Redskins won't raise general admission ticket prices

This is the time of the year when reports typically emerge regarding increases in ticket prices.

In Washington, that won’t be happening.

The team announced today that, for the fifth straight year, general admission ticket prices will remain unchanged.

Since Daniel Snyder purchased the team in 1999, general admission prices have increased only twice — in 2000 and 2006.

Prices currently range from $29 to $99 per seat.

The release doesn’t announce whether other tickets will have increased prices, or if so by how much.

UPDATE:  As a reader points out, there’s an inconsistency between the notion that prices haven’t been raised in five straight years and an increase in 2006.  We’ve contacted the team in the hopes of clearing up that detail.

But, but, but…I thought the only thing Dan Snyder cared about was money? Surely this can’t be true, he HAS to be raising prices to keep up with the money grubber rep…right?

Dallas leads the league in FCI – or Family Cost Index average at $758.58 per game for a family of four to attend.

    Mike you are Sofakingwetoddid.
There appears to be some bad math in there.

wait until Redskin fans see the new prices for beer & parking

  5. bake says: Jan 13, 2010 4:18 PM

    Bravo, Dan Snyder!!!!!!!!!!!!
How bout lowering the cost of the beers to under $8 a pop? That way we can really have a good time…………..
Speaking of stadium costs, does it really cost $90 for a pizza at the new stadium in Texas? heard that on the radio, it blew my mind. Cause we usually have wine and cheese when we watch our soap operas……………..not pizza………..

4-12 teams that raise ticket prices are probably going to lose more attendees than they gain by people coming off the waiting list for season tix, especially in a bad economy.
    @Tony Alexander,
The team marketing site is interesting. Some good info there about how badly the teams are sticking it to the fans. Over half the teams having minimum priced beers of $7 or more for instance. That alone demonstrates the level of greed involved.

There is Florio being a mouthpiece for whatever propaganda Danny boy wants to spew.
No need to check facts, just run the story you are told to run!!!!

  8. BradyGazelle says: Jan 13, 2010 4:45 PM

As bad as they are, it’s obvious they don’t need to have any $9 seats like they have in Jacksonville.

The ticket price in 2006 was more than the price in 2005. The ticket price has then been the same for five straight years: 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010

  10. blee50 says: Jan 13, 2010 4:50 PM

Merriman’s Dealer sofa king we todd did.
They raised the tickets prior to the 2006 season. This will be the 5th straight year with the same prices.
    2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010. WOW five years! I’m glad your Merriman’s dealer and not mine.

You’ll find out when you try to go to Deadskins training camp.

    @ Blee50
Thanks for your math tutorial but the article says that prices were raised IN 2006 not prior to 2006. Therefore you cannot count 2006 as a year in which prices weren’t raised because, in fact, they were.
So by my math its 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010.
Which in remedial math adds up to 4.
Hey, but thanks for playing. We have the home version for you as a parting gift. You can pick it up at the receptionists desk on your way out.

And just how do you think they would justify an increase ?
    Level of play ? Not.
They’ll be better next year ? I don’t think so.

What about the other 31 teams? What a hard on for the skins.

It’s still alot of buffalo nickles. I still wonder why thier restroom’s are teepeeeeeees. Not racist at all. Not one bit. Maybe they can bring Chief Wahoo out at halftime, I’m confident his tribe can use the jack. It might help the redman open a new casino.
Yes, Chief Wahoo is from Cleveland. But what’s the difference between Clevelan, DC, KC, alot of C’s there isn’t there? Scalp has a C.

Whoa! A team does nothing and it’s newsworthy?
Guess what… the Jaguars aren’t raising ticket prices either… and there are a few other teams that won’t do it.
I’ll bet the Redskins didn’t cut Cooley and aren’t moving out of Fedex Field!!! Drum up a nice story about that, why don’t ya
Maybe you should rename the site to “Redskins and other Pro Football Talk.com”

    ————————————————–
Right. That’s why consession and parking rates will go up at FedEx Field and at all of the Six Flags amusement parks Snyder owns (as well as admission prices for Six Flags). Out of the 8 billion things he owns that he can charge money for, the one that he’ll lay off on is ticket prices for the Redskins. Too bad that leaves 7,999,999 other things he can get more of your money for.
Snyder must *love* trusting, naive souls like you. :)

  18. efangule says: Jan 13, 2010 6:29 PM

They might not have raised prices in 2007, buy they stopped rolling the taxes into the face value of the ticket.
A $64 ticket in 2006 cost $64+$6.40. Essentially raising ticket prices 10% that year.
I was surprised no media outlets wrote about it then and am
surprised media outlets continue to say he hasn’t raised
    prices since 2006

  20. Chapnasty2 says: Jan 13, 2010 7:05 PM

    @ wahtdiga
99% of the sports meida is left leaning and our own Mike Florio is 120% left leaning, meaning he doesn’t care about the taxes. If they go up, that doesn’t matter so it isn’t newsworthy.

  21. blee50 says: Jan 14, 2010 10:03 AM

Merriman’s Dealer must be an idiot. What do you think they raise tickets AFTER the season is over in 2006. So the tickets were raised in 2006 prior to the season. Unbelievable.
Once again, you prove just how dumb you are.
They raised them FOR the 2006 season so the tickets have remained the same price in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010. still 5 years.
Yes, you could argue that they have been raised in the last 5 years, but they ticket prices have stayed the same for five years.

I can’t for the life of me figure out why any SANE individual would trek out to middle of nowhere PG County, fight ridiculous traffic, pay outrageous parking and concession fees, and basically be treated like sh!t by Danny’s employees………all this for the product that has been put on the field the last 10 years?
When are you sheeple gonna learn?
