When the Pete Carroll news first broke, he was expected to bring USC offensive coordinator Jeremy Bates with him to Seattle.
Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports that Carroll actually prefers another former USC coach. Carroll is trying to lure Norm Chow to come with him to Seattle.
Chow had an up and down run as offensive coordinator with the Titans before heading back to college and running the UCLA offense.
The news about Chow could be a boost for the Bears. The team is expected to take a run at Bates. Biggs writes Bates is no lock to be Chicago’s offensive coordinator, but his history with Cutler is a plus. The Bears have also reached out to Mike Martz.
And yes, we’re aware of the Associated Press report that says the Carroll deal to Seattle isn’t done just yet. Nearly every other outlet, for now, is essentially reporting the opposite. Carroll is meeting with the Seahawks Sunday in an effort to finish a deal.
Good, now trade for Lienhart please so we can get him off the cards roster and on the seahawks roster.
well since bates worked with cutler in denver where he actualy looked like a nfl qb, it would be a smart thing for the bears to hire him right?then you can count on that not happening because this is the bears and they don’t do the smart thing.they will probably hire another one of lovies old coaching buddies who believes in getting off the bus running and would not dream of doing anything that lovie did not agree with since his systems have worked so well the last 3 years!
Lovie is an idiot. He can bring in Jesus to help Cutler and if they don’t improve the O-line and running game (partly due to O-line too) then Cutler will not improve.
Look at the other top young QB’s:
Rivers SD – first years started with Marty ball and LT in prime.
Romo – struggled earlier in career when running game up and down, but great this year with 3 headed running game.
BigBen – Had Cowher and ball pounding his first years.
Flacco – Had strong running game last year and this year.
Matt Ryan – Michael Turner – he looks a lot different with Turner out.
Need a solid running game to help young QB’s along. Decent offensive line also helps.
Cutler carved up the Viqueens in one of the few games he had good protection.
Throwing 50 times a game just leads to gunslinger mentality that Lord Favre developed when he was young.
Goodell: Rooney Rule not violated
Chew on this Florio! In between bites of crow from last nights game, of course. Even Goodell agrees the Rooney rule is a joke.
“They have in both cases,” Goodell said. “I can assure you they have complied with the rule with the information that I have. I mean, I’ve been in contact with them, so they’ve been in compliance. I can’t give all the details, but they’re in compliance.”
The Fritz Pollard Alliance, which monitors minority hiring in the NFL, said last week that the Redskins did their due diligence in interviewing Gray. At the time, Alliance chairman John Wooten said the interview satisfies the Rooney Rule and it didn’t matter that the job is not yet vacant.
Bates to the Bears, Martz to the Bears, God to the Bears. Won’t help no matter who it is. They suck on cheese and always will.
GO PACK GO.
” Carroll is trying to lure Norm Chow to come with him to Seattle.”
Now go get an O-Line and work on the running game.
No matter who they get their going to suck period. Its the Bears!
Because Chow was such a success as a coordinator for the Titans a few years back…oy I feel bad for Seattle fans if this happens.
Yeah, so he can stab him in the back again for Lane Kiffin and Steve Sarkisian when they flame out at both of their jobs that Chow’s success at USC helped both of them get.
