This is what I like about Eagle fans. They NEVER fail at over-valuing the talent of their players. Any team that gives up a #1 for McNabb deserves to have that player beat them for the next 15 years. Only Al Davis, in an attempt to have one more winning season before he dies, would give up that much in a trade for a perrenially overrated QB with only another 2 or 3 years in him.

djzato and SixOneZero, thank you for being intelligent Eagles fans that actually know how to analyze a game.
Besides the cowboys just beating us, the problem was play calling, and has been all season.
First and foremost even though they claim they run a west coast offense, there were far to many vertical routes to be a west coast offense. Some could say that they had to since they were in behind, but that’s bs.
Andy Reids problem is he thinks his way is some revolutionary way of thinking, like Bill Walsh, but it is not. He thinks everything is about x’s, o’s, and exploiting match ups and it’s about the system. Dallas’s coaches obviously had an answer for the system and like always he nor mornigwhatever could make adjustments.
I can’t even fault the d, with the injuries they had, they were on the field all day. Except Macho Harris, he’s terrible. Leanord Weaver is averaging 4.6 yards a carry, why did he only have 1 attempt? The eagles had 7 rushing attempts with running backs all game, that is unacceptable and how, if you know anything about football, can you not blame that on the coach?
You have a new center playing a monster d line, why is he constantly in shotgun? What position for success are you putting your players.
Adversely, you look at Dallas. They knew that the eagles would be blitzing, so what do they do, they create great screens, draws, and high completion quick passes and put the ball in the hands of the play makers and let them make plays.
No Reid thinks his routes are more important and can exploit better than his players can with their talents.
This has nothing to do with Mcnabb, this and almost every other lose can be put solely on Reid and his band of incompetent idiots, and their play calling.
Does Andy need to go, no he needs to be in the front office not coaching, or not in the front office and coaching

You can clearly see what my moronic fellow Eagle fans cannot…The Reid/McNabb era HAS worked. Have we won a Super Bowl? No. But 5 NFC Championship games in 11 years is a hell of an accomplishment. And all you have to do in the NFL is get into the playoffs…after that anything goes. Look at the last few years. Who saw the Steelers OR the Cardinals coming last year? Who saw the Giants winning the SB in 2007? The front office knows this, and that’s why you don’t blow up an arrangement that keeps getting you to the playoffs. Put yourself in a position to win it all and then hope you get the breaks. It eventually happened for Elway. Why can’t McNabb be the next Elway? Nobody wants to admit there’s an element of chance involved, but there is.
The front office is right to not do what the fans clamor for. There’s a reason they have the job and you don’t. You don’t change things because you’re bored, you don’t change things because you don’t like a guy’s demeanor, and you don’t change things because you’re pissed off and impatient. You change things because there’s another way to go that gives you a better opportunity. And that doesn’t exist here. So Reid and McNabb stay.

Keep in mind Chilly has a relationship with him and Favre has probably one more year in him before he truly hangs it up. Interesting timing…

The Reid/McNabb combo wont work. Thats what people are missing. If we are going to keep on we need to get rid of the other. Keep Reid and implement either Kolb or vick. Keep mcnabb and get a run first/defensive coach. A WCO with an innaccurate passer and a weak O line is a recipe for FAIL.

First off, the loss was not all McNabb’s fault. Neither was last week’s loss. It was coaching. Reid and company have trouble adjusting mid-game. It’s been their achilles heel for ages. Their philosophy is: When the passing game isn’t working, keep passing because probability states it will work eventually instead of leaning on the running game, whether it works well or not.
Reid and Morningwheg doesn’t let the running game get into a rhythm except when Westbrook is not playing. When Westy was out, their balance was near 50-50. When he came back it went back to 75-25. That makes you predictable and easy to defend. Moreover, when you line is getting beat, you don’t let them stand there and take more of a beating, you run so they are the ones punishing the D-line instead of taking the beating. It’s pretty simple.
Morningwheg is the real problem in Philly. He calls the plays. HE NEEDS TO GO ASAP.
Finally, as much as I’d like to see McNabb go, he’ll probably be here another year because they usually have winning seasons with him and that brings in tons of money in Philly, and in Philly, money is the only thing that matters to the front office. Nuff said!

This complicated offense works in practice but but just doesn’t work on the road. McNab doesn’t have all the mental goods either. After 10 yrs in the league he should know games can end in a tie. The owner seems content to let this teams potential go unrealized.
Passing almost exclusively in a loss to OAK whose pass D is their strength is unacceptable. They could and should have run the ball all over them like even lowly KC. This team with capable leaders should have a couple superbowl rings.

I tell people that when I was a kid, the Eagles didn’t make the playoffs even once until I was 17, and they think I’m kidding. Yep, 8 years in the playoffs out of 11 ( including 8 of their last 10), 5 NFC Championship games, and they hadn’t lost in their first playoff game in any of those seasons until this past Saturday. I agree that teams are ultimately measured by how many titles they’ve won, but I’ve never seen one Super Bowl champ win the trophy without making the playoffs first.

This says more about Kevin Kolb then McNabb. If Reid thought Kolb was the QB of the future he would dump McNabb. He must not think Kolb can handle the game and therefore needs to go wtih McNabb one more year.

Lurie and Banner have never run this organization in lockstep with what the fans and the media want them to do; they do what is prudent for them contractually, since they know they will never have a merchandising or attendance problem in Philly. They have McNabb signed for next year, as birdmancometh alluded to, they signed him without extending him with the understanding that he gets 2 years to win it, then they move on… This was the first year… I’ll repeat what I said.. Most fans and media have them moving both McNabb and Vick for draft picks, leaving them with just Kolb. Why would they do that? Let’s say Kolb has a minor injury next year , and misses the same amount of time McNabb did this year. Who are you going to play? Is it OK with you if the team goes 5-11 next year? Didn’t think so… Look the same things that bother you about #5 also bother me, but I’m a realist. The ownership sees everything in Eagles land as fine the way it is; they’re certainly not going to go out of their way to make the QB situation WORSE for 2010.

OLine + no running game + weak defense = playoff loss. Don’t blame the plumber when the outlet causes a fire…….
After giving myself a few days to reflect, any Eagles’ fan that thought this patchwork of a team would win the Super Bowl was being delusional. Myself included in this. Yes, the Eagles were able to make a crazy run (7-1 I think) w/out Westy, but it’s a different animal in the playoffs.
Dallas was the better team and, although it pains me to say that, that is simply factual. Period, end of story.
Gotta shore up the Oline and draft someone who can tackle. Our 2nd and 3rd teamers now have some experience that will pay off next year. Provided they don’t have to start every game.
Hopefully, we can get something for Vick. Then the evil plan will have come full circle…..

He’s in regression. Starting a QB in regression in the NFL is not conducive to winning the big one. Donovan proved he couldn’t win the big one when he was at his ceiling and it’s painfully obvious now that he can’t win the big one while in decline. He’s gone whether Reid will admit it or not. Show Don the door one way or the another. Hopefully Marty is right behind him on the way out!

Trade McNabb pronto… there’s not much he can do in Philly and his services would be more useful in some rebuilding team that needs a couple solid years from a QB.
Let the Kolb era start while keeping Vick as a high paid back-up/insurance. And get a mf’ing MLB worth a damn and maybe Philly will be able to actually go somewhere worth merit (i.e. Super Bowl).

Kolb, with the opportunity to play, would become one of the best QBs in the league. He can read defences and DOESN”T MISS RECEIVERS HIGH. I would rather have an accurate, smart QB than one with a “big arm”, aka Jamarcus.
Try to get anything for Westbrook and McNabb while you still can Philly. Kolb is the future and with time to develop with those young receivers, plan on winning plenty of NFC crowns.

McNabb is a terrible fit for the WCO, but I would rather see the Eagles ditch the WCO and go for a more possession/power oriented offense. Finesse offenses are too finicky and easy to knock out of sync. And they are hard on the defense. The birds’ D personnel is pretty good but no D can hold up when their O either goes 3 and out or scores in 1 minute.
having said that, 11-5 with a makeshift O line and linebackers is pretty good.

I read this site every single day, and this finally made me create a username so I could post a response.
First, I’m not a Philly fan, never have been, was rooting for the Cowboys on Saturday.
Will someone please explain to me why you’d want to give up McNabb? Or why McNabb “isn’t working” ?
I could be a little off on this, but I believe him and Andy have been together for 11 years, and have made 5 NFC Championships!! 5! Almost every other year, and again (correct me if I’m a number off) they made the playoffs 8 of those years! So approximately 75% of the time McNabb and Reid lead them to the playoffs, and about 43 percent of the time they’re in the final four! EVERY FRANCHISE WOULD KILL FOR THAT. EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. They’ve lost to teams, they’ve lost heartbreakers (NFC Title game last year, McNabb torched the Cardinals, but their D couldn’t stop anyone) or they’ve lost to teams that later were CAUGHT CHEATING AND PUNISHED FOR IT.
I really hope that all of you who think McNabb and Andy (or 1 of the 2) should be gone, were sitting with your buddies in the mid-90s going “Man, either Kelly or Levy need to be gone in Buffalo, this clearly isn’t working.”
And if you were, let me be the first to tell you that you’re a moron.

Lost to my boys 3 times this season and have a ton of holes on that team. It felt like I was watching the 4skins out there for a minute. I have a feeling the beagles and 4skins will battling as cellar dwellars for years to come.
