Moore has final chance to impress

Five quarters can change a lot about a team’s perception of a quarterback.

Until the fourth quarter of Carolina’s victory over the Vikings, Matt Moore was looking like a capable backup quarterback with solid numbers.

Since then, he’s completed 20 of 27 passes for 331 yards, with five touchdowns and no picks in two blowout victories. The performances don’t guarantee anything except that Moore will likely get to compete for a starting job next year.

The bigger question is whether he’ll compete with Jake Delhomme, a new Panther, or both. And whether John Fox will be around to coach him. Either way, Moore has one final chance to impress Sunday against the Saints.

Racking up passing yards won’t be easy: It’s expected to be around freezing at gametime in Carolina, with 10-15 MPH winds.
