Redskins-Chargers one-liners

The Redskins blew a lead late and lost 23-20 to the Chargers in a fitting end to their season.

Said Redskins WR Malcolm Kelly, “It’s a terrible loss. With everything that has been going on with this whole team, today kind of sums it all up. You get to the end again and you have a game won and lose again. We have to find a way to put it together.”

Clifton Brown of the Sporting News has a checklist of necessary steps for the next Redskins coach.

Redskins DT Cornelius Griffin said that he felt fine after a helmet-to-helmet collision with LB London Fletcher in the fourth quarter.

Redskins QB Jason Campbell completed 28 of 42 passes for 281 yards and two touchdowns.

Chargers QB Billy Volek hit RB Mike Tolbert for the winning touchdown with 35 seconds remaining in the game.

Lightly-used Chargers RB Michael Bennett had a season-high 90 yards from scrimmage.

WR Buster Davis, the Chargers’ first-round pick in 2007, had six catches for 52 yards.

Said Chargers QB Philip Rivers, “You have guys that were able to get work and get better. That’s important because, as we’ve seen all year, you never know when a player will be called upon. We’ve had so many guys step up throughout the year, and I’m sure somebody else will be called upon over the next few weeks.”

Chargers K Nate Kaeding hit three field goals and has now made his last 20 tries and 69 straight from 40 yards or less.
