After vowing to change name back if shut down, Ochocinco hurts leg in warmups

Bengals receiver Chad Ochocinco is confident that he’ll not be shut down by Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis on Sunday night.

Ochocinco told Bob Costas of Football Night in America that, if Revis succeeds, Chad will change his name back to what it was before it was Ochocinco.

Actually, it wouldn’t be so simple.  For the same reason that Chad wasn’t able to immediately plaster “Ochocinco” on the back of his jersey after legally changing his name in 2008, Chad will face friction from the folks at Reebok if he tried to bring back “Johnson.”  You see, the folks at Reebok have a sizable inventory of jerseys for sale with “Ochocinco” on the name plate, and if Johnson decides to switch back, he might have to write a check for the value of the unsold shirts.

Of course, it all might be moot.  Johnson injured a leg during pregame warmups, and he was hobbling on the field.  His availability for the game suddenly is in doubt.

UPDATE:  Andrea Kremer of NBC reports that Ochocinco is fine.

He can do whatever he wants after next weekend, when his team is eliminated. Chad Johnson is a clown… nothing more. He will never win a Championship.
It was nice to see him humbled by Chris Henry’s death… oh that’s right, he wasn’t. He is a glory and pub hound.
I hope Revis punches him in his face.

Why would anyone ever take the Bengals and their idiot mascot seriously?
They suck, he sucks, etc, etc, etc.
    Game over. J-E-T-S…

Haha, Chad you are one hell of a guy. At times you are just too funny. Good luck, show that clown that no one can cover Ochocinco.

Unfortunately for Chad, he isn’t the man with the ball in his hand in most plays. Anyone know what Chad constitutes being “shut down”? 5 catches? 10 catches? 100 yards? A touchdown?
With Palmer not being more than an above average quarterback this season, Cincinnati being a run first offense now and with the Bengals playing for nothing more than playoff positioning, Chad is gonna have some difficulties tonight.

Chad, we don’t care what your name says, your record and history says it all… LOSER.
Why any media outlet gives this guy 5 seconds of air time is beyond me.

Sounds like he regrets the poo poo out of changing his name in the first place…If he is looking for a reason to change it back, that makes it pretty obvious. Regardless of the outcome next week, his name will be Johnson again next season.

He injured his leg like such a dumbass too. I was at the game an hour and a half early, to see my Bengals, and he literally just fell over when he started jogging for a pass in warm-ups. Maybe there was a weird spot on the turf, cuz someone else fell there too, but he looked like he had two left feet, it was pathetic.

Welcome back to earth Mr. JOHNSON.
We’ve all been waiting here for you’re imminent return to the place you most certainly belong.
