Quinn will visit specialist about Lisfranc injury

New Browns Poobah Mike Holmgren says Brady Quinn won’t require surgery on his foot, but Quinn is seeing a specialist Tuesday, according to Mary Cay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain-Dealer.

It’s believed Quinn has the dreaded “Lisfranc” sprain, which has replaced the dreaded high ankle sprain as the most dreaded lower leg injury in football.

It’s a very difficult injury to get over during the regular season, but Quinn has time on his side.  Then again, he’ll want to get back on the field as early as possible in the spring to impress the new bosses.

Eric Mangini didn’t always show a lot of faith in Quinn during the 2009 season, but perhaps his new G.M. and team president will feel differently about him.

Leave it to Brady Quinn to have the gayest sounding injury possible.

Of all the QBs in the league, Brady Quinn and Jason Campbell probably top the list of “QBs Who Desperately Need to Get Out of Town to Save Their Careers” [and sanity–their’s and our’s].

Wow, how subtle of you to, in your last “stanza,” point at a “possible” difference in view between coach and team president after what is, or was, surprisingly an unbiased read….Rosenthal you are coming down with the Florio Epidemic!

Screw Mangini…what an ass this guy is…Quinn will be a probowl QB…

Quinn isn’t likely to have much of a career in Cleveland. In 12 starts over 2 seasons, he has ended up on IR twice. I hope Holmgren doesn’t make a move for Hasselbeck, as he is also IR bait at this point. With a decent draft and consistent(ly good) qb play, the Browns could surprise people next year.

    Quinn sucks anyways…

Lisfranc sprains are NASTY. That sucks, those usually require surgery or lots of rehab. Good luck Brady.

The rest of the AFC North hopes he starts in 2010. Quinn is the worst QB in the AFC.

Is there like, a specialist that can make him not suck?

  10. elways_jock says: Jan 12, 2010 12:29 AM

charlie frye — holmgren traded for him in seattle and showed him some true coaching along with then Qb coach jimmy zorn — charlie frye back to the browns to vindicate himself amid the worst draft and free agent ‘experiment’ ever – quinn and anderson .. frye was the fall guy for milquetoast front office inadequacies .. so daddy holmgren should welcome him home again ..

He needs to check his vas defernes.

Nemesis – lol! Dr. Kevorkian maybe?
Holmgren will probably bring in a vet, draft a mid-round QB, and try to mentor Quinn for a year to see how it turns out. If it doesn’t look good they’ll move on.

First thing that Team Holmgren needs to do is secure Michael Vick… we need a quarterback… period. Quinn sucks, Anderson is even worse… Time for a change, we need a talented, experianced quarterback to lead us into the new decade… and no, Charlie Frye is not the answer in any situation!

Quinn is the worst QB in the AFC?
Um, ever heard of Jamarcus Russell? Thought I’d ask.

  17. dakotah says: Jan 12, 2010 8:15 AM

I like the irony of someone whose username is dawgfan suggesting that Michael Vick is the answer at quarterback. I suspect the best he could lead the Brown’s to is 8-8. Of course, for the Brown’s this would be an improvement.

I like people that know nothing about football piling on a coach because the media hates him. Similar to when John Cooper coached Ohio State. You could always tell the ones who knew nothing about football, because at parties they say “I HATE JOHN COOPER!” Oh yeah? How come? “HE’S A JERK!”

  19. TrueFan says: Jan 12, 2010 8:52 AM

    Sorry Browns Fans…
But you are all blaming the fact that other than a very FEW bright spots… you’re team is devoid of talent on Brady Quinn.
I’m not a Browns fan. But you need to know the guy is by FAR the best QB you had over the last few years on your Roster.
Quit being stupid football fans and blaming everything on the QB. Give the guy some receivers who don’t drop everything he throws to them and some time to throw it and he’ll do just fine.
The problems on this team are elsewhere. EVERYWHERE elsewhere unfortunately.

  20. GeniusJoe says: Jan 12, 2010 9:23 AM

The team proved one thing at the end of the year. They don’t need a QB to WIN.
    RUN, RUN, RUN!!!
    And then RUN some more….

  21. The Coop says: Jan 12, 2010 10:29 AM

I would trade Quinn for Campbell in a heartbeat.

  22. SATAN567 says: Jan 12, 2010 10:30 AM

    @ Poo Flining Monkey:
He’s close to being the worst in the AFC, but I’d still reserve that slot for Jamarcus Russell.

  23. dawgfan says: Jan 12, 2010 1:34 PM

I have to disagree with the folks saying the reason Quinn looked bad was he didn’t have any receivers…
Quinn can’t hit screen let alone passes downfield, even the best receivers in the league need the ball within 10 yards to catch it!
Quinn was another Tim Coach move… can’t scramble, can’t throw… why waste the pick…
Plus this is the second year in a row he ended up on IR…. TRADE HIM!!

  24. Peoples Champ says: Jan 12, 2010 1:51 PM

    @ SATAN567:
    I strongly agree…lol
