“Check the stats,Allen is doing great and he goes against 2 or 3 guys always.” If Allen is going against 2 guys…it’s fairly rare and usually it’s a chip from a RB because your 2 dopers in the middle require the attention. If Allen is drawing 3…then the rest of that D-line is taking naps every snap.
“Mathews would be silent if double teamed. ” He gets doubled the same way mullet-boy does..with chip blocks.

And while we’re on the subject of guys getting into the Pro Bowl because other guys backed out… Lame.
Guys used to actually play the game. Now you can’t easily remember who was voted in and who the reserves and subs are. It’s fairly pathetic. It dilutes the meaning and the honor of Pro Bowl selection.
I’d prefer if they didn’t even play the game. Most of the players either skip it or loaf their way through the game to avoid injury. None of the fans really care what happens in the game. Just name the Pro Bowl players and leave it at that. It’ll be like All-American recognition in college.
And this is coming from a Packer fan who thinks Matthews was a huge boost to the Packers this season.

Haven’t we already covered the topic of the difference between a 4-3 outside linebacker and a 3-4 outside linebacker? I think we have. Read up, Percy. There’s a huge difference and you wouldn’t expect a 3-4 outside linebacker to put up the same tackle numbers as a 4-3 OLB.

Congrats to Clay. USC’s defense never recovered from losing Mathews, Cushing and Maualuga(who played much better than his so-so stats indicated) all at once.
The thing that impresses me about Mathews: he’s strong, fast and has a motor. Too many guys in this leauge are strong, fast, and take plays and games off and whine about their coaching staffs *cough Julius Peppers *cough

LB has always been my favorite position and it’s great to see so many good ones coming into the league now and playing lights out from the start.
Matthews and Cushing of Houston will be good for years.
Last year the Texans had Ryans. Whoever is drafting for that LBer corp is doing outstanding work.
Another year or two and these guys will be even better with NFL level experience under their belts.

As a Vikings fan, I think Clay Matthews is a great pick up for the Packers. No problem with this recognition.
But the Pro Bowl is a joke. Just name a team for recognition, like a college All-American team. Players don’t want to actually play the game. Most feel lucky to have made it through the season healthy and don’t want to risk spending the offseason rehabbing an injury in a meaningless all-star game.
The Pro Bowl has the feel of a bunch of guys on vacation playing a game where everyone has an insider agreement not to do anything that could result in injury to someone else. I’ve seen more intensity in my daughter’s 8 and under soccer games.

the REASON they put the game in Hawaii, is because players were begging out of the game, because of injuries,…I’m sure our Comissoner is not aware of this [SARCASAM}, but these guys are begging out of the game even quicker than I thought they would…it is kind of funny, how people talk about who made the Pro Bowl, and who didn’t…the players want the recognition of making it, before they beg out of it,…it’s the ONLY MAJOR SPORT where people don’t want to play in it’s all star game, or if they do play, it’s done in such a half-ass manner, that it’s not worth watching. IF they CANCELLED the Pro Bowl, would anyone care?
