Where do you think Ryan got this from? Where was he for 10 years & who was the head coach for 9 of those years? He got it from Brian Billick, who did this in Baltimore all his years, but he was more gutsy than Ryan, he did it the 1st day of training camp, he didn’t wait to get to the playoffs or back in as Ryan’s team did against a couple teams who quit so he could get in.

Hes not being cocky he’s trying to instill confidence and belief into his players that they can win the super bowl. It’s a motivational tactic that my college basketball coach used on us when preparing for our conference tournament and NCAA tournament. He’s trying to bring a winning attitude to his team. This will help them ignore the fact that they probably won’t win a super bowl and continue to over achieve as they have all season.

Ryan seems to enjoy talking more than eating..if thats possible.
If, he was playing Pitts or NE..2 teams well coached & not the type teams you chirp at….he’d be preparing his funeral.
Hoping the Bengals have such pride [ who knows, they are kind of a goofy team]…and beat the tar out of jets.
Tired of hearing so much from a team that hasn’t won since 1969…God, I was in diapers then.

I like Rex Ryan. He’s good for the league. That being said, I don’t think they get past the Bengals. At the end of the day, the defenses will cancel each other out and the Bengals have a better offense (not much, but better) and home field. Bengals 24-13.

Haha Rex Ryan, you crack me up. Whether or not this is a good strategy, we’ll see. I do have the Jets beating the Bengals today, due to the tremendous defense of scheme Ryan has brought to NY.
Love him or hate him, you do have to admit he’s a trip. Very player oriented coach, and you can tell he’s a fan of the game. Good Luck, Rex.

I loved it when Buddy Ryan was HC of the Eagles, it was a lot of fun. I think it’s a lot like that for Jets fans now.

The “apple didn’t fall from the tree” as it regards Rex and his ole’ man Buddy, neither is shy about being a blowhard! Buddy did win one SB and he milked that for everything he could but thus far the prodigal son is nothing but “hot air” and somewhat of an embarrassment to himself and his team. He talks as though the Jets deserve and “won their way” into the playoffs, ignoring the fact that the Colts and Bengals both laid down for his team just to prevent the Steelers from getting into the playoffs.

This is such a non-story. My guess is most of the teams do this. Brian Billick handed out a schedule at the start of the 2000 season that included the entire playoffs and Super Bowl. So this is not something Rex thought up on his own.

I have obtained a copy of the schedule that Rex Ryan distributed to the team. Here’s an excerpt for the schedule for Monday January 11:
8:00 to 9:00 am. – Breakfast. 3 eggs scrambled, a pound of pig, hash browns, toast, lots of butter
9:00 to 10:00 am – Post breakfast nap
10:00 to 11:00 am – Snack time
11:00 to 12:00 am – Break
12:00 to 1:00 – Lunch. Catered by Five Guys Burgers and Fries
1:00 to 3:00 pm – Post lunch nap
3:00 to 4:00 pm – Snack time
4:00 to 5:00 pm – Break
5:00 to 6:00 pm – Dinner. Country style ribs, extra fatty. Mashed potatoes with lots of butter, Rolls with butter. Dessert.
6:00 to 7:00 – Recap the day
