At a time when folks continue to have concerns regarding the financial viability of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the folks who own them, another report has emerged from England that will do nothing to erase any suspicions in this regard.
According to the Guardian, the Glazers have collected 10 million pounds (more than $16 million) in “management and administration fees,” and they have borrowed 10 million pounds in the past year from the team.
The disclosure comes from financial information released by the team on Monday, at a time when there are ongoing concerns regarding the ability of the Glazers to ultimately repay and/or restructure massive debt incurred when the team was purchased.
The move sparked a stinging editorial from David Conn of the Guardian, and it does nothing to make folks in Manchester feel better about the fact that the club is owned by outsiders from America.
As to the Glazers football team located in Tampa, the news could be encouraging — if that $30 million is used to finance player salaries in the looming year without a salary cap or a salary floor.
This has absolutely nothing to do with the Rooney Rule… so why post it?
Well leave to a Yank to put one of the richest sports clubs in the world in financial trouble. No wonder why a bunch of northern knobheads cannot stand the fact that a Yank owns their beloved football club.
Don’t count on it. That $30 million is for Brian and Joel. They will be asking for a bail out soon. Brian and Joel Glazer, please tell your dad to sell the team. Debartalo is waiting with open arms.
Unlike the socialist NFL, the Premier League has an uncapped year EVERY YEAR.
I am a life long Bucs fan that thinks the NFL should force the Glazers to sell the team. 5 straight years with the lowest salary in the NFL. 900K/year for a buffoon to head coach that had never even been a coordinator. Ever since the Glazers bought ManU they have proven yearly that the Buccaneers are not a priority.
Come on Florio, you couldn’t include the name of the soccer team at least? I had to spend 5 seconds to do a google search to look it up. That’s 5 seconds of my life I’ll never get back.
Bye Bye Bucs see you in Los Angeles…
Beyond the spelling, STL, do you know anything about socialism at all?
Florio…its been DAYS since you posted something Favre related and I for one am pissed off about that. POST SOMETHING FAVRE RELATED NOW OR IM DONE!!!
It’s shocking how much the currency exchange has changed in recent years. That many lb’s used to account for more benji’s. I’d rather watch tennis than futbol and I will not watch tennis. Unless someone gets stabbed or swears at an official.
Clarification:
Womens tennis with those little skirts! Serena with her, hell whatever she wants to wear (or not wear). Grunting, fondeling the balls, sweaty\dirty chicks. I need a sock.
This article is practically unreadable. Seriously, could you have written it any less clearly, Florio?
The Bucs won’t spend any money this year. I look for their payroll to drop.
Oh my gosh!! You mean these people own Man United?? Hate soccer but I used to live in the UK and that would be like Brits owning the Cowboys, Giants, or my beloved Steelers. Can’t blame them for being ticked off.
That said, scotty_poacher, the Brits have managed to run their own economy into the dirt many times through the years with no help from any Yanks so stuff it.
@STLCover2 …
So the Big Bad Socialist NFL has imposed a nasty ol’ cap all this time instead of letting the free market reign? Well that free market has no ceiling as well as no cap. That means cheap owners can decide to simply reap the rewards of their television and merchandising contracts, pay their players dirt, and make no effort to field a competitive team. Since there’s only so much room on Danny and Jerry’s teams, a lot of players might be kissing their big bucks good-bye … and the only way some fans will ever see a Lombardi is to visit one somewhere else. So … is your team owner more interested in winning or just profiting? Be careful what you wish for.
And that is why only 5 teams competein the Premiership. Blackburn doesn’t win lots of league championships.
“Unlike the socialist NFL, the Premier League has an uncapped year EVERY YEAR. ‘
___________
Rather interesting that the NFL is socialist, and yet the country where the league the Premier League resides is indeed socialist.
Anywho, if you want an uncapped year every year for the NFL, enjoy those 1,000 per game tickets.
Personally, I don’t care if the NFL guys get 8 bucks an hour, or 8 mil a year. Doesn’t affect me one bit.
Only 5 teams are competitive for the title?!? Sounds like MLB. But, let me ask you this: Do they have steroids? Take that UK!
Now we have a posting about a lamea$$ soccer team.
As a United fan I am not remotely bothered by the Glaziers debt. Why? Because the second Manchester United is up for sale, numerous billionaire Arabs will be competing to buy maybe the most popular team on the planet.
As for Tampa Bay – well, I bet their fans aren’t quite so optimistic.
Ooops, I meant to say the free market has no floor as well as no cap.
yeah Howie – thats right we’re all socialists over here…..
the Glazers have done a shocking job – the only reason they’ve had success is thanks to the presence of one of the greatest sports coaches of all time. now if only they had the money for a decent coach at their other club….
Screw MAN U.
GO LIVERPOOL!
YNWA!
they do. they are just paying him to not coach!
Socialist NFL? haha, what a stupid comment.
To those that want ANY sports team to have an uncapped salary ALL THE TIME:
Take your interest from the NFL & go watch something else. Watch baseball or Premier league or whatever. I don’t care.
One of the main factors for the NFL rising to fame (and overtaking baseball as America’s #1 Game) is league parity. Parity = Interest = More Money.
It’s not socialism. It’s not a form of civilian government. The NFL is a CARTEL.
Definition: A cartel is a formal (explicit) agreement among competing firms. It is a formal organization of producers that agree to coordinate prices, marketing and production
By keeping the $ to spend on players on a relatively “even keel,” teams are more equally balanced & generally more competitive. This increases drama & overall interest. Viewership widens & thus, more people to market penis pills, stocks & godaddy internet services.
Any fan interested in the NFL will find this book interesting:

Ask yourself this question: if your team made the playoffs or was out of contention, WHY WERE YOU WATCHING WEEK 17?

This has absolutely nothing to do with the Rooney Rule… so why post it?
Maybe not, but definitely the Wade Rooney Rule!
Man U Blows
Chelsea!!!!!
Wow Florio, i barely could read this article, what the hell happened?
Actually, TampaJoey, it was Richmond stations and stations all over the rest of VA that didn’t show the Redskins, because in their own words, they are “unwatchable”. The local stations HAD to show the Redskins (stations within 50 miles).
As for the Bucs moving, Redstorm is a MORON as is his politically correct idiotic name. He’s been saying the Bucs are moving for a while now and has ZERO knowledge of the Bucs’ or any other team’s situation. The Bucs are NOT moving. Their stadium deal (complete with a brand new stadium) will not allow them to move. Add in the fact, whether real or imagined, the Bucs have sold out every game for the past 8 years or so, or has it been 10+? I can’t remember. It doesn’t matter, the Bucs are not moving ANYWHERE… and Redstorms is too much of an idiot to realize it.
What 2 teams sell the most NFL merchandise? Would you believe the Bucs and the Raiders? Seems everybody loves a pirate. So even when the teams are losing they are making money. Maybe the Glazers can change the name of the soccer team . How about Manchester Pirates or some such rascally moniker?
