Cowher could shed some light on his 2010 status

With plenty of rumors but not much fact linking former Steelers coach Bill Cowher to the Buffalo Bills, Cowher will have a chance later today to address whether he’ll be jumping back to pro football, when The NFL Today launches on CBS.

Cowher has been a fixture there in the three years since stepping away from the game.

Even if he won’t be going to Buffalo, it would be a surprise if he says he’s not returning in 2010 because there still could be a surprise or two in the coming weeks.

But the door remains open in Buffalo. Owner Ralph Wilson admits he has spoken with Cowher about the job, per the Associated Press.

And the guy who won Super Bowl XLI thinks that the guy who won Super Bowl XL is ready to return.

“I run across Bill now and again in New York, and I know he would like to get back into the NFL,” former Colts coach Tony Dungy recently told WGRZ-TV.

As things currently stand, Cowher might have to wait a full year -- if not longer -- before he finds the right opportunity.
