Report: David Harris will play

Cedric Benson better study his tape this week: Jets linebacker David Harris is playing.

Harris, the NFL’s ninth-leading tackler this season, has been uncertain to play after suffering an ankle sprain Sunday.  But David Hutchinson of the Newark Star-Ledger reports it was only a “mild” sprain and Harris will suit up.

While we’d call Calvin Pace New York’s most important linebacker, Harris is not far behind.  The team credits him with 142  tackles, 5.5 sacks and an interception.  The NFL, always stingier listing tackles, has him with 127 tackles, good for ninth in the league.

Rex Ryan has tried to keep Harris’ status a secret, but the inside linebacker will be out there.  Maybe he can introduce himself to Benson Saturday afternoon.

“but the inside linebacker be on the field.”
    Are you guys even trying?

Also! Jim Smith will play too!

Is Rosenthal trying to talk “ghetto fabulous”, or is it another one of his many incomplete sentences? “…tried to keep Harris’ status a secret, but the inside linebacker be on the field.” I can’t figure out if Rosenthal needs some grammar lessons, or Florio is just working him too hard? Go to sleep, Rosenthal… you need it!

Benson will give him a concussion to go along with the ankle.

Not to be a stickler but its 2 interceptions..you can add the 2 forced fumbles if you like as well.
I do agree with you that pace is the most important because hes our best pass rusher (8 sacks in 12 games) BUT David Harris spells doom for Cedric Benson and the Bengal hopes of establishing the run.

I apologise Dave Hutchinson got harris stats wrong..wow if my ony job was to report on the Jets I’d probably get my stats right jesus.

I hope Benson runs him the hell over then spikes the ball in his face. Benson has had a career year and it would be fitting.

Yo Rosenthal, do they actually pay you to do this? Either way, it’s pathetic that you are not capable of writing an article without some sort of grammatical error. Someone needs to go back to school, yes?

Could you use any more east coast or anti-bengals bias? How about slanting this article and asking Harris if he’ll be healthy enough to handle the punishment Benson is going to give the jets defense? I could understand your bias if the Bengals were the wild card and the Jets were the division winner… What’s next, an article asking which Bengal will get arrested before the game? Or maybe an article about the lack of support shown by bengals fans in one of the most economically depressed areas of the country? Seriously, it’s time to move on from bashing the Cincinnati Bengals.

Hopefully the Jets will shut down Cincy again and Harris will get some recognition.

Benson’s the best Bengal on the field, but Harris, Scott and Pace will stuff ‘em!!!
Carson can’t connect with Chad – Revis Island is a “No Fly Zone!” Last week’s stats were 1-11-0… as in zero passing yards.
Jets have the best defense and rushing attack. We’ll triumph and you’ll go home. What’s worse… you live in Cincinnati – ouch!

Harris is definitely more important than Pace, Harris is one of the most underrated players in the league b/c he plays on a D full of talkers while he rarely says a word.
Last year Harris was hurt and our D suffered, this year pace missed the first 4 games and the Jet D allowed a total of 43 pts.
Harris, Revis and Jenkins are the Jets 3 best defenders. Jenkins is alrady out so losing Harris would have been huge. Hopefully he’s playing.

Harris is over rated. Won’t make a diffference this week as the Jet’s season ends with the fat man crying foul.

@Barbella, I see you thought so much of your comments, you posted them twice. Awesome!
But………..unlike your posting habits, don’t expect the Jets to get the job done against the bengals…twice.
Most arrogent 9-7, playoffs gift wrapped, in the history of the NFL. Rex Ryan looks like a fat Parcells. “Its funny cause he’s fat.”
Really, act like you’ve been there. Gatorade bath when you “backed into” the playoffs with two teams playing for nothing.
Last comment: Why does Sanchez have to play into the typical stereotype by wearing that little rat mustache that would commonly be associated with the nickname “Dirty Sanchez”? I know it sounds cliche, but does a multi-million dollar QB in the NFL really need to sport a half ass, black mustache?

  17. jsj says: Jan 6, 2010 8:35 AM

No way the Jets win this week. 2 weeks ago when they were 7-7 everyone thought they sucked. Now, after two wins over teams that weren’t trying, they’re all of a sudden good?? Child please.

    WhoPlaysWhere,
sour grapes make fermented whines (pun completely intended). Can make a few guesses who your team is, but why bother. Your comments about a moustache, jabs about the Gatorade bath…you sound like the jr. high cheerleader who lost the head cheerleader spot to the girl that put out. Oh, and the “black moustache”…you’re racist to boot! Nice!!
Get off the computer before your mom comes downstairs to the basement and sees you didn’t make your bed or take a shower yet. Don’t want to be grounded and miss the games this weekend, now do you??
Oh, and hope you enjoy the playoffs. The grown-ups posting on this site certainly will!
    Loser!
