With 49ers win, Rams have first pick in 2010 NFL draft

The San Francisco 49ers are on the verge of beating the St. Louis Rams today in a game that is meaningful for only one reason: It gives the Rams the first pick in the 2010 NFL draft.

By finishing their season a league-worst 1-15, the Rams will be assured of having the No. 1 overall pick in April. At 2-14 the Detroit Lions will get the second overall pick.

Plenty can change between now and April, but at the moment Nebraska defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh appears to be the early front-runner to be the first overall pick. He would be a popular pick in St. Louis, where Rams fans were shown on TV waving signs with Suh’s name on them during the game.
