Thank you for empathizing. I see some people our there do understand. If the Jags leave, I’m done. I mean I’ll watch games, but if you don’t have a team to follow and root for then it’s meaningless. Kinda like still being in love with your first love, but she’s married. It’s pointless. I represent my Jags to the fullest and it will be a sad day if they leave. I just wish every Jag fan felt the same as I.

I will stop watching the NFL. I am a Jacksonville Jaguars fan, not a Packers fan, not a Vikings fan, etc..
I live and die as a Jacksonville Jaguars fan. (my family has been here over 100 years).
I root for my home city, not another.

Everyone has the same ol’ nobody cares in Jax talk. Where you are sadly mistaken is there are alot of us that do care. Imagine the team that you root for and adore moving. Most of you think it’s funny until you’re in that situation. There’s nothing funny about. I love the Jaguars and support them win lose or draw. This was a bad season, but it will get fixed just like alot of bad situations get fixed. All of you guys are just flavor of the months. Next month or next season you’ll ride some other coattail subject and repeat it all season again. Get some new material. All of you are played out.

It can’t help Del Rio that the people he couldn’t work with are doing better elsewhere..
i.e. Marcus Stroud, Greg Williams, Mike Smith, Mike Peteresen..
The Jags should have just bought the remaining seats like Tampa Bay did so they didn’t get all this bad pub. That way, the press could focus on other teams facing blackouts (Bucs, Bengals, Vikings, Chargers, Lions, ..)

Del Rio is safe due to his contract and the amount of money it would take to bring a big name in.
Garrard is safe because of his contract and the fact that there is no one on the team behind him and the money it would take to bring a big name in.
The current plan is to ride these contracts out and let Gene Smith build a team similar to what they have in Indy, Pittsburgh and New England (before Pioli left.)
The long term is that Weaver is 73 and his family does not want to take over the team. The team will sell at some point. Question is what will the new owner do if the coach, qb and city are still underachieving by NFL standards.

Jags had 14 sacks this year and were 30th in pass defense, gave up the most points since the franchise’s first season and a rush offense that had a drought of 20 yards run for 160 straight carries until finally getting one in week 17, will be more than a “lower end playoff team” with a better QB? Can you even be a playoff team with what I laid out above. The Jets can get into the playoffs with a crappy QB (regardless of what he may be in the future) because they had the number one defense and number one rush offense in the league. Where would the Jets be with David Garrard as QB? The Bengals passing game was pitiful this season and they are in the playoffs because they run the ball and play D. Flacco and Ryan were in the playoffs because their teams ran the ball dominantly and played good defense. Jacksonville hasn’t done either of those in a while. But yeah, lets just draft a so called “franchise” QB and all of a sudden Reggie Nelson will be able to make a tackle and Derrick Harvey and Quentin Groves will start harrassing the opposing QB.

We started off winning, with a QB / WR that put people in the seats, but when things started to go south, they really went south. Brunell was cut for Leftwich and Jimmy Smith couldn’t stay off of the crack. His replacement – Matt Jones, another cokehead.
Our first round draft picks have all been busts in the last 4-5 years: Leftwich, Williams, Jones, Nelson & Harvey. The first 3 don’t even play in the NFL anymore. Nelson hurt us more than he helped us and Harvey still might come around, but you expect a lot more from a second year pass rusher than what we had in ’09.
Last year’s draft seems to be a good one. It wasn’t the rookies that were blowing plays to cost us a chance in the playoffs – it was the age of the veteran players. The fact that we gave an average back-up QB the kind of contract we did is a whole other topic. But if we can build from last year’s draft on through next year, I think that we will be a playoff caliber team in the next 2 years. Gene the GM seems to be doing a great job, but only time will tell.

Actually, what set the Jags up for failure was going to the AFC Championship Game in only their 2nd year of existence (perhaps I am mistaken, but I think they were selling out find then), as well as going 11-5/11-5/14-2 in the next 3.
But since 1999, Jacksonville has only had 4 winning seasons and 1 playoff win (2007). That has more to do with why fans won’t come out. They got spoiled with early success and then bailed when the team started to struggle.
