Avril, Jean-Francois affected by Haiti earthquake, too

Colts receiver Pierre Garcon isn’t the only NFL player who has been affected by Tuesday’s earthquake in Haiti.

According to Tim Twentyman of the Detroit News, Lions defensive end Cliff Avril said he doesn’t know the fate of five cousins who live in Haiti, and he hasn’t been able to get in touch with any of them.

Also, 49ers defensive tackle Ricky Jean-Francois is waiting to hear about the status of his grandmother and cousins who reside in the Haitian capital of Port-au Prince.

Jean-Francois’ brother said that the city of 2 million has been flattened.

“In Haiti, everything is made out of cement,” Jean-Francois said, per Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee. “There are barely any houses left standing.”

Anyone wishing to make a $10 donation can text “HAITI” to 90999. The funds will be given to the American Red Cross, and the charge automatically appear on your phone bill.
