Report: "Very strong indication" Jaguars are for sale

Over the past few years, rumors have surfaced involving a possible sale of the Jacksonville Jaguars.  Consistently, the Jags have denied these rumors.

And now they’re back.

Jay Glazer of FOX reports that there is a “very strong indication” that the 15-year-old franchise can be purchased by the highest bidder.

The observation emerged in connection with a discussion regarding coach Jack Del Rio’s status in Jacksonville.  Glazer said that Del Rio is safe under the current regime, but that things could change if a sale goes through.

And if the team changes hands, it surely will be a candidate to move.  So maybe we’ll see the London Shaguars, after all.

Stay tuned for the Jaguars’ anticipated denial.

Someone will buy the team and move it to LA. Then they’ll have to jumble some divisions again, because you cant have an LA team in the AFC south. Drop the Chiefs into the South (they’re in missouri anyway…not a western city) and let the Jags go to the west.

This is journalism at its best. What does a “very strong indication” mean? Who or what is giving off this indication? This isn’t news Florio.

    LA here they come!

  4. BaltimoreSports says: Jan 3, 2010 1:16 PM

It looks like passing Baltimore up for an expansion is almost officially Tagliabue’s greatest failure.

Ok so Glazer said “Glazer said that Del Rio is safe under the current regime, but that he might not be if the team changes hands” How is that a “Very strong indication”
Also I dont see how Del Rio is safe under the current regime when the Owner just recently said he isnt happy with the direction that Deltio is taking the franchise.

Filler content. You can’t report on something from a discussion. Discussion between who? Quit the crap. Weaver has continuously said the team is not for sale.

  8. JaxJagtixholder says: Jan 3, 2010 1:34 PM

This is no secret. Wayne Weaver said years ago he’d be open to selling a PORTION of the team. His kids have no interest in taking over. Way to churn up something that is at least two years old. Bravo Florio. By the way, Bobby Bowden made your Mount-Me-Neers his b*tches

  9. evilboy128 says: Jan 3, 2010 1:35 PM

and Florio finally reports his favorite topic for the new year, Ladies and Gentleman, Florio’s 675th “jaguars are moving” report. Soon to be followed (predictably) by Florio’s 1035th “Tarp in the Gator Bowl” joke. Your hate of the city and people of Jacksonville is showing again Florio…dick.

  10. Ubernerd232 says: Jan 3, 2010 1:40 PM

Even if the move to LA is made, Chiefs aren’t leaving the AFC West. Traditional rivalries with every other team in the division, plus the Hunt family has enough respect that they won’t be moved against their will. If the Cowboys can be in the NFC East, the Chiefs can remain in the West. I say move the Jags to the NFC West and send the Rams to the AFC South.

  11. Madman says: Jan 3, 2010 1:49 PM

Since when has geographical location mattered in the NFL?

  12. leatherneck says: Jan 3, 2010 1:59 PM

If they go to LA, the Jags could swap divisions with the Rams. That would increase the geographic proximity of both divisions.

did someone just fart? oh..no..just Diamond Dave slurping in Florio’s lap again.

  15. Bills-N-Yankees says: Jan 3, 2010 2:11 PM

Please move the Jags to LA. That way we won’t have to hear the national media say the Bills are moving to LA after Ralph Wilson dies. Jags fans have no excuse. At least the Bills sell out every game. Even meaningless games against Lance Painter and the Indianapolis Colts in a driving lake effect snow squall.

    diamondDave13,
a POS town? do you live here? “Waste our time” if its wasting your time why are you reading it? We’ve heard this shit about the Jaguars moving for the last few years, Wayne Weaver isn’t going to sell this team..at least not right now. Mike is a douche and he does suck. His reporting is horrible. His “sources” are probably bullshit and somehow i still come to this website…siiiigh.
Lets talk about the Chargers who have a really good record, goin to the playoffs and can still barely sell out their games..now – why would you move another team to the unproven state of Cali when it comes to football?? There is a reason there isn’t a team in LA..leave it that way.

  20. DiamondDave13 says: Jan 3, 2010 2:29 PM

Sara…Personally, I dont like tomatoes so I choose not to eat them. My point is that if the site is so bad then why do you read it? Just doesnt make much sense to me.
Evilboy…well played. Mike and I both know I thoroughly enjoy slurping in his lap. Perhaps after you’re done burning a cross on your neighbors lawn you can join us.
Jacksonville still sucks and I apologize for that fact.

And the rumors have yet to be true. So stay tuned for PFT’s anticipated failure to be correct. Again.

  23. WashingtonRedstorms says: Jan 3, 2010 2:44 PM

    This is quite funny.
Southern Californians are going to shell out hundreds of dollars to watch the Jags play the Texans????
    Get real.
Jags belong in Florida. Or they can move to San Antonio.
This is a redneck team that belongs in the redneck South.
    Rednecks dont exsist in L.A.
Keep this hillbilly franchise in North Florida.
Don’t insult L.A. with Trailer Trash.

Obviously you’re a little 14 year old kid who reads and repeats the same topics week after week. You say Jax is a POS town. Ever been to Jax? NO. Ever said that before this year? NO. You’re just a follower like everyone else who say the same ol sh@t. Tell you what tough guy, when you hit puberty and bust your last pimple, form your own opinion and while you’re at it, get some new material. You’re irrelevant.

Diamond Dave, You don’t have to apologize for being yourself. as for the cross burning…pretty funny considering I’m Black…not surprising you threw some racist talk into the reply on this post considering it is full of ignorance and stupidity. Your a fine example of a Typical Florio Fan. Taking his word as gospel and judging others based on your limited intelligence. Now get back between those legs bitch

  27. DiamondDave13 says: Jan 3, 2010 3:21 PM

Where the hell am I?! Ha!
My cross joke was a jab at rednecks and an obvious fail at a comeback. Your slurp dig was great and I had nothing. Again, well played. As for taking Mike’s word as “gospel”, my original post said I didnt think the NFL should’ve put a team there to begin with so I dont think believing what Jay Glazer reported is taking Mike’s word as gospel. I feel sorry for you if you feel the need to spew on a little football message board…especially when you’re wrong.
    Jag4Life:
At least Evilboy was funny. I wish I was still 14, I have been to Jax: Worst. City. Ever. Just plain dull. You cannot disagree with that! I’ve felt this way since I saw a real team win a Super Bowl there…at least the stadium isnt too awful. And what material should I use? Your team sucks? That’s even older. That said I still get pimples, but that’s mostly from oily skin .
    Ciao ladies….

  28. Sara says: Jan 3, 2010 3:40 PM

    Washington Redstorm,
soooooooo this is coming from a redskins fan? really?! Trailer trash? Hmmm…I don’t think so. Hillbillies? Yes, if you go to Middleburg there are plenty. Its amazing how players leave the Jags and keep their homes to retire here, must REALLY be a hillbilly city. MORON. Think of something better to say because so far you’ve failed.

  31. chrismoore06 says: Jan 3, 2010 4:56 PM

They should have never given that team to Jacksonville anyway. They should have given that team to Baltimore and the NFL could have avoided the whole embarrassing Browns episode.

  32. jagtom0025 says: Jan 3, 2010 5:25 PM

Its funny that Oakland, who blacked out 7 out of 8 games, has a delapatated staidum, and an exsiting fan base in LA doesnt get all the “moving to LA” rumors. The team isnt for sale, we aren’t moving, and this is one of the nicest citys I have ever lived in. And I have been all over the country. Oh, and Mike, you should save crap stories like this for slow news days…

  33. jj jones says: Jan 3, 2010 6:15 PM

“They should have never given that team to Jacksonville anyway. They should have given that team to Baltimore and the NFL could have avoided the whole embarrassing Browns episode.”
How do you figure? The Browns needed a new stadium. If Baltimore had a team Modell would have just used Jacksonville or Tennessee for leverage.

Today, S.I. reported that Majestic is going after the Jaguars and Bills. First off, the Bills will never go anywhere. Jim Kelly’s group will take-over and eventually remodel Ralph Wilson Stadium like Lambeau Field did.
Majestic will end up buying the Jaguars and they’ll move to the NFC West while the St. Louis Rams will move to the AFC South.
One, it allows the AFC West to keep their rivalries. Two, it’ll cut travel down for the AFC South and Three, the Jaguars won’t host the Raiders or Rams for 10 years allowing the fan-base to catch on. If the Jags played say… the Raiders as their first home game in Los Angeles, it would be Raider Nation in the Stadium easily.
I do think relocation is coming to the NFL with the Jaguars going to Los Angeles and the Vikings (because Minnesota will never build a new stadium) will go to Toronto to keep the NFC North rivalry alive.

  35. mrichierich says: Nov 14, 2011 2:03 AM

All ill say is I am from San Antonio and I believe my city has the potential to host an NFL team in the future… The NFL would even be able to keep them in the AFC South. It would make a great rivalry between the Texans!!
