Cardinals game avoids blackout, but tickets remain

For the 43rd straight time at their new stadium, the Arizona Cardinals have “sold out” and will be seen in their local market.

The team says only “a handful” of tickets remain, but Tom Pelissero of the Green Bay Press-Gazette was quoted a different number.

A Ticketmaster spokesperson told his paper that 4,100 tickets were available earlier Thursday. The Cardinals may have sold many tickets in the meantime, but that big a gap shows how ticket numbers and information can be skewed.

For instance, we mentioned how the Patriots announced 100 tickets were being made available Wednesday morning at 10ET.

A Ticketmaster search yesterday indicated there were likely many more tickets available than 100. 32 hours later, there are still good seats left in the mezzanine section. (There are far less options than yesterday; you can’t get four seats together and less sections are available overall.)

The available tickets aren’t proof of weak fanbases, but they do show even the NFL isn’t totally immune to the economic downturn.
