Mangini moving closer to termination

The good news is that, unlikely a year ago, Eric Mangini won’t be fired the day after the regular season ends.

The bad news is that it could happen on Tuesday.

Jay Glazer of FOX reports that the first-year Browns coach will meet with first-week Browns president Mike Holmgren on Tuesday. If Mangini is unable to sway Holmgren, Mangini will be relieved of his duties.

If that’s what happens, it’ll be the first time a guy has been fired as an NFL head coach in consecutive years since 1998-99, when Ray Rhodes was fired by the Eagles and then dumped by the Packers.

At this point, Mangini’s only hope might be to fire his agent and hire Bob LaMonte.
