car? That’s a stumper.

Whom? Yeah, somehow I think the Colts will be able to dig deep, and put this “distraction” past them.

I actually heard that Reggie Wayne was the one drinking but Polian pulled him halfway through happy hour and put Tajiddin in to drink for the rest of the night. He didn’t want Reggie to sprain an elbow or something.

I’ll never understand why overpaid professional athletes can’t pay someone to drive them on the nights when they go out and get hammertime. At least Lance Briggs had enough sense to leave his crashed Lambo and avoid the DEWEY.

He was probably upset, that the other WR on PS has been activated.

  23. Dinozzo says: Jan 2, 2010 7:08 AM

Actually, Reggie Wayne was driving but Caldwell took out him out during the ride and let Tajiddin Smith drive….

Should’ve kept Peyton in the game against the Jets. This poor dumb bastard got drunk, and couldn’t spell his name to police. Failed sobriety test…

In the words of former Colts GM Bill Tobin…”Who the hell is Tajiddin Smith???”
