Warner makes a strong closing argument for Canton

Accepting as accurate the report that Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner will call it quits (unless he doesn’t) after the current playoffs, his performance on Sunday against the Packers has clinched his case for eventually wearing a mustard jacket on a hot day in Northeastern Ohio.

Warner has completed 24 of 28 passes for 312 yards and five touchdowns against the Packers.

His team leads by seven with plenty of time left.

Regardless of what happens today, Warner has done enough in an amazing final three years of his career to overcome what Peter King calls the “donut hole” in Warner’s career -- the 2002, 2003, and 2004 seasons.

Meanwhile, enjoy Warner’s work while you can. Super Bowl win or not, he’s going out in style.
