Haslett looks like favorite for Redskins coordinator job

Mike Zimmer’s return to Cincinnati as defensive coordinator should have a ripple effect around the league.

Zimmer was believed to be at the top of Washington’s wish list for their defensive coordinator job.  Following the Zimmer news, the Washington Post writes that Jim Haslett appears to be the front runner for the team’s position. Haslett met with Mike Shanahan and the Redskins Monday.

Redskins secondary coach Jerry Gray has also “received consideration” but it appears Washington may be ready to move on from the Greg Blatche/Jerry Gray defense that has performed rather well.

Thats what the Skins dont need, Shanny touching the D. They shouldve kept Blache, and let Shanny fix the O.

Def move away from that stupid defensive scheme. CB’s have 5 yards to rough up WRs so Blanche has them start 12 yards off when it’s 3rd and 6. So ridiculous.

Serves Gray right for back stabbing his coach.
Good luck finding another Job Jerry!
I guess there will be a new term from this like the Rooney Rule they will change the term black balled to Gray balled.

BLACHE is retiring either way..the guy doesn’t even speak to the media. I like em’ but it’s time for an aggressive defense in D.C. Welcome to the best bloody fans in football Jim. Hail!

Skins fans should be glad Shanny’s not bringing his old pal Bob Slowik along for the ride

Blache/Gray need to go. Blache is incredible stubborn as he is always inserting players into positions they werent suited to be in; i.e. Landry in the free safety spot and putting Orakpo as a outside linebacker.
Grays’ zone scheme was fine as long as the opposing team didnt go deep.
    Time to start fresh.

As a Skins fan…I’d be sad to see Blache and Gray go, as they have NOT been the problem.
However, I’m a big fan of the 3-4 defense. And if Haslett is coming here to implement a 3-4, I’m all for it. Orakpo would have more opportunities to rush the passer (he had 11 sacks only rushing 1/3rd of the time).
I also saw someone mention Landry being out of place at Free Safety. AMEN Brother…AMEN!!!
Landry has neither the ability or the intelligence to play free safety. Let’s move him to Strong so he can utilize his boneheadedness nearer to the goaline, and less on the sideline where he gets a late hit out of bounds about 1-2 times a game.
Now if someone can teach that moron that you’ll have more success tackling someone by wrapping them up, instead of trying to tackle someone with your shoulder (kinda bittersweetly enjoyed watching Kevin Boss shrug Landry on a shoulder tackle and watching Landry fly about 14 yards in the other direction).
I mean…Landry and Carlos Rogers might as well have their arms amputated. Both try to make tackles with their shoulders, and neither could catch a ball that’s thrown right in their numbers, even if human existence depended on it.

    rip 21, I agree.
    We need a fresh start.
Get some coaches in here that know how to motivate the players that need it. It has been stale around here for too long.

    Noooooooo….
Does anyone realize Haslett led the Rams to 28th, 31st and 31st in points against… in his three most recent years of coaching (06,07,08). If the guy is a DEF Guru and the Rams were loaded with average talent at best would a guru not have led them to middle ground?
I think, if this happens, it is a bad move…
HTTR! and thank god we don’t have to deal with JaMarcus!

Fans are hilarious man… When the offense couldn’t do anything it was all on them. (The defense was all-world) When the offense started producing and the defense was collapsing every game in the fourth quarter it was still the offenses fault.
No, it was Blache’s fault. And I do put alot on Gray’s coaching of the secondary unit.
The 12 yard cushion as someone else put it was a cornerstone
Carlos “hands of Stone” Rogers was never put in a position to play bump and run (his strength)
They do however put Hall in bump and run (his weakness)
    Orakpo at linebacker????
    Landry’s whifftastic season???
and according to Fat Al, they aren’t letting him do what he can do?
OK one or two things fine but add it all up and it lame and they’re gone. Fine. HAslett’s looking for a HC job somewhere, he’s gonna work them dudes into the ground or else. Hail!!!

  13. mwcarolina says: Jan 12, 2010 3:56 PM

    They shouldve kept Blache
your joking right!!??? have you seen Blache’s defense??? if you haven’t watch the cowboys-redskins sunday night game they had, if you watched it, you seen the redskins secondary covering about 50 yards downfield for no reason at all, Blache believes in a weird defense, no pressure, no blitz, cover at much as you can, and his defense statisically is good, but in reality, it’s bad, Haslett will fix Blache’s problems, Gray should get a look, but Blache should be fired quickly.

SWEET. ANOTHER HACK COMING IN. I THOUGHT SHANNY WAS LOOKING FOR THE BEST OF THE BEST.
HASLETT IS A HORRIBLE FOOTBALL MIND. LOOK AT HIS LEADERSHIP WITH THE RAMS. 4SKINS ARE GOING TO OVERPAY FOR ALL THESE COACHES AND PLAYERS AND IN 2 YR FIRING THE COACH AGAIN WILL BE FIRED WHEN THEY GO 8-24.
WHAT A DYSFUNCTIONAL ORG. I HEARD WEASEL SYNDER MADE ZORNY SIT DOWN WEEK TO WEEK TO ANALYZE THE GAME TAPE. I CAN JUST SEE THAT WEASEL MICRO MANAGING AND ASKING DUMB A QUESTIONS WHILE ZORNY WINDS AND REWINDS THE TAPE.
THIS ORG IS AS BAD AS THE RAIDER, LIONS AND RAMS ORGS. WEASEL BOY IS TRYING TO ACT LIKE MY JJ BUT CURRENTLY THE SCORE IS 3 SB’S TO 0 and soon to be 4 to o WHEN WE ROLL TO ANOTHER SB WIN THIS YR.
    HOW BOUT THOSE COWBOYS!!!!!!!!!!!

    @boysroll
you sure are talking alot of smack considering your team just won it’s first playoff game since 96. Dysfunctional? Jerry Jones is a good owner? Same guy that got into a dick measuring contest with Jimmy Johnson after winning a couple Super Bowls? Instead of keeping his ego in check he ran JJ out of town. This is the same owner that signed TO and then released him and then signed Roy Williams who aint doing shit. Your a complete dumbass who obviously is the pot calling the kettle black. The skins are going to go 8-24 over the next two years? We will see about that douchebag. Do you type in all caps because you crave attention like your dumbass owner? Why else did he let Jimmy Johnson get away? How many more superbowls would have been won if Jerry Jones had put the success of the team over his need to be the center of attention. Sure Snyder has screwed things up but you dont see him sticking his face in the camera every five seconds either. The only reason he hired wade phillips is because phillips wont stand up to him like Johnson did. New Flash Douche- The cowboys are not winning the suberbowl but you already know that, you just wanted to draw attention to yourself.

  17. Mangy66 says: Jan 12, 2010 4:55 PM

And people who type in ALL CAPS prove one thing.
That they’re insecure about the fact that nobody ever listens to them.
There’s a reason for that buddy.
Cuz you have nothing intelligent to say.
And, not surprised that he’s a Cowboys fan. Not at all.

Personally I would like them to bring in Zimmer over a retread such as Haslett, but I won’t complain. Haslett will definately make sure that they are ready to play each Sunday, and that goes for Dana Stubblefield, I mean fat ass Haynesworth too.

  19. Sociofan says: Jan 12, 2010 6:12 PM

I, for one, am not getting excited about ANY offseason move anymore. When all of these “wise decisions” translate into wins and trophies, I’ll look back and say, “You did good. Now, do it again.”

  20. SmashMouth says: Jan 12, 2010 6:44 PM

Haslett is a mediocre coach. Please look for someone else. How ’bout someone from Dom Caper’s tree of 34 coaches. I’m sure he has an assistant in GB who would be perfect for implementing the new scheme.

What do expect from an obviously uneducated little Gayboy fan who hangs around Redskins posts so he/she can express his apparent homosexual lust for Dan Snyder. Anyone who is so obsessed with Dannyboy and his “size” AND has to express him/herself by TYPING IN ALL CAPS is obviously coming up short in the “manhood” department.

I love 4skin chatter. It is hilarious as the 4skin fans knew there org is so f’d up and the biggest mess in the nfl.
