Turner not expected to play

While nothing official has been announced, Michael Turner will miss another game Sunday because of his ankle injury, according to John Czarnecki of Fox.

Turner has not practiced all week, so the news isn’t a surprise.  Turner has taken only one carry since Week Twelve and only 13 carries since Week Ten.

There was a lot of preseason chatter about Turner’s ability to stay healthy after a huge workload in 2008 – 377 carries.

If Turner is unable to play today, he will finish the 2009 season with only 178 carries.  He actually improved his yards per carry average to 4.9 when he was on the field and still scored ten touchdowns.

His absence this late part of the season should be attributed to the foolish decision by the coaching staff to play Michael Turner in the Tampa Bay game late in November, rushing him back too soon, when he should have been healing up for the Iggles game the next week. Turner was busting out like Dolly Parton in a tight blouse the previous few weeks against the Saints, Redskins, & Panthers but went down late 1st half of that Carolina game, after a sub-par first half of the season. Injuries have taken their toll this year after an injury free season in 2008 for key players (except T Sam Baker for a spell). Like the mighty phoenix we shall rise again, like Jack Nicholson on the purple pill.

When I read this I thought the Bears had pulled the trigger early on our offensive coordinator. Damn.
