Though the 2009 campaign ended with disappointment for the Eagles, who lost consecutive games at Dallas to conclude the season, there was a thin silver lining in the dark cloud that parked over Philadelphia.
Rookie receiver Jeremy Maclin not only became the youngest player ever to catch a touchdown pass in the postseason, but he also set a franchise record with 146 yards.
Maclin broke the mark of 142 yards, which was set 21 years ago by tight end Keith Jackson during the Fog Bowl in Chicago.
And we know what you’re thinking — what about Terrell Owens in Super Bowl XXXIX? He generated only 122 yards on nine catches.
he’s gonna be a good one. i like his fire and attitude. loved the cheap stiff-arm to Hanlon.
Irrelevant.
of course the cowboy hater will find something positive about the loser eagles. And you sucked and got owned by peter king, stay off tv, you sound and look like you dont know what you’re talking about.
give maclin 2 years, if he puts on some muscle, he has potential to be great
Florio, are you trying to pat the eagles on the back and tell them everything is going to be ok tomorrow? They just got humiliated twice in 6 days. There is NO silver lining for them.
Philly needs help in the trenches
Great! I hope he enjoys his little weak ass team record while he sits on his couch watching the Cowboys play next Sunday!
Really, Florio? This is the best you could come up with between bites of crow?
pathetic Florio. team accomplishments are meaningless when you are preaching to 32 fan bases.
come on guys dont let that fool florio rain on the parade. hes just doin it to get everyone riled up. just keeping up his cowboy hate. thats all hes got right now. cant crap on the boys til at least next week.
This is the story to take from tonight? Really? Not that the Cowboys destroyed the Eagles when you have trashed on the Cowboys all season? OK, don’t post the real story: that the Cowboys D is playing at a championship level. Yeah, the story is that an Eagles WR put up good stats in a humiliating loss. Damn, Florio, I love your site, but don’t become a joke.
CHOKING on the biggest game in years since the Eagles loss in the Super Bowl (last week), they followed it up with an almost as impressive effort tonight. They are pathetic. With so much on the line last week (the division and number 2 seed) they get shut out to a division rival. I thought that they would at least make it a game tonight after how they looked last week. These back to back loses to their biggest rival couldnt have happened to a deserving team and city. Its nice that the Eagles play the last couple games is such fitting discription of the team’s fans and the city that claims them TRASH!
P.S. I just moved to Philly last year, trust me, the city is trash (burried in it).
Brett Favre just shit his pants. He now realizes that he will have to be Demarcus Ware’s grilfriend next week. Retire for good after this season asshole.
lmao it figures that the keystone state lovin fag (even though he’s from west virginia) would post an article about an eagle wide receiver after that team just got their assssses whipped for a 3 game sweep by the Cowboys. I can’t wait for the Viking-lovin posts leading up to next week’s game.
Maclin – Nice game rook. Too bad the better team won.
Question for you: Where is the “ass-stinger?” He was pretty quiet..
Florio will discredit the Eagles in an attempt to discredit the Cowboys.
Haven’t you heard? The Cowboys didn’t beat any good teams this year.
Maclin did very well but this league requires a team effort and it just wasn’t there.
Eagles fans are just going to have to suck it and admitt the better team handled them last week and this week when it mattered most.
McNabb was fired up (look at his Jonny Guitar imitation coming out of the tunnel) but the talent to back it up just wasn’t there.
…not even close.
Oh, and Michael Vick…really?
Florio -
Please, Please, Please, pick the Vikings next week!
Idiot.
“Irrelevant.”
dont worry…the Vikings have your beat down and Adrian Peterson stomping waiting….
florio, you are shameless in your refusal to admit that this Cowboy team is playing well…
After they get their third win over the Eagles, you want to talk about a rookie WR who had a good year?
N*&^% please…
Didn’t Maclin drop balls and turn into a coward any time a safety came over to hit him? Yeah, what a great player. Geez, Eagles fans are really grasping at straws.
Talented kid, too bad it’s looking like he’s being tainted with the low-class brush of that organization. And until he gets his team to the Super Bowl and carries as much of the load in the Big Game ™ as Owens did, he can shine Owens’ shoes.
When Kolb is throwing to him next year him and Desean will be unstoppable. Eagles need to get good on defense though.
If you feel the need to single out a player, Felix Jones would have been a better call. He made everyone else look like they were running underwater on his way to a buck forty-eight and a TD.
God you Pokes fans are funny all doom , gloom and dread a month ago, now you’re gonna win the world championship?
Let me know how that works out for ya? I’m gonna go get head from Tiger cause your antic bore me!
Passing or receiving yards when trailing by a large margain are not really meaningful. How often do you see the QB on the wrong end of a blowout rack up 450 yards passing? Seems to be a weekly occurrence.
Get those stats in a game that’s competitive and then I’ll be impressed.
Hey FLORIO!
34-14.

Ummm…it’s spelled Hamlin. Why dont you learn how to spell, you big monkey.
Congratulations to the Cowboys.
Go Vikes!!
Cowboys win their first playoff game since ’96 and the fans already think the team is awesome. Wake up call next week when the boys play a good team.
Of the SIX of the 12 – 2009 playoff teams who LOST their Week 17 game – TWO of them lost yesterday leaving but FOUR left of the remaining 10 teams still in the hunt for this year.
Note – Only ONE team since 2000 that LOST their Week 17 game won the Super Bowl and that was the 2007 Giants who tried hard in Week 17 vs. the Patriots that year.
One Week 17 tanking team lost yesterday.
Good for him, does he want a cookie?
I wonder if the Cowboys were the first team to win a Play-off game with an undrafted free agent QB and an undrafted free agent wide receiver.
Want to check on that for me, Florio?
It’s a sliver lining.
the silver lining is that they went 11-5 with a makeshift D and a makeshift O line. How many other teams could do that? The “window” is wide open, for years to come.
they’ll get their shot Dallas next year. That’s what’s great about the NFL.
Wow, cowboy fans here are terrible winners. They sound just as bad as the eagle and viking fans, classless.

——————————————-
Really no silver lining ?
All they did was lose a Football Game and they got paid handsomely doing it. When Monday comes they will all be on vacation somewhere counting their big stacks of cash, where will you be ?
Florio as much as I hate to agree with Cowboys fans, you need to give the philly praise a rest.
They got manhandled last night, Mcthrowitlow sucks they have no running game to speak of, and Andy Ried is done.
@Stinemonster
The silver lining may be the end of the McBadd era. Imagine what these young receiver could do with an accurate QB who display some emotion every once in awhile. Aside from his constant clowning around.
Nicks>>>>Maclin
Was Jerry giving W a reach-around, in the owners box?
Let me guess……he’s the greatest rookie of all time.
Actually Florio, you don’t know what I’m thinking because T.O. never entered my mind reading that. What did enter my mind however, is that I wish Hamlin would have punched him right in the vagina after that cheap shot out of bounds.
Enjoy the playoffs punk!
hopefully Kolb is throwing him passes next season

+1
Philly’s D misses Jim Johnson (RIP), and it may be time for Donovan to hang up his cleats.
2 teams who laid down on week 17 are already ousted. Good luck Indy, I’ll be laughing all the way to the SB as the Chargers defeat Minnesota
How about posting the truth?
Maclin’s TD was a result of Jenkins slipping and falling down. Not because he made a great play.
You dont think its relevant to make a story about how the Cowboys broke their streak? Or how well the Cowboys are playing? Or how the Cowboys OWN Brett Favre?
Of course not. You have ZERO CREDIBILITY and you have the nerve to run down reporters of teams websites like Nick Eatman for being supposedly biased?
You are biased against the Cowboys and its clear for everyone to see.
We want to see YOU WRITE AN ARTICLE ABOUT THE COWBOYS! NOT YOUR LACKIES.
You guys are all idiots. Florio likes the Giants the most out of any team. If you read this site frequently, you will see that.
You guys on here that are bashing Florio need to re-evaluate your lives. Is this really what your life has come down to? Going on the site that he founded, reading his articles, and then bashing him in the comments once when he doesn’t write what you want.
The thing you losers don’t realize is that web site owners get paid by advertisers. To get advertisers to come to their site, web site owners show them traffic statistics (which is the number of people that visit the website).
So you losers that come on here and try to bash Florio are actually getting him paid…….
I like the site, so I don’t care either way, but I thought I would inform all you non educated people out there….. you guys need to really take a step back and look how you are spending your time….
Maclin proved that he’s a coward last week and a cheap-shot artist this week. It will be fun watching the Cowboys beat him down for years to come.
“All they did was lose a Football Game and they got paid handsomely doing it. When Monday comes they will all be on vacation somewhere counting their big stacks of cash, where will you be ?”
Still laughing about how big they talk but how small they play.
“the silver lining is that they went 11-5 with a makeshift D and a makeshift O line.”
Didn’t beat a single playoff team all year. Not even one. Usually got curb-stomped whenever they played one.
Saints 48-22
Cowboys 20-16
Chargers 31-23
Cowboys 24-0
Cowboys 34-14
3 of 5 games against playoff teams lost by 20 or more.
“And we know what you’re thinking — what about Terrell Owens in Super Bowl XXXIX? He generated only 122 yards on nine catches.”
And didn’t short-arm a single pass. Unlike Maclin. For who? For what?
Holy hell, Vox Veritas you are a loser. Four straight posts in a row? You are a loser man.
There is more to life than a computer screen man….go get laid or something……
Typical modern day computer geek……100% chance you have a ton of porn on your computer and are unathletic as hell…..
how come there’s no articles about Desean Jackson stinging that ass!! hahahahaha
This was a good year for rookie WR’s, maclin as good as he is and will be is the third best for this years rookies. percy harvin is a beast and hakeem nicks was 4th on the depth chart for half the year and missed 3 games with injuries had a better season as well. At least when the eagles rebuild they have maclin, mccoy and jackson who are all young. but will have no qb
Cowboys are on a roll right now….The worst they can get is the NFC Championship. They can contain Favre, Harvin and Petersen. It’s another mismatch issue for the Vikes.
Peter King is suddenly a genius. Mike Florio…..Oh that was so off.
Why is this even a PFT news? Where is Felix Jones column? Tony Romo? DWare?
“Holy hell, Vox Veritas you are a loser. Four straight posts in a row? You are a loser man.”
Doesn’t mean much coming from a guy that strives for an androgynous look. 100% chance you have eye shadow in your man purse.
“Why is this even a PFT news? Where is Felix Jones column? Tony Romo? DWare? ”
Don’t hold your breath. Still waiting on an article about Anthony Spencer winning NFC Defensive Player of the Week last week. PFT mentioned everyone else that won a DPOW award last week. Not Spencer. You’d think that the story would get some print, since it was the 0-3gles that allowed the Cowboys to trade up in the ’07 draft to get Spencer in the first place.
@linskeet: “Cowboys win their first playoff game since ’96 and the fans already think the team is awesome.”
Well, let’s see. They end the winning streak of the undefeated Saints, in New Orleans. They end the season with back-to-back shutouts of division rivals. They win the division. They beat the Eagles three times in one season–each win more convincing than the last.
Sure, they had their shaky moments this year, but so has everyone. I don’t think I can remember a team ever ending a season and starting a postseason so commandingly and convincingly. Even if they don’t beat MN, all the above is still true.
And I hope you’re not implying that the Eagles are somehow awesome, with a record of choking unparalleled in NFL history.
While his record means very little without a victory, I believe this is a very important step for Jeremy Maclin. Who will be even better next season.
But it will most likely be Kolb throwing the kid the Balls and not Super Five.
