Favre sits early as Vikings cruise towards win

Brett Favre got a little extra rest in Week Seventeen, after all.

Favre left Sunday’s game with a 31-0 lead in the third quarter. His excellent play from the second half of last week’s game continued. Favre finished with 316 yards and four touchdowns on 31 passing attempts against a collapsing Giants defense.

The Vikings will clinch no worse than the third seed in the NFC playoffs with a victory, removing any drama from the Packers-Cardinals game this afternoon. The Eagles need a win to get the No. 2 seed.

The Vikings lead 44-7 with time running down. David Carr is in at quarterback for the Giants.

UPDATE: The first version of this post had a massive playoff scenario brain fart. We knew better. Apologies.
