Bills fire entire coaching staff

Black Monday has arrived in full force in Buffalo.

Per Jay Glazer of Fox, the team has fired their entire coaching staff

It’s not a surprise the Bills are making sweeping changes.  But it is notable that the team has let go some longtime assistants like vaunted special teams/assistant head coach Bobby April.

There have been previous reports that interim head coach Perry Fewell was going to interview for the permanent head coaching position.  It’s unclear if that is still the case.

It’s also unclear if cleaning house in the most dramatic way possible will be enough to entice one particular big fish in the coaching pond that reportedly spoke with the Bills last week.

    Great move.
Hopefully they can find a gig for AVP at One Bills Drive. He has Bills-lifer written all over him.
    Admin for Russ?

That pretty much guarantees that the Bills have locked down a coach who has his own staff. Possibly Cowher, possibly someone else but they Bills desperately need a big name coach to return them to the level of play they enjoyed in the early 90′s.

I would be stunned if Bill Cowher went to Buffalo. He seems to be too much of a glamour guy for a place like Buffalo (no disrespect intended).
Washington? Yes. Chicago? Yes. New York if Coughlin is axed? Yes. But I just don’t see him going to Buffalo.
    Just my opinion.

Can’t wait to see the Chin in red, white and blue. Also we will welcome back Dick LeBeau.

Yes, Glamor. Pittsburgh was a very glamorous place. He wants a city just like it.

I think this was a very poor move. Why not let all the staff sit and have a shot at keeping their jobs when the new head coach comes in? Chances are he might want to keep some of those guys.
This just created more work for whomever comes in. Also not fair to guys like Fewell, who were solid in their position coaching before and did a stand-up job as a fill-in HC.

This is just a sign of the Bills desperately courting a high profile coach. They are going after Cowher hard. This is a sign to good ole Bill Cowher that the Bills will meet all his demands. Hope it doesn’t fall flat and have them hire a whole new staff to accomodate a coach they didnt really want in the first place…

you know our franchise sux when someone would rather stay on tv than return to coaching, happened to us twice this year can’t take this team anymore

I’m going to miss Bobby April. He led one of the best special-teams units in the league the last 5 years or so. He was fun to watch on the sidelines going crazy and firing the players up. He will find work soon.
I have a feeling the Bills are going to announce a hire very soon… and all signs point to Cowher.

eric … I’m not talking about sun, fun and surf. How old are you? How much do you truly follow the NFL??? When it comes to teams and franchises, there are very few – any – more glamorous than the Pittsburgh Steelers. You won’t find any coach of any worth who wouldn’t love to coach the Steelers. Organization. Continuity. Talent.
The Bills have been insignificant for years. That’s my point. But, of course, I don’t even try to pretend to know what Cowher is thinking. I just think he kind of felt like he outgrew Pittsburgh at the end there.
As far as cities go, Buffalo and Pittsburgh are similar. But, as for NFL franchises, well, c’mon man.

Hopefully it’s because it’s cowher has already told them he wants his own staff haha….
Wasn’t it reported last week that cowher was putting a crew together????

I am a life long Bills fan, but I would be shocked if Cowher comes to Buffalo. This organization is a dysfunctional mess. Just see last week’s quotes by the cheap, clueless old owner! Cowher has a job and is not deperate enough to get back to coaching to except the Bills’ pathetic situation! Plus, Ralph is too cheap to offer Cowher $8-10M per year…….Ralph would rather hire someone he already knows or get lucky with some former asst coach that he or his Old Buddy knows!
This franchise will suck until Ralph is no-longer the owner. My first choice is a new owner who keeps the team in Buffalo, but I would rather see a new owner move the team than Ralph continue to run the show and keep the team in Buffalo!
