Let’s be honest: No one really knows what Al Davis is going to do or when he’s going to do it.
The journalists in the Bay Area that cover the Raiders collectively don’t expect Tom Cable to return as coach, but for now it’s business as usual in Oakland. Cable met with Davis Monday and his job security was not addressed.
The two men will meet again next Monday.
This protracted coaching news has become an annual tradition with the Raiders. So has the Black Monday presser by a coach that is a goner.
Davis doesn’t move on the general NFL timeline. Cable didn’t know he was officially the Raiders head coach until February 4 last year. For now, Cable is evaluating his players and expects to be back.
And only one person knows if he will be. Heck, that one person may not even know yet.
