Cowboys cruising early

With the Vikings trouncing the Giants, the race for the No. 2 seed in the NFC comes down to two teams:  Minnesota and Philadelphia.

Late in the second quarter of Sunday’s game between the Eagles and the Cowboys in Dallas, the Cowboys have jumped out to a 14-0 lead.

It could be worse; another Dallas drive deep in Philly’s end of the field ended with a batted ball that was intercepted by Joselio Hanson.

But the gaffes have balanced out; with the Eagles threatening, quarterback Donovan McNabb fumbled a shotgun snap, and the Cowboys have recovered.

If Dallas wins, they’ll host a playoff game next weekend.

And it could be the Eagles who return for a second act.

    Go Cowboys!

  2. Route36West says: Jan 3, 2010 5:27 PM

It has less to do with the Cowboys then it does with Asante Samuels.
It goes to show this league is a popularity and stat driven league. Just b/c he has 10 interception people thinks hes good.
For every interception he gets he lets up 2 tds. He jumps every route and lets the man hes covering run 50 yards down field. He is a laibility and a horrible defender and tackler.

So what the Eagles decide to spot the Cowboys 17 points before they start playing like they did through the 1st 16 games of the season?
The Eagles might have blitzed the Cowboys 4 times in the first half and let them walk up and down the field. So in the 2nd half they start blitzing like usual and now the cowboys have punted on 2 consecutive drives.
I dont understand what goes through the head of the Eagles coaches in games like this. Do they think their so smart that they can change the whole teams game plan in 1 week and have success?

Impossible seeming they both play again in the first round of the playoffs. But, you wouldn’t know anything about the playoff scheduling this season being as you’re a Giants fan…..

  18. Streetsmart says: Jan 3, 2010 6:30 PM

Hey Florio does this qualify as a BIG GAME win for Romo?
Does beating the hottest team in the NFL in the Eagles who won 6 games in a row constitue as a BIG GAME?
Does holding the Chargers and Saints to their lowest scoring outputs of the season coming in to today count for anything? And had they hit their FGs in that game or scored on one of those 4 attempts at the goal line count they would have beaten the Chargers as well.
Did beating the undefeated Saints and exposing them to the rest of the NFL count as a big game?
    4500 passing yards 3-1 TD/INT ratio a 97 QB Rating
NFC EAST CHAMPIONS 2 out of the last 3 seasons
Romo is an elite QB and the Cowboys and the Packers are the scariest teams in the NFC right now and although you might despise it even you have to admit it.
But im sure you will make a post about winning a playoff game yadda yadda yadda just to take a back handed swipe at the Boys and Romo

Apparently the Eagle Starters forgot to tell the coaches that they were going to sit this game out and get ready for next week.

  23. Vikes-N-Favre says: Jan 3, 2010 6:48 PM

Its looking more and more likely that the Vikings will be the #2 seed and get a 1st rd bye next week. The Vikings have been on fire the last 6 quarters of football and have scored over 70 points in that time.
It will be tough for any team to beat the Vikes in Minnesota with the way they have played there on their way to 8-0 at home. Good luck to all teams in the playoffs, this year should be filled with some good playoff games.

  24. Bones22 says: Jan 3, 2010 6:48 PM

Unreal this thread is about the Cowboys and of course there has to be a bitter piece of sh*t packers fan who has to chime in. I understand your pissed a Favre for leaving, but christ get over it. He was the one who was responsible for putting them back on the map.

We do know that NY won the Super Bowl two years ago. Remind us again when either of these teams did that last? Based on today’s performance, Philly would have been better off missing the playoffs and getting a higher draft pick. Thanks for giving Vox endless material for the next year. I always look forward to his post season disappearing act, but now he’ll probably stick around just to rub this in your faces.

Andy Reid is an Evil Genius.
I see you I love Candy Reid.
After he seen that the Cowboys couldnt get the 2 seed he decided to throw the game. He wants the Cowboys to get full of themselves and brim with confidence so they will under estimate the Eagles next week. He told Sean McDermott not to blitz and to let the Cowboys receivers run wide open. That way they will run plays that they think will work but really the Eagles will know how to shut down.
Seriously this was a good game by the Cowboys but it doesnt really mean much. Yes the Eagles dont get a bye and have to play in Dallas so what. Just b/c the Cowboys won today it doesnt mean they will win next week. Also the Eagles played so bad on offense that the Cowboys really didnt see what they had.
Lets be honest if the Eagles would have executed their were TONS of plays that could have been made. Their were alot of dropped passes and over/under thrown balls.
Im not saying the Eagles would have won this game they wouldnt have. Im saying they could easily win next week b/c those plays will still be their and the o-line will have another game together. As long as the Eagles sure up their mistakes, next week should be interesting.
The Eagles played so bad the Cowboys couldnt really learn anything from this game on the other hand the Cowboys played great and used the whole offense so the Eagles have alot to learn. As long as the coaches can get their heads in the game and make adjustments the Eagles will be fine.
If I was a cowboys fan I would hold my celebrating to a minimum b/c they still have to beat the Eagles next week. If they knock the Eagles out I will be the first one to congratulate them, but right now everyone is 0-0 and its a whole new season.
    E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!!!!

  39. .VoxVeritas says: Jan 3, 2010 7:19 PM

Well would you just look at that. Never saw an eagle lay a goose egg before but there you go. Their medical staff is wishing they had packed a rape kit right about now. Might be a good idea for next week’s return to the scene of the crime.
That’s division championship #20, girls, and the second in Wade Phillips’ three years as head coach.
Oh, and he’s 4-2 against the Eagirls.
    Suck it. Hard.

100% chance that the Eagirls are going to be walking funny most of the next week.

  42. Indyeagle says: Jan 3, 2010 7:24 PM

Good win for the Cowboys. They dominated my Eagles in every aspect of this game.
We better get our heads out of our arses for next weeks game and start bringing the pressure and pray that McNAbb is more accurate. He left a lot of plays out there early that could have changed this game around. Romo made plays and Don didn’t, bottom line.
    Good win Cowboys. Congrats.

  43. .VoxVeritas says: Jan 3, 2010 7:25 PM

“Flagrant late helmet to helmet hit on Romo in the 4th. ”
Late hit wasn’t called when he tweaked his back, too. The classless Eagirls should have had at least 4 personal foul penalties today.

First off I’m having trouble believing Indyeagle is a legit Eagles fan, for obvious reasons….grammar, respect, a glimmer of self-governance and humility.
Did the loss of Jamaal Jackson play a huge role in the Eagles running game being non-existent?
I think McNabb’s fumbled shotgun snap was a game-changer and that it wasn’t that horrible of a snap. It was low but I think he should’ve had it and also should’ve done a better job to recover.
Looks like Maclin channeled Roy Williams on those drops.

They had everything wrapped up a week ago, LOL!
I beleive now the teams to watch out for is Mn, GB, and Dallas, the rest are done. Any one of these three can do it.
    Well here is my two cents;
What team is going to stop a master at his position, a future hall of famer, a team playing at home in the playoffs, a guy that came back from retirement to accomplish one thing, A “SUPERBOWL VICTORY” when he (Brett Favre) is so close now?
I think that will be NO-ONE!!!!!!!!
    THIS IS OUR YEAR!!
    THIS IS OUR YEAR!!

Its funny how there isn’t anything other than this thread about the Cowboys victory even though they have shutout 2 division opponents two weeks in a row. The bias on this site is amazing. I’m sure after we beat them 3 in a year that the eagirls fans will have some excuse. My favorite was that Andy Reid threw this game so he could see Dallas’ game plan. Lol, hysterical. Keep up the asinine comments Eagles fans

    hahahahaha
naah. just a playoff game in philly vs. a playoff game in Cowboys Stadium.
“Lets be honest if the Eagles would have executed their were TONS of plays that could have been made.”
OK, let’s be really honest. If your aunt had balls she’d be your uncle. Want more honesty? The Cowboys offense didn’t really have a great day but still hung almost 500 yards @ 7 yards per offensive play on the Eagirls defense. There’s room for improvement on both sides, but the Eagirls pretty much have to hope that the Cowboys beat themselves. If both teams correct the mistakes they made in this game and execute flawlessly, it’ll still be a blowout in the Cowboys favor.
“If I was a cowboys fan I would hold my celebrating to a minimum”
If I were an Eagirl fan I wouldn’t be talking constant smack about a 5 time Super Bowl winner and the second winningest franchise in NFL history OR a coach that is now 4-2 against the Eagirls since he took the job.
