Choice will play, didn't suffer concussion

The Cowboys expect have a full complement of running backs this Sunday.

Matt Mosley of ESPN reports that Tashard Choice did not suffer a concussion against the Eagles.  Cameras caught Choice looking dazed as he left the field in the fourth quarter.

Choice suffered a “mild concussion” the week before, but he’s expected to practice fully this week.  Marion Barber is still expected to start, but may be limited in practice after taking a shot to his troublesome knee against Philadelphia.

Felix Jones will surely get a boatload of touches against a Vikings rush defense that is much easier to attack to the outside than up the middle.

Dallas rushed for 377 yards combined in their two games against the Eagles.

As a new Vikings fan I can say it doesn’t matter who the Rb is they wont run against the MN defense.Man I wish I was a Viking fan all these years instead of rooting for a team where the fans wear cheese on their heads.

Yeah if you want to play… don’t even come close to saying the “c” word…
“Concussion? What concussion? I didn’t have a concussion!”

  4. BradyGazelle says: Jan 11, 2010 1:36 PM

Yeah, right. Of course Choice had a concussion, but since it’s the playoffs they will just ignore it.
Do they think we are that stupid?

  5. boysroll says: Jan 11, 2010 1:43 PM

viks are going to get hammered by my boys. stop pertersen and pressure favre and this will be an easy win 31-10.
My boys are on a roll and SB bound. They are clicking in all phases and do not see a team left that has been playing this well.
    HOW BOUT THOSE COWBOYS!!!!

  6. NFLJunkie says: Jan 11, 2010 1:44 PM

bob_nelson, good luck. The Cowboys offense doesn’t have to score 30 or 40 points to beat the Vikings. Their defense is scorching right now and I think Favre is in for a very rude awakening on Sunday.
I’m sure he will personally meet Ware, Spencer and the rest very frequently. And I’m sure he will complete a couple of passes to Jenkins and Newman too.
This overrated Vikings team will finally be exposed in the playoffs like they were in the regular season against Carolina and Chicago. Romo should have a field day on Sunday. Ditto for the defense.

  7. Bob Loblaw says: Jan 11, 2010 1:57 PM

Cowboy team doctor: “Tashard, do you remember getting a concussion in the Eagle game Saturday night?”
Tashard Choice: “No, I don’t remember that.”
Cowboy team doctor: “Good. I guess you’re OK to play this weekend.”

  8. ThePragmatist says: Jan 11, 2010 1:57 PM

Hmmm… a player now has to see an independent physician to come back from a concussion. But who gets to decide whether he had a concussion in the first place? It smells like Choice and the Cowboys have found a loophole here…

  9. kravon says: Jan 11, 2010 2:00 PM

Any Cowboys fan that assumes this will be an easy win this weekend is just plain ol dumb. The Vikings are not the Eagles.

  10. kravon says: Jan 11, 2010 2:06 PM

The present day Cowboys are not that different from the same ones who lost at the Giants and Packers just a few weeks ago.
The Eagles relied on big plays to do alot of their scoring this season, the Cowboys did a good job holding that in check the past two weeks. Eagles were no threat to run the ball at all. It will be interesting to see how the defense reacts this week.

  11. Scott P says: Jan 11, 2010 2:09 PM

Brett Favre can’t beat Dallas when it matters. This will be like a bad trip to the past for him, and Vikings fans. For him it will feel like 1992-95, and for Vikings fans it will be 1998 all over again. It’s ok though, Brett will probably play till he’s 50, so you have that.

While I agree Bob Nelson is a complete tool, it’s pretty pathetic when you feel you have to imitate someone else rather than just be yourself. Kinda sad, really.

  13. Contra says: Jan 11, 2010 2:12 PM

Hahaha these posts from Cowboys fans are great. Really, they make me laugh. You guys win one playoff game in how many years and automatically its a dynasty in the making? Do you remember who your QB is? hahahaha, ah well, it would be a sad world if people didnt have hopes but you guys are seriously abusing that privilege. Good luck on Sunday, really though, good luck.

  14. VickIsNoQB says: Jan 11, 2010 2:33 PM

1Q…Dallas gets a lead early to quiet it down in the hood.
2Q…Fav-re will be throwing off his back foot.
3Q…Chilly and Fav-re will be in sideline spat.
4Q…Fav-re will throw his 2nd and final pick for Minn.
Sorry Vike fans…you were destroyed by Carolina in wk 15, lost to Cutler in wk 16, before beating the Giants who already packed up for the winter in wk 17.
Dallas is playing at such a high level in all 3 phases right now, I honestly would be shocked if they don’t win by double digits.

  15. purpleguy says: Jan 11, 2010 2:33 PM

Yeah, Choice looked like he had all his faculties when he walked off the field Saturday. What the hell, he probably won’t start feeling any lasting effects until age 45 right? And NFLJunkie, precisely which team is getting all the hype for this game as the hot team on a roll to the Super Bowl? The media and Cowboy fans pop a chubby every time the Cowboys win a few games in a row. A Cowboy fan calling another team overrated, that is truly rich.

  16. Grulks says: Jan 11, 2010 2:33 PM

I don’t know that either team is going to “easily” win, but I do expect it to be a defense dominated game. Vikes appear to have a better run stopping defense, but unfortunately they also have a very suspect secondary. Dallas will exploit that early and often.
Dallas’ pass rush is picking up at the right time. Between Ware and Spencer, you have Ratliff and Bradie James in the middle.
Favre is going to have a very very tough time, and if it weren’t for the fact that this game is in Minnie, I wouldn’t give them any chance at all to win.

  17. YouthofToday says: Jan 11, 2010 2:59 PM

No Henderson = no victory for MIN. The Vikings have looked incredibly soft ever since losing their MIC.
    America’s Team 34-13.
Yep, it’s going to be a blowout. Minnesota’s oline is vastly overrated, and they don’t have an answer for Spencer and Ware coming around the ends. Favre will understand why he was hesitant coming back to the NFL.

  18. NFLJunkie says: Jan 11, 2010 2:59 PM

The present day Vikings are also the same team that got smoked by Arizona and their suspect defense, got hammered by Carolina and their second string QB and got torched by INT league leader Cutler of all people!
They are also the team who should have lost to SF at home if it wasn’t for a miraculous last second play and should have lost to Baltimore at home if they had an NFL kicker at the time.
That leaves them looking like a 10-6 team to me. I know shoulda, woulda, coulda’s don’t count, but don’t act like they are unbeatable. Oh, and it’s also the team who was losing to Cleveland at halftime and struggled with Detroit the first time around. Don’t start believing the Favre hype, this team is very beatable.
Name one game where Dallas got blown out or looked horrible? I can’t really find one. Sure they had their “down” games, but who doesn’t? It’s how you finish. And they are red hot right now, no question.
Am I saying it will be a blowout? Probably not. But if the Cowboys play their game, they should win by 7+ points. If they turn the ball over however, it can be a loss for sure. I’m not that stupid.

  19. chunky soupy sales says: Jan 11, 2010 3:15 PM

I don’t hear anyone saying it was going to be easy, But I sure hope the Vikes think it will be.the Vikings may not be the philths, but Dallas aint no Carolina, either. And check out that game.
Given Favres record against the ‘Boys in the Playoffs and Petersons penchant for putting the ball on the ground you guys better be careful about beating yourself.

  20. kravon says: Jan 11, 2010 3:19 PM

The minute you think you have it figured out, some other team in the league smacks you in the face.
This weeks example will be the Cowboys from Dallas and Minnesota will be doing the smacking.

  21. govikings27 says: Jan 11, 2010 3:22 PM

All these post leave out the games where the vikes absolutely dismantled their opponents and had favre on the sideline before the 4th quarter. Should be a great game, but by no means an easy one for either squad

  22. chunky soupy sales says: Jan 11, 2010 3:46 PM

“And NFLJunkie, precisely which team is getting all the hype for this game as the hot team on a roll”
Should it be The Vikings, who lost three of their last five?
They should be favored being at home and rested, but they surely are not the team you would say is the ” hot team on a roll”.

  23. gunboat says: Jan 11, 2010 3:48 PM

“You guys win one playoff game in how many years …”
Actually the Cowboys have won 34 playoff games…how many has your team won?

  24. kravon says: Jan 11, 2010 4:01 PM

The team that typically gets most of the hype in the playoffs is usually the one that fails to win the Super Bowl.
Look at the most recent winner.

  25. dr.g says: Jan 11, 2010 4:02 PM

Cowboys gave up more than 21 points TWICE the entire season (both Giants games). I think they can manange to score 22 on Sunday, so I like their chances.

  26. Hap says: Jan 11, 2010 4:06 PM

“They won’t run against the Minnesota defense.”
You HOPE they don’t. Because if they do, that will open it up for Romo.

“The team that typically gets most of the hype in the playoffs is usually the one that fails to win the Super Bowl.
Look at the most recent winner.”
Huh? Pittsburgh got plenty of Hype last year and they won it.
As did New England the years they won it, as did San Fran in the eighties and Dallas in the 90’s.
Then main hype I have heard this year has been for Indy( deserved for going 16-0) and for Favremania.
Any Dallas Hype is coming from the backlash to all the ” Dallas can’t win in December and Dallas can’t win a big game” from the past years.

  28. NFLJunkie says: Jan 11, 2010 4:15 PM

govikings27, didn’t they dismantle teams that they SHOULD have dismantled? Playoff teams do that, including Dallas. Don’t forget how many people they blew out either.
I don’t think the Vikings dismantling the Rams, Seahawks, Lions, Bears (once), Giants and Cincinnati is anything to get all excited about.
On the other hand, getting blown out by Carolina should be something to be worried about. Losing to Arizona in the fashion that they did should be something to worry about. Letting Cutler pick you apart is definitely something you should be worried about.
But no worries, you will finally be able to see who your team really is on Sunday. Favre can’t move like McNabb can, so expect Ware and company to have a field day.

  29. chunky soupy sales says: Jan 11, 2010 4:21 PM

I like all this fake concern for Choice. ” sit him so he won’t get hurt” is in reality ” sit him so he won’t play against us”
He’s an NFL player, it’s his risk to take.
Go pity the coal miners and steel workers for a change.

Do you start off every sentence with the words ” as a new Vikings fan” ?
If you KNOW all of this, surely you must have tons of bets on this game. I mean, it’s a LOCK for the Vikes, right?
Man Dallas may as well stay home and the network needs to sell the time to someone else.

  32. NFLJunkie says: Jan 11, 2010 4:44 PM

bob_nelson, are you being serious in your posts? The Cowboys won’t score a point? Haha!!
Jared Allen will do what? Is this the same Jared Allen that got half of his sacks for the season against Green Bay when their line was in shambles? Is this the same Jared Allen that disappeared for a month without a sack? Child please.

Ahh, the optimism of a new Viking fan. Don’t get too comfortable there buddy, they will be soon relocating to Los Angeles.

If Dallas can hang on and not self implode in the first quarter, then they’ll be alright.
I see them wearing down the Vikings with a few long drives.
A.P. is a beast and Dallas hasn’t faced a freak like him. He’s like Brandon Jacobs but with skill & heart.
The Vikings offensive line is big, but overrated.
    Dallas 27-Minn 23

The Cowboys, of course. What choice do they have? It’s not like you guys support your team at all. The Vikes are probably the best they’ve ever been, they probably have their best ever chance of winning Super Bowl and Minnesota couldn’t care less. Why would you expect anyone else to care about them? You’re going to lose your team.

I think it’s gonna be a good game, not sure why you lutefisk eaters are so sure the Vikes will be able to flip a switch after stinking up December. Beating a Giants team that quit on it’s coach does not count.

LOL I’m so happy that the Cowboys have this new found sense of power by beating up a worthless, overrated Philly team 3 times. We got you right where we want you..over confident. Favre and his receivers have been lethal this year. are running game is a 2 headed monster. You really don’t know the skill and power of AD until you face him. We are so much better than the Eagles. We beat the Pack twice. The Pack could beat the Eagles or the Cowboys.Your linebackers and safety play will be exposed. You will amass penalties in our house.
Party this week lil Texas partners’ come Sunday afternoon that bbq steer and cheap beer won’t taste so good. Jared Allen will be roping Romo like a baby steer all afternoon. Your getting set up to be mugged…and don’t even know it!
